Platewell is kitchen software made for independent care homes in the UK. It replaces paper meal-choice lists, allergy folders and guesswork about food spending with three simple daily jobs.
Staff print a menu sheet for each meal, and residents mark their choice. Dishes a resident cannot have, because of an allergy, an IDDSI texture level or a diet such as diabetic or vegetarian, are already greyed out. Choices can be entered on a computer, or by staff on a phone or tablet room by room using a walk-round link that needs no login.
One click then prints the kitchen sheet, showing how many of each dish to make with textures and portion sizes, and a label for every plate showing the resident, room, meal, allergies and texture.
Every dish carries its ingredients, the 14 allergens and a cost, with a record of who checked it and when. Platewell shows the food cost per resident for each day, week or month against the home's own budget. Stock takes and supplier orders are built from the menus, minus what is already in stock.
The manager or owner gets one overview of meals served, food cost, deliveries and stock value. Chefs, nurses and carers each get their own login with permissions the home controls. Training videos with subtitles in 10 languages and a staff training record are included.
Platewell runs in a web browser with nothing to install, and data is held in the UK. Homes can try it free for 14 days, and setup takes about ten minutes.
