We switched to Netbird from Fortinets SSLVPN which was single sign on enabled. What the change has done for us: - Made it possible to restrict individual VPN users to the resources they should have access to without managing firewall rules across multiple sites. This is all done in the netbird management interface - Allowed us to onboard individual devices into the network that weren't SSO capable without having to manually set up individual tunnels - Create fast P2P connections to resources in different networks at the same time instead of having only a single point of connection - Automatic reconnection after a network change - Device level authentication instead of user level, especially important for BYOD scenarios. All in all it is now easier than ever to onboard new users and have them set up for the least privileged access all while having a centralized management interface that allows administrators to on the fly change access control rules. User needs access to something new, just add them to the right group or set up a new group / rule. Default is that people have no access to anything and you set up individual access instead of the other way around as many VPNs still work traditionally. It was easy to setup and implement as a self-hosted solution. We use it everyday to connect our users to our network. Integrating it into the workflow for onboarding new users was seamless.

How easy was to install this across a large network and actually start getting useful for everyone, was amazing! Also, the fact that we can switch to a self-hosted controller is a big attractive point, since not all clients will be able to afford paid solutions. Being OpenSource Software is a big part of the decision my company had to adopt Netbird for our clients.
