MakeStatic is for businesses whose website is a means to an end, a place people find you and send an enquiry, and who do not want to maintain it.
It makes a static copy of the website you already have and serves it on your own domain. Your original site stays online as the place you edit, on a second address of its own; the public only ever gets the copy, which has no database and no plugins behind it.
What changes for your visitors: pages arrive as finished files instead of being built per visit, so the site answers fast. The public site has no WordPress or PHP running for anyone to attack.
What stays the same: the copy works like the original. Contact forms deliver to you, site search answers. What needs a server (logins, comments, a shop checkout) is named in a report before you publish.
How you work: you keep editing in your WordPress, Ghost, TYPO3, Joomla, Drupal or other system. When you press Publish, the copy is renewed; a failed update never takes the live site down.
Try it first: paste one address of your own site into the demo, no account needed, and see original and copy side by side.
Free during the beta, no credit card.
