Ledger is a web-based working papers and financial statements application built for small and mid-sized accounting firms in Canada. It was designed by a team of tax specialists and CPAs in Quebec for firms whose work is mainly compilation engagements, bookkeeping and tax.
The whole team works in the same file at the same time, directly in the browser. There is no local server, no VPN and no software to install. Data is hosted in Canada.
A file starts with the client's trial balance, imported from Excel, CSV or QuickBooks Online, with comparative figures. Accounts are mapped to GIFI groupings, which carry over to the following years. Adjusting and reclassification entries, working papers and sign-offs are done in the same place. Specialized working papers calculate capital assets, long-term debt, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, income taxes and GST/QST, and prepare the related adjusting entry.
The financial statements, notes and the CSRS 4200 compilation engagement report are produced from the file, in English or in French, with the firm's logo. The complete file prints to a single PDF. The roll-forward brings balances and settings into the next year.
Ledger also includes continuous bookkeeping (bank import, categorization rules, bank reconciliation, sales tax report), a client portal for document requests and electronic signature, production pipelines, and client invoicing. Adjusting entries can be sent back to the client's QuickBooks Online file.
Pricing is per firm, with one plan and one user included.
