GarageCodex is shop management software for independent auto-repair shops and mobile mechanics. It runs entirely on an Android tablet or phone with no cloud account and no monthly fee. The free tier works for a small shop, and a one-time $99.99 Pro unlock removes the limits.
It covers the daily workflow: customer check-in with VIN barcode scanning and an offline year, make, model, and engine catalog; work orders with labor and parts on each job; status tracking from estimate through paid; labor timers; multi-point inspection checklists with photos; PDF estimates and invoices with customer approval and completion signatures; payment recording; and a financial dashboard with revenue, expenses, and net. A reusable Labor Book speeds up common jobs, and a parts price lookup opens the major retailers for the vehicle on the work order. Expense logging and a year-end tax summary round out the books.
Mobile Mechanic mode adds service addresses with navigation, GPS-tracked trip miles and travel time, a service-call fee, deposit tracking, and an IRS-style mileage log.
All data stays on the device. Backups are local snapshots, with an optional backup to the shop's own Google Drive. The developer never has access to shop records.
