FTP connection

Easy integration with a web browser, no big desktop download needed and OS compatibility. Drag and drop is the most practical option I like.

Good old FireFTP

I used FireFTP at my first job quite some time back. The best thing about any GUI file handling tool is the ability to drag and drop, and FireFTP provided that. Another great feature I used all the time was comparing directories between various lab machines and synchronizing directories. I was working for a smaller startup, and the fact it was free was significant. Many alternatives had demo versions which were just as good, but nothing beats free!

What is FireFTP?

FireFTP is a free, open-source, cross-platform FTP client that functioned as an extension for the Mozilla Firefox web browser. It was developed to offer a simple and secure way to access FTP servers for tasks such as uploading and downloading files, managing directories, and performing file synchronization. FireFTP supports various protocols, including FTP, FTPS, and SFTP, and includes features such as directory comparison, file hashing, and automatic reconnects during live sessions. As of November 2017, FireFTP is no longer maintained due to Firefox discontinuing support for legacy extensions.
