Most accounting software available to UK SMEs, including established players like Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage 50, was built for a slower era of finance and has had AI features added on top of older, rules-based architecture. Finzu takes a different approach. It was built from the ground up around AI, so reconciliation, categorisation, and reporting happen continuously as transactions occur, not in a rushed scramble at the end of each month.
At the centre of Finzu is Fin, an AI companion that works alongside business owners and their finance teams throughout the month. Fin handles automated reconciliation, flags anomalies as they arise, and provides ongoing cash flow intelligence, so businesses always have an accurate, current picture of their financial position rather than a snapshot that's already weeks out of date by the time it's produced.
Key capabilities include continuous bookkeeping, where transactions are reconciled and categorised in real time, removing the traditional end-of-month bottleneck. Anomaly detection means Fin proactively surfaces unusual transactions or discrepancies as they happen, rather than during a retrospective review. Cash flow intelligence gives ongoing visibility into cash position and trends, helping business owners make decisions with current data instead of historical reports. And the platform is built for UK compliance, designed specifically around UK accounting practice and regulatory requirements, rather than adapted from a US-first product.
Finzu was founded by Anne Allibone, a fractional CFO and FCCA-qualified accountant, alongside co-founder and CTO Jack Shireby. The platform was built to address a problem they saw directly in their own work: businesses are forced to wait weeks for financial clarity because bookkeeping has traditionally been a monthly, backward-looking exercise. Finzu removes that lag entirely.
Finzu is best suited to UK SMEs who want to move away from manual, month-end bookkeeping processes and toward always-on financial visibility, without needing to bring in a full in-house finance team to get there.
