Ethicality is an independent certification body for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, operated by Ethicality Inc., an Ontario corporation based in North York, Toronto, Canada.
Organizations that use AI in their work can apply to be assessed against the Ethicality AI Use Standard (EAUS), a published standard of 15 plain-language requirements. The standard covers three things: being open about meaningful AI use, keeping people responsible for important work and decisions, and protecting confidential information. The requirements are public, and every file is reviewed by a named certification officer whose compensation does not depend on the outcome. Ethicality does not sell consulting or remediation to fix the gaps it finds.
The application takes about 10 minutes, and the assessment is free — a card is saved at application and charged only if certification is issued, with a decision inside 5 business days. Organizations that meet the standard receive the Ethicality Badge, a numbered certificate, and an entry in a public registry where anyone can verify certificate number and status. Organizations that fall short receive private findings and one free re-review within 90 days.
Certification is priced as one published annual fee set by organization size: $300 USD per year for 1–10 people, $700 for 11–50, $1,500 for 51–200, $3,000 for 201–500, and quoted for larger scopes.
Ethicality is advised by experts in AI, ethics, law and public policy: Prof. Aviv Gaon, Prof. Ian Stedman and Prof. Drew Fagan. It is built for businesses, startups and professional firms that want a simple, public way to show clients how they use AI.
