FirstWave is an employee benefits education platform by Enrollment Technology Services, a veteran-owned US company. It teaches each employee about their benefits before the enrollment window opens, so they arrive ready to decide. It was built by a former high school economics teacher, and it works the way good teaching does: it starts where each employee is, with their own coverage, language and numbers. Every lesson comes in more than one form: employees can see their coverage, read it, try their own numbers, and, where the carrier has a product video, watch and hear it explained, all in their own language. From an employer's census and the carrier's rates, FirstWave builds a personal, interactive Snapshot for every employee, with their own cost per paycheck. It is delivered by email and text in the employee's language, in one of eight languages, followed by an education series and reminders. An assistant on each Snapshot answers from the carrier's brochure and the employee's own figures. It asks no health questions, takes no claims data, and leaves the choice with the employee. The focus is voluntary and gap coverage: accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, cancer, disability, life and gap plans. It also covers medical, dental and vision, with a medical comparison based on a federal benchmark. For every person on the census, the agent sees each email, text, open, product looked at, video played, question asked, booking, application and enrollment, as it happens. After enrollment, year-round messages help employees use their coverage. FirstWave is not a benefits administration platform. Each Snapshot links to whatever enrollment platform the group already uses, with no integration, and there is no group-size floor or ceiling.
