Independence from hardware: it avoids vendor lock-in, which is a strategic advantage, but can complicate support in case of multi-vendor incidents. Functional richness: snapshots, replication, auto-tiering... it's comprehensive, but sometimes at the cost of a rather steep learning curve and an interface that may seem less intuitive than some modern solutions.
