ConfirmLayer is a US based identity verification API. One call to POST /v1/verify reads a government ID, cross-checks the printed text against the passport MRZ (with check digits) or the AAMVA PDF417 barcode, matches the face on the selfie to the ID portrait, runs passive liveness, returns fraud signals (tamper, screen recapture, duplicates), checks age, and can screen the name against sanctions and PEP data. Every signal is returned in the JSON so you set the policy.
If you would rather not build a camera flow, Verify Link is a hosted, mobile-first capture page with ID, selfie and e-signature steps, a signed webhook and a redirect. The vault stores document and selfie images encrypted at rest, with retention you set from 0 to 365 days; when retention ends or you call delete, images are removed and personal fields in the result are redacted.
Sanctions screening uses OFAC (SDN and Consolidated), the UN Security Council Consolidated List, UK OFSI and the Canadian autonomous sanctions list, plus politically exposed persons from Wikidata (CC0). Sources and refresh times are listed at GET /v1/aml/sources. A KYB endpoint checks a business against public registries and sanctions lists.
Coverage: passports from every ICAO-compliant country via MRZ, driver's licenses and ID cards from all US states and Canadian provinces via AAMVA barcode, and visual-zone OCR for other documents.
We verify that a document is authentic and that the person presenting it matches it. We do not query government identity databases.
