Clarus is a Windows screen capture and screen recording tool, built so that a capture is still useful a month later. It takes fullscreen, area, window and full-page scrolling captures, records the screen with system and microphone audio onto a real multitrack timeline, and gives screenshots and recordings the same annotation editor: arrows, text, step numbers, and pixelation or blur baked permanently into the export rather than layered over it. What separates it is retrieval. Every capture is indexed by the text inside it, using recognition that runs locally rather than in the cloud, so you can find a screenshot from three months ago by typing a word you remember seeing in it. Copy Text pulls that text back out with code formatting intact, and nothing leaves the machine unless you share it. Recordings support webcam overlay, click highlights and on-screen keystrokes, and export to MP4, GIF or MP3. Teams get a shared cloud library with per-link expiry. Windows 10 and 11.
