CiteProof verifies the citations in a litigation brief before it is filed. It checks each citation against public court records (CourtListener and GovInfo) on two points — whether the citation exists, and whether the cited case name matches the volume, reporter, court, and year given — then audits extracted quotes against the underlying opinion text for alterations and omissions. Verification is deterministic: there is no LLM in the decision path, so the tool cannot generate a citation, only match one or fail to match it. Each run returns a SHA-256 fingerprint of the document version and its results, giving the firm a reproducible record of what was checked. CiteProof is a pre-filter, not a citator: it does not determine whether a case is still good law.
