Astro42 is a custom software development consultancy specialising in the space sector, with a particular focus on applied AI and machine learning. We operate globally from offices in the UK and Hungary. We work with clients in three main ways. - We act as a full-stack technology partner for space software startups, helping them build products the market actually needs. - We carry out R&D at the intersection of AI and space, often as a consortium partner on ESA and other publicly funded projects. - And we provide outsourced software and AI/ML capacity for established space companies whose core value lies in their science or hardware rather than in their code. Our experience spans Earth Observation, flight dynamics, space weather, satellite mission planning, ground segment operations, thermal engineering for spacecraft, and 3D simulation of physical environments. Representative work includes a cloud platform for CubeSat mission design, a SaaS solution that automates mission operations for small satellite constellation operators, analysis of nighttime infrared imagery to improve building energy efficiency (commissioned by ESA), and the technology transfer of an AI-based stabiliser derived from an ESA patent. As a subcontractor in a Telespazio led consortium, we are also delivering the cloud-native backend and multi-mission platform for ESA's PROSPECT Operations Centre, the ground infrastructure behind a European lunar drilling mission. As a value-added integration partner of Bright Ascension, we deliver integrated ground and flight software solutions, helping satellite operators bring the two layers together for their hardware and mission profiles. Our product development stays focused on product-market fit rather than technology for its own sake, and our founder is one of the most active space industry mentors and advisors in the world.
