I like the options it provides while reporting expenses from taxes to reimbursement claims. I just love these features, it helps me to report everything along with my personal expenses for the company and make sure that all the tax details are entered correctly. There is nothing I dislike about this software but it would be nice to see a little more easy interaction with the software in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Well where do I start off, ZOHO Expense is a blessing in disguise. As a medium-sized corporation with more than 30 Field Service Techs on the run, we were using a home-brewed expense reporting app that was getting the job done till approvals but exporting those approved reports to ZOHO Books via Excel was pain itself. We thought that we might save an extra few dollars by not using a Professional Expense reporting application but the day came when our system started to collapse when the accounting team accidentally made double reimbursements. From that day onwards, we started to check for expense violations, false entries, and were scrutinizing every single transaction that was actually costing us more overhead. So we took a step and contacted ZOHO's amazing sales team. They guided us A to Z throughout the software, gave us a tour of how expenses were reported, how we can look at predefined reports from the reports section, reimburse payments directly through the app, which would show those expenses as reimbursed in ZOHO Books itself. That is simply amazing as the amount of time it was saving as compared to a 3 hour of intensive work of cleaning data and exporting CSV files to ZOHO Books. It's amazing how a set of ZOHO's financial suite software can make a huge impact on controlling cost with the use of clever AI to show us the expense violations among our tech reps, advance tracking is very lean and effective and finally comparing data through a very well designed dashboard (New feature in version 2.0) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Till now our team has no issues ZOHO Expense whatsoever. However, if there was an option to integrate ZOHO Desk tickets into ZOHO Expense, that would be great in our case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Zoho has solid customization and an impressive set of integrations with other solutions from Zoho and has three (3) user types: submitters, approvers, and administrators. Each one can have multiple roles. For instance, an administrator can grant approvers the capability of approving their own expenses and the software supports multiple levels of approval. Zoho Expense also connects with Intuit QuickBooks for accounting, so you can schedule reimbursements in the usual accounting cycles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Must submit expenses with a report, which can delay getting reimbursement if a problematic entry occurs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Love how easy it is to get a receipt, scan it, and have it be ready to go into a category within 20 to 30 seconds. It's accurate almost 100% of the time, but when it's not, the interface is super easy and able to be fixed easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That there is no app for my MacBook Pro. I have to email every single receipt to a specific email address. If they made an app for the MacBook app store, there would be nothing to complain about! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Love the mobile app that lets me scan directly into Zoho Expense. Than I love the connectivity of Zoho Expense directly into Zoho Books. Creating spending reports make managing our business and more importantly, our spending, so easy! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much I dislike! Maybe dress up the look! All in all, this is an awesome tool with not much to dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is clean, intuitive and I love how the credit integration works in reverse, showing you all posted expenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike how strict they are on security. I almost gave up getting past the authentication process, I had an old account but no longer owned the device used to access Zoho, therefore they made it impossible for my to log on. It took nearly a month to work it out. Being across seas, customer service only responds to email one time per day, and this was while we are asleep so solving an issue was a major pain as one communication per day would work. They desperately need 24/7 chat or telephone support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is very user friendly and when there is something you arent sure of, the help section provides multiple answers as well similar questions. It also has made tracking expenses much more efficient Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isnt much of a down side, other than it would be nice to set up the card feeds to be fetched daily instead of manually going in. This could just be something I havent come across yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The well-designed interface that makes it easy to find what information your're looking for. Also it's quite flexible, in other applications I often have trouble finding what I want or adapting it to my needs. It is not the case for Zoho. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The different components should all be part of one app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I especially like the ability to map merchants in Zoho to our vendor list in QuickBooks. This was on our shortlist of must-have features, and after trying out numerous other expense management systems, Zoho was one of the few that had this feature, and it works great. Most of our expenses come into Zoho Expense via the corporate Amex feed, and the merchant names from Amex rarely match our QuickBooks vendor names. Mapping the names in Zoho expense ensures the transactions will automatically be assigned to the correct vendor names when we sync to QuickBooks, rather than automatically creating a new vendor in our vendor list every time a new merchant comes through that isn't recognized. Being able to do this mapping up front saves us time on the back end and keeps our vendor list clean. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If a credit card receipt is uploaded to Zoho Expense after the transaction has already come into Zoho Expense via the corporate card feed, that receipt will only auto match to the card transaction if the merchant name on the receipt exactly matches the merchant name from the card feed. Oftentimes they don't match exactly, and that receipt then has to be manually attached to the transaction, which takes more time. In this case it would be helpful if the receipts would auto match based upon date, amount and currency. That is how the receipt matching occurs if the receipts are uploaded to Zoho BEFORE the transaction comes through via the feed, but the process is different if the receipt is uploaded after. I was able to recreate the output of a legacy, incredibly manual expense reporting process in a couple of hours. I did lean on their support for a couple of customization things. Expense reporting used to take a few hours each month. Now I scan receipts in as I purchase, the system auto-populates most fields, and then when it's time to submit It's just the matter of verifying accuracy (that I didn't forget something) and clicking a submit button. It may seem like a small thing, but it blows my mind how they took such a PITA, timesink process, and made it barely even a minor inconvenience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could change the "Project" field to match our term for the same thing. It's no big deal, but that's the only thing my team members ask me about because in other systems (like PM and CRM, etc) we call them work orders. It feels dirty to complain though to be honest because of how great the software is and how incredibly over-the-top helpful everyone at Expense has been. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used to use a different cloud-based expense app, but find Zoho quicker and easier to upload new receipts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not like the v2.0 interface, and find the older interface that includes the Receipt Inbox so much more convenient to email receipts in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a sole proprietor, I need a solution that is not complex, straightforward and simple to use. I check out several options and this was a great fit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Would like to add a couple reporting options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was looking to get a SaaS to record our store's expenses. Our store had very specific needs. For us, it was not just expense reconciliation for staff but also using this as a tool to expnese everything. If I tip a delivery guy from company's cash box, we wanted to be able to expense that. Zoho expense turned out to be great because most of our expenses are CC and I can import our CC statement and tag each expense correctly. We are still very new to using zoho expenses but it seems like a great fit for our needs and the price point per user is very affordable and dare I say lowest in the market but the product that they're giving us is exceptional. Analytics can be a tad bit better. Reports by parent/child category with drill down option.
If you use Zoho books (which we are planning to do) then its not a problem as you can look at the report under general ledger. but if you don't use zoho books, and once you've submitted the expenses. I want to be able to see itemized expenses for the duration using Parent/Child.
Example: if I spent $20 for uber. (Child category)
I want to see
Travel Category as $20 (and then if i click on parent category, it will drill down to child categories)
and then itemized Uber: $20
Flight: $0
Train: $0

So far, I love how you can customize everything pretty much. We had a different solution that is set to end of life this month, that couldn't touch this with everything they had. (Cost is very great too). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, really the only thing I can say even remotely negative about Zoho is customer service takes a little while to get back to you, but I think that might just be a time zone thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that I can set-up the system without needing an implementation team, and that it "ticks" all the boxes of standard expense functionality ... company paid vs. personal paid, linked credit cards Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not yet explored direct integration with my accounting system, and imagine that is not as self-guided as implementation of the system generally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
