What I appreciate most about Zipher is how easy it is to see tangible results. In my role, I was deeply involved in optimizing cloud costs and searching for tools that could help lower our expenses with both cloud providers and vendors. Zipher’s solution was not only straightforward to integrate, requiring minimal adjustments on our end, but it also delivered a significant impact on our costs.

**What do you dislike about Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer?**

The main drawback of Zipher is that its cost reduction features are limited to just one area of Databricks—specifically, jobs—while the other aspects are not addressed and require other tools.

**What problems is Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We faced a persistent challenge with the rising costs of Databricks, which became increasingly difficult to control as our services expanded beyond just R&D to the entire company. Previously, we had to manually review each job and adjust its specifications to keep expenses down. However, as the number of jobs grew, we could only focus on the most critical ones, leaving many others unchecked. This situation also required us to periodically launch manual cost-saving initiatives, which often took priority over developing new business features. Since implementing Zipher, I no longer need to worry about managing Databricks costs in this way. The process is now fully autonomous, from the creation of a job to its completion, and we started seeing results within about two weeks.

The spark-aware autoscaler is significantly less wasteful than the native autoscaler, as it takes into account the context of our job runs and avoids unnecessary scaling.

I believe there is potential to further enhance efficiency by incorporating code optimization, rather than focusing solely on job optimization.

**What problems is Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The autoscaling feature in Databricks functions as intended, but I often find it too aggressive when scaling up. This results in considerable compute waste and increasing costs. In contrast, Zipher’s autoscaler is far more efficient, minimizing waste while still making sure we always have the appropriate amount of compute resources.

Zipher has consistently delivered measurable Databricks cost efficiencies while improving workload stability. It optimized cluster autoscaling by reducing unnecessary node churn and maintaining a steady balance between on-demand and spot capacity. We saw improved DBU utilization across interactive and job clusters, along with more predictable spend and faster job execution times which leads to reduce our oveall compute cost.

**What do you dislike about Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer?**

Zipher’s automated optimization works intelligently behind the scenes, analyzing historical Databricks workloads and adjusting resources based on learned patterns. Since much of this logic is abstracted, we don’t always see how decisions are made, but the hands-off experience has been smooth and effective. More visibility into the autoscaling logic would make it even easier to understand and trust the optimizations as they happen.

Zipher helped stabilize Databricks autoscaling in our dynamic workloads, reducing node churn and improving both performance and cost efficiency. Overall, it has delivered faster runtimes and meaningful cost savings with minimal oversight.

Zipher performs exactly as promised, providing notable cost savings and enhancing job performance. It helped stabilize our autoscaler by minimizing fluctuations in the cluster node configuration. After a straightforward setup, the platform needs very little ongoing attention, and the support team has been consistently responsive and pleasant to work with.

**What do you dislike about Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer?**

The primary downside is the absence of built-in dashboards and metrics, which I suspect is due to us being early adopters who have not yet upgraded. However, since we already had adequate monitoring systems to verify the tool's effectiveness, we did not see a reason to proceed with an upgrade.

Zipher has addressed our Databricks cluster management challenges, which stemmed from frequent changes in data velocity. In the past, the native autoscaler had difficulty adapting to these fluctuations, leading to excessive node shuffling. This not only extended job durations but also increased our overall costs. With Zipher, learned patterns are now used to automatically configure the cluster, which has greatly minimized node shuffle. As a result, we experience faster execution times and substantial cost savings.

Extremely easy to use - it’s really a hands-free solution and setup, as Zipher claims. We also were able to reduce our spend on cloud infra and databricks rapidly.

Better dashboards/reporting. At the end of the day, we see the savings on our bills though

Lowering costs. Our databricks workloads were not as cost optimized as we wished them to be. 
Zipher helped us reduce both costs and failure rates, making jobs cheaper and more efficient.

We needed a way to optimize our jobs on Databricks without affecting performance. Cost was
becoming an issue as we scaled. Zipher was installed quickly, without any effort from our end
and we saw our jobs become much, much less expensive very quickly

The dynamic optimization is great, but code optimization would take it a step further

We had a goal to cut our databricks and AWS costs by at least 20% before the coming year. We
easily passed that target with Zipher reaching over 40% in savings.

We installed Zipher in under 5 minutes, and started seeing savings in our cloud and Databricks bills within weeks. We also didn’t see any affect on performance, in fact our failure rates also decreased significantly

The dashboard isn’t well designed and it needs a refresh. That said, it’s still usable and I can see my savings

Databricks and cloud bills were growing faster than our ability to fine-tune and optimize. Zipher makes sure all of our jobs are configured and running as efficiently as possible.

The autoscaler delivers strong cost reduction, which is the main reason to adopt it.

Their team is very responsive and supportive, which makes troubleshooting and adoption easier.

**What do you dislike about Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer?**

The user experience is not very smooth, especially when integrating with Zipher.

It’s hard to clearly understand when and how the autoscaler is interacting with Databricks.

This lack of transparency makes onboarding and day-to-day usage less intuitive.

For us, it mainly solves the challenge of compute configuration in Databricks jobs, reducing the need for manual tuning after first initialization .

Zipher promised more than 35% savings on databricks and aws costs, we were skeptical but after a POC they delivered over 50% savings, and no adverse performance impacts

**What do you dislike about Zipher - Autonomous Intelligent Compute Layer?**

Not much, maybe I’d say the reporting could be a bit stronger - more custom drilldowns

Costs - we had a big cost cutting initiative in Q3 2025 for our cloud and data spend and we hit our goals thanks to Zipher
