Since we all work remotely, CloudApp makes it easy to comment and mark up design mockups. **What do you dislike about Zight?** If I've opened CloudApp and I haven't quit the application, if I try and take a screenshot of a current screen, CloudApp will jump to another screen rather than stay on the intended screen. I've found that I have to quit the application and restart it in order for it to prompt the intended screen. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I wouldn't say I am trying to solve a problem, but rather adapting to working in a remote environment where whiteboards aren't present. It is an amazing tool that has to facilitate the storage and sharing of visual information. Sharing link is an amazing feature this tool is easy and fun to use. The function to store your information directly to the cloud allows you to save time and not to worry about saving manually. **What do you dislike about Zight?** I actually haven't found any big issue with this tool, sometimes it crashes and takes some time to load but this doesn't happen always so It is not a big complaint. It is extremely useful and fun so no major complaints. I have found this tool amazing so I haven't found any big issue. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** I highly recommend this tool because it creates a better content sharing, with this tool you can keep everyone updated with visual content because you can take a screenshot or a video and share it easily with one link. Easy to use, easy to access, and very helpful. I like not having to use separate tools for capturing, marking up, sharing, and having discussions about captured media clips. Having a centralized place to browse all my shared bug/feature demos is much preferable to uploading raw files separately to Github, Wikis, Slack, shared drives, etc. I've been using Cloudapp since 2016, it's one of the first applications I'll install on any new laptop. **What do you dislike about Zight?** If you're not proactive about tagging your pictures and organizing them in collections, it can be hard to find pictures you've made before. Occasionally large GIF uploads may make the app freeze and require a restart. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** I didn't realize how much time CloudApp was saving me until I set up a new computer after a summer of using it, and it took ~5 minutes to correctly capture, annotate, and annotate some pictures and clips of a new feature using a more manual system screenshot + upload to shared drive workflow. It's definitely worth giving Cloudapp a try on the free plan if you find that visual communication is important in your work! **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** - Sharing in progress work with product managers and designers without requiring them to set up the development environment for feedback early in the process - Showing how to reproduce a bug visually versus writing out a long text description about a complex UI interaction saves time + makes people more comfortable with reporting small bugs that might otherwise seem like too much trouble to share - Making demos for internal presentations: The builtin annotation features (masking, opaque overlays) looks professional and have been suitable for slideshows, not just one off tickets and bug reports. ### 10. Annotating documents and showing direction are very self explanatory and there are wonderful online tutorials for how to use it as well. **What do you dislike about Zight?** There are a few steps to get into the annotating portion that weren't described, and I had to do a little hunting to figure it out, but once I did, easy as can be! **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed to create ad tear sheets for a group of sales people and this was the simplest way, in order to not use photo shop. The ability to darken parts of screenshots that I don't need is great, and they download quickly and are sharable to an entire team with one click. ### 11. Before I was using Droplr, but CloudApp has added multiple features to their screen recording software (like microphone and camera control), possibility to record screen, camera or both etc. - which made me to switch entirely. **What do you dislike about Zight?** The most important part that I'm still missing is the possibility of taking full page screenshots. At the moment of writing this review you can only do a normal full screen and chosen part of the screen, but you can't take full page screenshot. Also when scrolling recent items, collections and favourites the preview is too big and it only fits last 2 items (on desktop app). There should be an option to change this to smaller preview (so it fits let's say 5). I'd also like to have possibility of either integrating external analytics service or have them install theirs - as right now the only possibility is to count views. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm recording daily updates for my whole team - and they love it so far. Instead of only writing soulless messages we're communicating now using video messages - which is fast and can easily describe the problem/solution. Also 2 other use cases: 1) with my clients I'm sending them following personal videos: welcome, upates and thank you 2) when contacting customer support of any company, I'm sending them screenshares/videos instead of only writing - which saves a lot of time as well coming back and forth with messages. ### 13. Still, it is advantageous to have my screenshots stored in the cloud and shared that way. The tools provided for manipulating the screenshots are also helpful. Sharing videos of what is happening on my screen is also convenient with the app. Collections for organizing my shared content is an incredible innovation as well. Overall, the app has significantly improved from the earlier version I used. A significant exception, however, is the removal of sharing of files not created by the app, a feature I miss using. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** Give it a try. I'll be recording a GIF or making a video and the CloudApp will just tank, and the video will appear to be buffering but it'll never save or be available. I typically find I have to uninstall the CloudApp and reinstall it... even when there appears to be zero UI upgrades or changes. Instead, I need to click a dropdown list to select the Download option. I sometimes use Greenshot instead if I want to save a screenshot, much faster. I wish it would tell me on the screen when it would expire so I can quickly change it, if I need to. It's hidden so I sometimes forget the default. I am though not heavy user yet to fully assess all functionalities. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** Just try it out. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sending screan captures easily by way of links. This saves space in my emails and allows easy follow-up and depository of my captures in cloud. ### 31. They are all directly stored on the cloud and I can easily access them on the spot, without needing to download them. It also provides a basic editing tool. ### 32. I can access my previous videos, gifs and screen shots from anywhere. I like that it's easy to annotate and you can do video as well as still screen shots. **What do you dislike about Zight?** The one thing that is challenging is that the interface feels like it changes often, and sometimes features are hard to find after an update. Once you figure out where the features have been moved to, it's quick and easy to use. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** I would recommend CloudApp for anyone who needs to share information quickly with annotations. This can help with school work, sharing to show teachers where you are stuck. It can help with customer support or sales to help on board clients. It can help within a team to show what's working, or what is not working. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to quickly grab screen shots, and annotate them to send to customers. I am able to show them what I am seeing and get quick feedback, resolving customer issues quickly. This tool allows me to move quickly from customer to customer, and create solid documentation for our users. ### 33. I've also been able to use screen videos to show internal issues that need to be fixed. A lot of the issues are technical so they need to be shown vs. explained. I'd gladly cancel my services if there were another tool that offers everything, but there isn't. I've spoken to customer service multiple times and even got on a call with them to have the app replaced (I had done so myself several times before getting on a call with them). I use my computer for work stuff only: internet use, emailing, and zoom calls. I have a few different programs on my computer, but nothing too extreme. I have an insane amount of memory and storage, so it's not that. There really is no reason this should be happening, which was confirmed by the sales team the last time we spoke. The sales team has always been lovely but the tool itself needs improvements.
