I really like the dashboard and the reporting in Zeni. The ability to provision new users and share different parts of the product/reports is good. I also appreciate the reporting feature, the dashboard, and the ability to dig into the reports to see the background of expenses, which was very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Zeni? I'm extremely disappointed with Zeni. Their customer service is the worst I've ever had. I'd used Zeni at a previous company. We cancelled our contract with them there because we ended up getting nickeled and dimed for everything we asked for help with, and because of the state of the business, it didn't make sense for us to continue. I started a new company, and the scope of services we needed were more aligned with what Zeni offered. However at the outset, I shared my concerns from the previous time, and asked for a month-to-month contract so in case expectations didn't line up, we could part ways and I could find something better aligned to our needs. They told me it would be more expensive, which I understood, and we moved forward. Fast forward 6 months. Our business outgrew the initial needs, and when we asked for help with things I thought were covered in the contract, I came to find they weren't and we were again getting nickel and dimed. I began shopping for an alternative solution that offered what we needed in our price range, found one, and then requested to terminate the contract. At that point they notified me that it wasn't a month-to-month contract, but month-to-month billing on a 12 month contract. This is obviously not what the spirit of my initial conversations with them intended (billing wasn't my concern, I was fine with the monthly price, I was worried about mismatch of needs v. services). While trying to resolve the disagreement with their Client Success team, one of their Senior Managers said: "In the spirit of partnership, we would like to explore a more aligned path forward. Based on the feedback you've shared, we're open to matching the pricing and structure of the alternative solution you're considering, with the goal of ensuring continuity while better aligning with your evolving needs." I spent the next month trying to figure out what that would look like. I continually had to follow up with them for updates, before eventually they came back to me and said: "...your contract already includes meaningful value...incorporating these additional services while maintaining the level of quality and support expected would not be feasible with a [$xxx] price point. The scope your'e outlining extends beyond what that pricing tier is designed to support." So after understand what I was looking for, and offering to match the price and services, they recanted and said they wouldn't do it. This exchange is representative of what working with them has been like, and I'd maintain your distance unless you like working with companies that see you as nothing more than a revenue stream. Zeni is very strong at building clear workflows and actually following them. Their reporting has been especially valuable — it makes forecasting and understanding growth across different parts of the business much easier. Very little. They operate on hours that differ from ours since we’re PST, which can occasionally create small timing challenges, but it’s minor and hasn’t impacted outcomes or responsiveness in a meaningful way. Recommendations to others considering Zeni: If you have a complex or high-volume billing model and want strong processes, clean reporting, and a team that can scale with you, Zeni is a great partner. What problems is Zeni solving and how is that benefiting you? Zeni handles all of our billing, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Our business model is nuanced, with a high volume of weekly transactions that vary by client type, billing cadence, and service structure. They do an excellent job managing both recurring and one-off billing, setting up new clients correctly, and staying on top of follow-ups. Realistically, this would require at least one full-time hire (if not two) to manage internally. Zeni has been a meaningful step up for us since transitioning from our previous provider. They’re highly detail-oriented and extremely organized—doing the heavy lifting to get our books in the right order while minimizing what they need from us, which gives us time back. Meetings are efficient because they show up prepared, and requests are clearly tracked and easy to complete. I find Zeni easy to use, especially when transitioning to a new company. Their support is super attentive to our numbers, with a great team designated to help us through any questions. They consistently fix bugs in Zeni BillPay, so we never have issues with the app. I enjoy how I can approve bills through my permission levels, and my CFO takes care of higher bills which helps fix previous bill pay issues. Zeni has saved us a lot of time by entering bills for approval easily. Their expertise in bookkeeping, keeping our ledgers and books up to date, is very valuable. They are very knowledgeable in GAAP principles, which is impressive and helpful. Zeni also helps improve our use of QuickBooks by keeping our numbers up to date and addressing loose ends. If I could change anything about Zeni, it would be that I would hope that they would be available maybe past 12PM Pacific Standard Time. Sometimes it's really hard to get a hold of them anytime after twelve midday, because it seems like most of their teams are international, so they're out of the day. So it would be helpful if they had some people that were there up until maybe four or 5PM Pacific Standard Time where they could still answer all our questions, and we wouldn't have to wait the next day. I really appreciate how Zeni provides excellent visibility and clarity into the company's budget and helps track the burn rate against the plan effectively. It is very beneficial that uploading the plan is straightforward, which allows us to easily monitor our progress versus the plan. The access controls are another aspect I like, as they enable multiple people to check progress asynchronously without causing any disruption. The intuitive nature of the platform makes it easy to grasp, and it encompasses everything needed for budgeting purposes, which is highly convenient. We engaged with Zeni in June to clean up our revenue and accounting. It's been EIGHT MONTHS, and we've paid Zeni over EIGHT THOUSAND dollars, and it's STILL NOT DONE. Last month, they deducted 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS from our bank without our approval. It turned out to be an 'accident' - and then took over a week for them to return the money. Every interaction with them, they give me the runaround. Our revenue is not done. I have received literally nothing of value after paying more than 8 thousand dollars over the last 8 months. So now, I stopped payments, and I've demanded that they finish our revenue before I continue paying. And now they've paused services. I will be reporting this fraudulent company to the FTC.
