## Zabbix Reviews
  ### 1. The most one can expect from open-source for monitoring critical and production systems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arturo D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix was mostly created during the time it was created precisely for this. This is everything that happens in a fun way like everything and still. Zabbix is very nice and well made to be used.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

So, we are really trying to kick off Zabbix. What I like most about everything is the beauty and similarity of all this. It's not really a challenge to start and change the thing. You can also choose your love and all your thoughts. Moreover, this is a real dream and if you don't like something and you can do it, you can do it. The ideas help to understand that the questions have been retrieved and many have been made throughout the course.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

There are many pieces of equipment for which ready-made models do not exist. It takes a lot of time to search for models on the Internet. And writing models by oneself is very problematic.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

However, I don't think I had to do anything about what is being said to make it happen. I should understand what is there, the choice is absolutely not as it could be. I am one of the authors of what was necessary. I thought that the deceased should have let go and understood something important and of great significance.

  ### 2. Moderately easy to set up, but once active, it helps a lot in daily work, brilliant

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicola C. | Service Maintenance Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

The ease of setting up our various systems in Zabbix and reviewing recorded metrics in a GUI are probably the best features for our team. We have a lot of resources and are not generally pushing them to the limit. However, when issues arise, the ability to analyze and correlate the load across multiple hosts has been a great win.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

A monitoring system and the story of the boy who cried wolf, the two would never meet. Unfortunately, we have some situations where we receive so many messages about an error that it leads to the formation of bad habits. This is largely due to our system architecture and the way specific monitors detect and report the same issue across multiple hosts. In particular, the memory usage on a shared mount. We have made progress in solving this problem, but it continues to be a source of spam and desensitization to warning messages.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

We have used other monitoring systems like Nagios and Hyperion. Zabbix is a simple solution that has many of the core features you would want from a system/application monitoring application. I recommend it as a tool to evaluate when considering system monitors.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have several hosts on multiple tests and an operational environment. Being able to integrate the monitoring of those into a single monitoring solution has been a critical aspect of our approach to systems. Being able to create custom screens/dashboards for metrics of great interest makes it easier to filter out the noise and focus on what matters most to us.

  ### 3. The monitoring of routers and switches is simple, fast, and through secure protocols.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ermanno A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix is a monitoring software for multiple network parameters, server operability, and server status. Zabbix uses a flexible notification scheme that allows users to set up email alerts for almost any event. This feature allows for quick reactions to server issues. Zabbix offers brilliant visualization and information capabilities based on the collected data. This is why Zabbix can be considered an ideal tool for scaling and modeling.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

We like that Zabbix functions as an extractor and hunter. All statistics, tool settings, and reports in Zabbix are available through the web interface. The web interface establishes the necessary network status for you to be able to assess the working servers from anywhere. It is noted that a well-tuned Zabbix plays an essential role in monitoring the IT infrastructure.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Properly configuring disk space helps avoid sudden resizing or data migrations due to the large amount of data and files created by Zabbix.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fortunately, this platform has not caused a lot of problems for our team. However, there are some things that they are not entirely satisfied with. On one hand, the customization options for the user provide a series of obvious advantages. But on the other hand, if you don't have the opportunity to dedicate time to managing the program, it is no longer an advantage. The program cannot display data related to text types.

  ### 4. Highest quality but the setup is repetitive, boring, and often poorly documented, necessary!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix offers incredibly flexible monitoring and reporting on a huge number of metrics. While it is not the most intuitive option, the ability to control the environment from many different perspectives outweighs the time spent setting it up.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

It is not at all intuitive to set up, as I have already mentioned, this is enormously offset by the product's flexibility. The configuration of this product should not be taken lightly, as it requires time and demands systems and network experience.

Furthermore, many settings need to be cloned or turned off and on again to make the changes effective, despite pressing the Apply button, all in a completely random and non-repetitive manner.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Spend a few extra minutes learning/studying Bash or Python scripting languages, they are extremely useful as external scripts and alert scripts to use in Zabbix to achieve functionalities such as alerting via Telegram or WhatsApp.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product offers enormous flexibility for monitoring services and machines on our network and even regarding inventory management.

  ### 5. Without a doubt, the best open source tool for alerting and monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Germano C. | Research and development manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix, specifically version 4 which guarantees long-term support, is a performant and reliable tool for continuous monitoring of servers, hosts, guests, and other types of devices in both agent and agentless modes. The suite is aimed at maintaining SLAs and being proactive with related alerting in case of threshold breaches or trigger values. Its extensibility is practically infinite, and I will explain why later. However, as of today, I can undoubtedly define it as the best tool for monitoring and alerting technical and support teams.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

The only thing that has not been resolved in 4 versions of Zabbix, and I believe negatively impacts the user experience, is the lack of a wizard capable of supporting the user, whether advanced, intermediate, or basic, in the complete creation of an item and its subsequent connection with alerts, triggers, hosts, graphs, and so on.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Zabbix, it is possible for us, in the case of threshold breaches or hosts with alarming values during non-working and unmonitored hours, to automate continuous checks of various kinds immediately after the event detection and for the following minutes/hours. These checks are created through bash scripting and launched on the impacted machine via agent (if available) or SSH/telnet. Without Zabbix, all this logic of periodic post-alarm checks would have been our responsibility to design and would have taken hours and hours of work and entire teams of developers and system administrators.

  ### 6. Very useful for monitoring but a real nightmare to configure!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio I. | DevOps Engineer , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix is beautiful, powerful, performant, complete, and allows you to design, plan, and execute any type of monitoring you can think of or conceive.
It can be easily integrated with any scripting and programming language, from bash to Python, and also allows, through pre-set actions, the creation of standard items for basic monitoring of services, ICMP values, and upstream and downstream bandwidth.
The agentless mode works well, but for total control and data retrieval, it is necessary to prefer, where possible, the installation of the official LTS agent on the Windows or Linux VM, to put it briefly, it is the perfect tool to have full and immediate knowledge of what is happening in your network and/or in your cluster of physical or virtual hosts. Highly recommended in this regard!

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

the process of creating hosts, inventory, items, alerts, and graphs is still too cumbersome due to the concatenation of operations to be performed to achieve the final result of proactive monitoring of a host. I believe it is particularly costly to operate manually with such lengthy procedures in the case of deployments with a large number of hosts. There is no possibility to import or export the configuration of the previously mentioned points, and unfortunately, there is no wizard to simplify the work for system administrators.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to design and set up a proactive alerting system capable of notifying specific teams in case of issues with both virtual and physical on-prem hosts to avoid breaching the SLAs imposed or contracted with the client. I believe that Zabbix has done its job more than excellently, and I spent very little money except for what was necessary to maintain the machine it runs on. Long live open source solutions!

  ### 7. The best stable and long-term solution for proactivity on systems and devices of any kind

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riccardo T. | Senior Maintenance Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix 4 in LTS version is practically free and open-source, well documented both officially and unofficially, and has a forum full of how-tos, tips, and use cases. However, the strength of this very important tool/framework is the ability to create alerts and items of various kinds, more or less complex, through integration with the Linux bash scripting language or by running Python, Ruby scripts, or utilities for probing and information gathering like Zenmap. The default actions are, in my opinion, excellent for an initial deployment and basic monitoring of the running status of one or more hosts.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

Nothing negative, but a wizard mode guided procedure on the dashboard to easily create new items without having to go through individual links and connections would be greatly appreciated by the Zabbix and IT community.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to monitor more than 350 hosts considered business- and infrastructure-critical, and I would have had to create 350 or more manual scripts and the related scheduling if Zabbix didn't exist. It helped me save more than 70 days of work and about 4 colleagues from my team who were able to focus on other tasks. Spectacular!

  ### 8. APIs completely open, documented, and integrable practically with any language, perfect!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfredo B. | Senior .NET Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

We have used Zabbix for several years across multiple data centers. In the initial phase, the delegated monitoring capability solved some problems for us. Over the years, it has scaled very well, and we regularly monitor thousands of virtual machines with hundreds of monitored items each. The API works quite well, and we have been able to write very useful automation within it. We monitor our most important servers with Zabbix, and it works very well.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

We should probably limit the default length for new story elements. Initially, we had scaling issues because we had so much history to move. The web user interface in previous versions is not very nice. It's improving, but there are a couple of versions behind.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Learning the API has been useful for creating very specific automation and dashboards. I would recommend learning the API early to fully realize its benefits, as it is possible to completely query the values of Zabbix, alerts, alarms, and triggers with the simplicity of a GET call or a POST request with both XML and JSON output.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through the APIs, we were able to integrate a Telegram bot and a WhatsApp bot capable of alerting the appropriate people and teams for each type of problem or alert arising from more or less critical resources. The alerting is immediate and can include both graphs and histograms, as well as detailed texts of errors, issues, and timestamps.

  ### 9. Excellent Tool For Monitoring All Systems.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica W. | Mechanical Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix tracks our systems and facilities and automatically sends out the alert, so that we can deal with the problem and fix it immediately. I like the Zabbix most because it allows several users to set up emails and simultaneously receive updates in real time.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

The problem he has and is addressing is his interface, which in this new version was no longer very successful.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

In order to monitor efficiently all available servers and facilities, I advise everyone to use this great monitoring tool, and it already specifies the issue.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zabbix is ideally suited to track both our internal systems and our different customers to ensure that the quality of service delivered is always maintained. It's a device I really like because I deal with it every day, but it's always transferring my data specifically, so that I can receive notifications in the event of circuits left unmanaged. It is code that is very useful.

  ### 10. Really useful tool.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Máté K. | DevOps Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

You can show your management pretty enourmos graphs.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

Not a modern, user friendly UI, it could be much better.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Go for it. One of the best monitoring tools.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continouosly monitoring, server related issues like high CPU / Heap Memory issues.

  ### 11. THE BEST WAY TO MONITORING

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danny Rafael R. | Analista de Infraestructura y Redes, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

The interface is quite intuitive and simple, which allows for easy interaction when reviewing and controlling the generated alerts and, of course, its quick resolution. Zabbix allows deep customization of conditions and alerts giving you the ability to perform nearly any scripted action in a variety of scenarios.
screens or graphs showing customizable and color-coded historical usage is a necessity in any monitoring software and obviously the possibility to have in one place to see a list of all on-going problems and list of servers within your organization is critical

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

In some cases, the documentation about external scripts for implementation is a bit confusing, in the same way some templates do not turn out to be compatible with some of the services or servers to be monitored and cannot be deleted, or at least, they cannot be How to do it yet.

The first time that you use Zabbix, it may not be immediately obvious where everything is or how to find exactly what you want, but I think that it's UI is constantly improving with each new release. Training is also a great resource to resolve these types of problems.

I have personally never found the "Maps" feature of Zabbix incredibly useful as I find it complicated to configure, but I should probably investigate its documentation further.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

it's the best way to monitoring easily all your infraestructure, it's pretty easy to configure and the community is pretty big and kind to help you.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my current job, it allows us to have an accurate and secure control over what happens in real time with our park of servers, being able to react in time when any eventuality happens, which means that we are in service 24/7 without any kind of shock.

  ### 12. Zabbix Monitoring Tool Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SHASHANK G. | Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

There are different views about Zabbix which vary from people to people and from industry to industry. The best part of Zabbix is customization of alerts as per our need/requirement. We can monitor servers, VM's, Web monitoring by declaring a set of keys which will trigger alerts like filesystem monitoring, CPU usage monitoring, Memory monitoring, etc.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

We cannot export reports i.e. reporting is weak. It requires a lot of resources when compared to Nagios. The huge amount of data will be collected in our database if not tuned properly. Also, SNMP monitoring is a challenge as firewalls can cause problems for which we require a number of connections.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Please make sure you keep tuning your data to avoid performance issue. This is one thing which can trouble you. Also, have a check with the network team whether a firewall is blocking any connection. This is very common after you install an agent on a server and not able to communicate to the master server.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Firstly, Zabbix is an open source software so definitely, it has helped us in cost reduction. We can customize the alerts as per our requirement. For example, if we want an alert to be triggered when filesystem falls below the threshold limit of 80%. Coming to the web monitoring part, we can monitor every page whether it is loaded or not. This, in turn, has helped us to keep track of our website availability.

  ### 13. Our Experience With The Monitoring System Zabbix

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andre R. | I am a developer and support analyst in several areas and segments of technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix is a control-software for manifold network parameters, servers’ operability and status of servers. Zabbix uses a malleable notification scheme that allows users to set up alarm signals by mail for almost every event. This function makes it possible to react rapidly to difficulties with the server. Zabbix offers brilliant visualization and informing capabilities based on the collected data. That’s why Zabbix can be considered an ideal tool for scaling and modeling.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

We like that Zabbix functioning as a puller and trapper. All statistics, instrument settings, and reports in Zabbix are available through the web-interface. Web-interface establishes the necessary state of the network for you to be able to estimate your servers working from anywhere. It is hereto that a well-tuned Zabbix plays an essential part in monitoring the IT infrastructure.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

This is the best monitoring system for me. With a great desire, you can monitor any equipment.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fortunately, this platform hasn’t caused lots of problems for our team. But, there are some things we are not entirely satisfied. On the one hand, the possibility of the user’s customization gives a range of obvious benefits. But on the other hand, if you don’t have a possibility to devote time to managing the program, it’s not an advantage anymore. For the program it is impossible to display the data about text types, to boo

  ### 14. Satisfactory monitoring

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gledson R. | L2 Network Analyst, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Easy dashboard, intuitive settings, faithful sensors, efficient triggers, accurate graphics, complete inventory and reporting, a true monitoring tool and still free.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

For those who do not know, it is complicated to set up, but nothing that a good search does not help and you are improving, but there was a big change in the new version and left a bit confusing.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

I certainly indicate the use of the solution, as it will greatly help in managing your infrastructure, from small IT environments to large backbones. Reducing costs and waste of time with unproductivity. Indispensable in incident management and disaster prevention in datacenters.
Not to mention that the solution does not have costs for acquisition, only with training of its team to leave the solution well established.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The tool helps us daily in the monitoring of our clients' backbone and circuits. In addition to alerts, maps are an important resource for those who need to manage a decentralized infrastructure.

  ### 15. Functionalities and their attributes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renato B. | Analista de Operações de Redes, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

We use the tool for mapping and capacity utilization in our backbone, where in addition to monitoring, we create triggers for actions in certain services that we configure

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

Sometimes we have difficulty with the native templates that come in the application library, though it's not something to criticize.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Application provides a great graphical interface and contains the possibility of creating maps for verification of bandwidth utilization and triggers for specific pre-determined actions.
Great application.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Map of the use of band of clients and backbone, triggers for certain actions.

  ### 16. Open Source Monitoring Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel C. | Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

The fact that the software is open source and free. Not to mention the infinite network monitoring capabilities available.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

Because the software is open source, many of the features must be deployed in a personalized way by each user, as there are not many "predefined templates".

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Implant the software without fear of making mistakes, it will exceed your expectations with its immense amount of resources and customization.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through SNMP and ICMP protocols, it is possible to monitor power failures, closed / open ports, unavailable equipment, latency oscillations, fiber optic signals and so on. The mapping application for monitoring is fantastic, collaborating on the mapping of cities, states and countries.

  ### 17. zabbix, efficiency at all times

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

we use zabbix to monitor our internal systems, and also to monitor our customers.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

I do not like much of a delay that sometimes occurs, so we ended up getting in touch with the customers.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

I would definitely recommend zabbix for all companies as it is great for monitoring internal systems and all customers.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we solved many problems with zabbix, because any alert, we got in immediate contact with our client, and undoubtedly, the customer is very satisfied.

  ### 18. Monitoramento com Zabbix

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Zabbix is a great tool. I really like the freedom to create dashboards and network mapping. And the best part... It is using the SNMP protocol!!!

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

It is not so easy to install. You need to configure the database.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Use in your company. Great tool for those who want to have real-time information about their infrastructure.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zabbix is a monitoring tool for networks, servers, and services, designed to monitor availability, user experience, and service quality. The Zabbix network monitoring tool offers a 100% web interface to manage and display data. Alerts from the Zabbix monitoring system can be configured to use various communication methods, such as SMS, email, and opening tickets in helpdesk systems. The system also allows automatic actions like restarting services to be executed from events.

  ### 19. zabbix, the ideal monitoring for companies.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sandro l. | system analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

we use zabbix to monitor all our internal systems, and with the help of zabbix, we solve many problems in a very short time.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

I do not like that at certain times, the zabbix ends up having delays and it takes time for the alert to appear, and we end up taking care of the problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

I recommend zabbix for the company that wants to have an efficient monitoring tool capable of helping you in everything that is needed.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

with it we have several benefits, because it helps us to control all our systems quickly and effectively.

  ### 20. Zabbix Review!!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

It is a very lightweight and effective tool for monitoring ports and protocols.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

It works well, nothing to report at the moment.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ease in monitoring hardware and networking

  ### 21. Powerful monitoring tool with many plugins and addons available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joey O. | Sr Sys Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

I love that Zabbix is extendable. Specifically that you can write custom applications for it's database, including responding to events within the application itself.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

While the community is strong, I felt like some elements of the Zabbix interface did require somewhat of a steep learning curve. Once you get past that, however, it's a fantastic tool to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

The fact that the group behind Zabbix offers a virtual machine to get you started on makes it a snap to get started with. Even if you need to resize based on your needs, having the basic starter in the virtual machine was super helpful.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Performance monitoring and alerting. Previously we had to maintain multiple systems (Cacti/Nagios, etc), but Zabbix support many of the same features out of the box and has the ability to install agents on Solaris (a big win for us) that made adding hosts very trivial.

Its interface is not very friendly, the administration of the items within the devices is not practical, it should have a simpler administration in terms of the items within the devices.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

For the implementation of Zabbix, you must have a defined plan, define the scope and stages in which the monitoring of the devices will be done and monitor them at each stage, because it is usually overwhelming when trying to address the set of items in the solution

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows visibility of the devices, was created as part of our platform to comply with GDRP showing logs and the demonstration of the availability times of each device.

  ### 28. Comprehensive Monitoring for Everything

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix isn't limited to monitoring just one or two aspects of an environment. It can monitor all systems and bring in just about anything that outputs a counter or log file to be monitored.
The system can perform trending analysis and determine when a problem is getting ready to happen, not just rely on thresholds.
The system utilizes MySQL which is easy to find literature on how to manage. It is also preparing to support Elasticsearch for a storage back-end which can scale massively.
The use of agents means that there are multiple points of monitoring which distributes the monitoring load. It also means that other products which rely on a centralized "probe" to read counters don't get too bogged down or take out multiple monitoring points when they fault.
Because Zabbix is open source it is easy to run a setup in both your Production and development environments which makes testing much easier.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

While the use of agents is great, it also means that you have to keep them updated as time passes. This means that there's a management aspect to keeping Zabbix up and running. Also if the agent stops running you lose your counters for that time period.
Because the system is open-source you will rely on yourself or the community to write monitoring packages for the systems or applications that you are keeping an eye on. Because of this if something changes and you're using a package that is abandoned or hasn't been updated in a long time you may find yourself fixing the bugs solo. WHile this means you can keep things up and running it also means that you may need to scrap your monitors at some point and recreate them in order to keep a system monitored.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Have a solid understanding of Linux. Also an understanding of MySQL or PostgreSQL is a must. If setting up HA you will need to know how to configure SQL monitoring and backups.
A full understanding of the environment you are monitoring is key. If you don't know how it works you can't monitor it. This is true of all monitoring products, not just Zabbix.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Systems monitoring with predictive analytics.
Capacity planning.
We now no longer have to pay for our monitoring solution. Where in the past we paid for our monitoring solution and then had to ensure we didn't breach our license, our only concern now is that our Zabbix server can handle the load.

  ### 29. excellent to monitor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis P. | Superintendente, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

1.- It's Open Source, which means if you don't like something, you can change it. You don't have a company behind you telling you what improvements you need; if you need them, you develop them and you already have them.

2.- The Zabbix team is really good, and I say this because I've seen how Nagios, Cacti, and other projects fall into oblivion and don't evolve because they are projects without a company behind them. Didn't you say it was Open Source? Yes. It is Open Source, but you have a company that, if you need support, offers it to you at prices... laughably low, compared to any other tool I can say it is between 80% and 90% cheaper.

3.- The Zabbix community, in forums, blogs, and others, is really active. It's a good project, and people need this type of tool in their companies because of the low cost and how they perform in large environments.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

I do not like the graphical aspect of the graphics it provides very much. If they could improve their attractiveness, it would be excellent because they can be used for delivering executive reports. Normally, I use the data and transfer them to my own graphics to be able to present them.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

improve GUI, but they are the best for monitoring tools

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had software that monitored, but it didn't perform this task as well as Zabbix, so I was able to improve the monitoring department with this tool, allowing me to monitor many more things than the other one.

The main benefit was being able to monitor more things and in a better way.

  ### 30. My experience with Zabbix

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** marcos l. | Desarrollador de software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

The best thing about Zabbix in my experience is that it has very detailed reports, obtaining graphs in different formats of all the information about the network status and the hosts that are deemed appropriate. It supports a large number of platforms (Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X, Tru64/OSF1, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista). It resides in its web interface supported by an SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite). It has a proactive system that allows problems to be solved automatically, a monitoring system, alerts, and graph visualization that other monitoring systems do not have. It is open source.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

The worst thing about Zabbix, in my opinion, is that it is very complex to use. The user manuals are very extensive, which discourages many users from using it.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

I would not recommend it to users without experience in this type of software, as it is quite complex and takes time to get used to it. On the other hand, I would recommend it to people with experience, as it is quite powerful.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can monitor application servers in real time to know their status at the moment, and view incident or load histories.

  ### 31. Great open-source solution and nagios replacement

I find it very easy to use and the snmpd polling features flawless. We utilize this to monitor our production sites and have never had problems with false reporting. The GUI is easy to navigate and installing/setup on Linux very easy.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

Nothing to currently dislike, this product has met all of our network and system monitoring needs.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We require all systems up with strict SLA. zabbix has allowed us to respond quickly when systems become inaccessible or when network switch ports change to disable. Great tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

The tool provides monitoring of most anything that can be monitored on a system. We use it for our Windows and Linux workstations and servers.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

The interface is sometimes not as intuitive and the learning curve for using it can be steep.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

I recommend trying it. Despite the steep learning curve in how to do certain tasks, Zabbix is very effective.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Zabbix, we are monitoring the status of workstation and server systems. We receive an alert based on defined attributes. For example if CPU usage stays at 95% or higher for more than 5 minutes the team receives an email with the information about the workstation or server.

  ### 33. Great monitoring software

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

It lacks some advanced monitoring capabilities.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Zabbix is definitely a robust monitoring tools, which is open source with good community support.
It provides everything we needs to monitor our IT infrastructure. While there are various templates, wit h Zabbix you are able to change triggers and create the system what works for you.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are monitoring the entire data center IT infrastructure, network devices and servers. Generally, Zabbix has been proved as a reliable solution for continuous monitoring. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to implement monitoring solution.

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

this software is very well to create your monitoring tool safely and cheaply, with a physical server of not much capacity you can create a very useful and robust tool, very competitive with the market monitoring tools is quite versatile, with little knowledge in programming you can do it without problems.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

i cant said anything wrong about this software is very good, you can handle everything about monitoring, if i said you can implement a monitoring server whit a small server and a few command lines you believe me?

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

totally recommended if you need an application to monitor your network this is the least option in the market is very good and cheap to implement.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i did solve so many problem whit this app , because it permit you see the behavior of the network and see anything problem in it, that is the most relevan feature of this software, the versatility that you can add in your netwrok whit this software is so good you can change your NOC for better.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

There is a bit of a learning curve that happens with any new software, and Zabbix is no exception. The menus and navigation could certainly be improved to make it more intuitive to use.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The real-time monitoring and lightweight nature of the tools make it a staple for several teams!

  ### 37. Excellent alerting and monitoring platform - very flexible and powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

Zabbix is very flexible and thus powerful. It can be customized in many different ways and supports a great deal of systems/sensors. We use it to monitor and alert on software/hardware/events/conditions/health status across hundreds of servers, hundreds of sites, thousands of workstations and thousands of network devices. The ability to configure the system in your specific way instead of being forced to do it how the vendor wants you to use the system is its main benefit.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

It can be somewhat complex to configure and use, especially for those new to it or those who use it infrequently. It takes some skill to navigate to the right screen/page for actions/status items that you may need. It's data presentation can also be very overwhelming or not very easy to digest in a glance.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

If you need powerful and flexible monitoring and alerting solution - then try Zabbix, but keep in mind that it is not very intuitive and can be complicated to setup. It can do a lot for technology based organizations or those that have very significant IT infrastructure. Role based permissions and actions help limit tasks that employees can do within the software.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We monitor a lot of mission critical software and hardware across 80 organization. Zabbix alerts us on any out of norm conditions or problems. This way we know about a problem often before our clients do.

Repeating tickets.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We provide server monitoring for clients to monitor SQL, backups, raid, server state.

Helps us ensure our clients are up and running and we can get a jump on issues that we may see arising from the alerts.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Zabbix?**

This product runs without fail. I have used it with 5 proxies and never had a problem. One thing you need to count on is your monitoring system being stable. Others I have used aren't as reliable, then you are never sure if you are getting false alerts or have alerting coverage. This does all the standard monitoring and alerting very well.

**What do you dislike about Zabbix?**

The interface isn't the greatest and they could do some web performance monitoring a little better.

**Recommendations to others considering Zabbix:**

Free and open source, so it works as well as you have time to put in to it, but it is very powerful. Support on the forums is pretty good, and templates have been created for a lot of servers/devices out there.

**What problems is Zabbix solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We monitor servers with the agent, SNMP devices, JMX endpoints and REST web APIs.
