  ### 1. Great tool to free up recruiters time

**What do you like best about Xref?**

The automation is the best part for us. It allows our recruiters to focus on finding the best talent rather than back and forth chasing up missed calls. It's also great for allowing the referee to complete in their own time which often is out of hours for our retail workforce. It's particularly useful for our bulk recruitment where references are necessary however the volume can take our recruiters away from more valuable tasks.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

Probably the only downside is removing that opportunity to network with the referees and build new relationships there. In those cases where we feel the referee is someone we'd like to chat to further this is easily manager by simply completing the check over the phone in that instance.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to finalise hiring decisions a lot faster by empowering the candidate and referee to complete the checks at a time that suits them best. We're also able to obtain great data and compare references which is very useful.

Xref includes an opt-in function that can be added to the end of the reference questionnaire and asks referees if they would be happy to be contacted in the future about employment opportunities. This, coupled with our People Search tool, allows Xref users to compliantly collect and store referee data that can then be used for talent pooling.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

It's a real time-saving when you are hiring at such a high volume. It's also great the tracking it does on any suspicous behaviour that may be associated with the reference check and the email notifications are great.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

Sometimes the integration with Checkr is difficult to manage - the 2 systems don't always speak to each other the way I would like. For example, when you want to stop a check it doesn't remove it from the Xref platform although you have cancelled it from Checkr.

Great for high-volume recruitment.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fraudulent checks are the biggest problem solver and helps us to weed out candidates that would not be an appropriate fit for our organization.

Simple to use, structured and lets you know when responses received

It’s aggressive sending reminders out to referees. Too many and too often. Also poor customer service. I sent an email and never got a reply.

Easy to use, simple and send your notifications

None, I emailed them my initial problem re sending out too many reminders and never got a response.

that it is a simple process to use and it saves me a lot of time

the fact that i cant delete requests sent by a colleague and the fact that if someone else opens the XREF and uploads it on to our internal system it doesn't show a tick on it, only if I open it.

**Recommendations to others considering Xref:**

use it - it makes the reference process much easier!

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This process is time saving. I can interview up to 4 people per day and if i were doing 2 verbal interviews per person every day it would take up a lot of time. By using XREF it is also easy to keep track of the ref checks - to see if people have sent them to their referees and if they have replied. Referees can also answer the XREF when they have the time to, rather than me calling them and them saying they don't have the time now and to call back later.

Time saving and accessible for all (incl across time zones) with the ability to focus on key areas if required dependent on the role. There is also the technology to pick up on potential fraud responses

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

Can’t think of too many negatives. I’m a big fan of the platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Xref:**

Find this platform very easy to use. Now that you can customise your checks, it’s even better. Very easy from a recruiter and candidate perspective.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Main benefit is the time saving as I’m not spending 20-30 mins on the phone to the referee, and then cleaning up my notes (let alone chasing them for a convenient time to chat)

Very accurate and great if someone does try to trick the system 
Gives referee's the chance to complete it in their own time and out of hours

It would be good if you could edit emails if they are incorrect or remove one of the references without having to stop the whole thing.

It saves time from chasing referees, it is mostly easy to understand. e.g. the icons and visuals used in references

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

The inability to add in probes, confusion about how to use the candidate+referee notes effectively, the negative sentiment bar was often incorrect.

**Recommendations to others considering Xref:**

Set up the questionnaires based on well performing questions. Xref creates ease of use but delegate a super user to assist with creating consistency. It still requires candidate contact to make sure they understand the process and who appropriate referees are. A communication plan to let your clients/stakeholders know about how to use Xref would also be a good change management strategy during implementation.

Quicker turnaround times compared to verbal references. More time can be spent on other value add tasks. The ability to report on the statistics/quality of the references coming back.

Perfect for out of country & hard to reach references. We hire a lot of new comers to Canada and Xref helps us reach out to companies all over the world via e-mail.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

Turnaround time can vary depending on the candidate. We need Xref to be as simple as possible as we are using it for a variety of positions from general labour to senior management roles. 
Our candidate pool is multi-generational and multi-cultural - not everyone is tech savy or has a computer available.

Nothing.  The only frustrating thing would be not having people come back to you however this is something that you can't help

nothing its very easy to be able to use - being quick with your candidates and giving them direct communication to expect to have an email coming through from Xref always makes the process much quicker.  I have never had candidates come back with questions on how to use so i think that shows its very easy on both the candidate and client

It's helped me be more efficient and a lot quicker at getting back to my clients.

I like the ease of use and the fact that responses are quick to system generated emails.

Until recently, it was the fact that customised questions couldn't be added into reference requests.

Consider the time traditional references take to gather and how hard it can be to contact referees. XRef saves a considerable amount of time and is easy to use for the administrator, candidate and their referees

The tool saves a huge amount of time and effort with taking verbal references. The questions also mean that comprehensive responses are received.

Xref is extremely easy to use. It integrates seamlessly with our ATS so we can send reference requests to all candidates with the click of a few buttons. The system sends reminder emails to candidates who have not responded as well, ensuring we get references as quickly as possible. It saves our team a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

There is nothing that I dislike about using Xref.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Xref makes it easy to connect with references. The online form allows references to submit information on their own time, and saves the Talent team from playing phone tag with them. 

I also appreciate that Xref will notify us of potentially fraudulent references by tracking the IP address used by the candidate and their reference, and how much time has passed since they worked together.

XRef makes it really easy to create your own questions and send request through! What was once a very tedious part of the recruitment process, is now seamless!

There's nothing that I dislike abut the product

Getting in touch with references by the phone, which is time consuming and you are calling people who are currently working - so they are not always available. 

It allows you to go back and see detailed notes references have added themselves - any time after.

The ease with which you are able to action reference checking with a potential candidate.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

This is not really within Xref's control, but some referees provide very limited written feedback necessitating a verbal phone reference as well.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There is no excuse not to reference check a candidate.  The online functionality makes it easier to contact referees, especially if they are overseas or in different time zones.

Translation services - We were not able to launch our French Xref platform for months. & The amount of emails they send (too many!).

Filter your inbox so that all Xref emails go into a specific folder. You will be getting a lot of emails from Xref.

Xref is a real simple and easy to use system that has all the functionality that we require to obtain thorough reference checks.

Introducing Xref to our recruitment and onboarding process has saved our small HR department a lot of admin time - no more chasing outstanding reference checks, the system does it for us!

Easy to use functionality, geo-tracking and simple fast process to upload candidate details and send out reports.

Can sometimes indicate negative comments on the reference report, when in reality it is positive or neutral.

Quicker turn around time for candidates, able to send out / translate reports in other languages, easy to access for users (mobile friendly).

**What do you like best about Xref?**

Ease of use for candidate and recruiter. You can easily share the results with the hiring manager and it has interesting analytics about the tone and how much is written. 

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

I wish you had the ability to edit and upload your own reference forms rather than going through a Customer Success Manager. Additionally, if you require different types of references you can not choose which one to assign and the referee can easily miss changing the type of reference. 

**Recommendations to others considering Xref:**

Decide how important the reference process is to your organization, and how Xref would compliment your current process. I'd say it's nice to have, but some hiring managers still don't like that fact it's not done over the phone, even though it's easy enough to follow up. 

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows recruiters to spend more time recruiting than chasing references.

I can't think of anything I dislike about using Xref.

This is a game changer, you need to get on board.  The stats speak for themselves; much faster turnaround time (no playing telephone tag), the volume of feedback you receive from a referee is much greater and is more powerful when written in their own word.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reference checking process in our recruitment process.  The greatest benefits we have realised are time savings and quality improvement.
