**What do you like best about Xref?**

I really appreciate Xref's strong ability to catch fraudulent reference checks, something we were never able to spot in the past. It's a big part of why it's so valuable to us. I find the process a big time saver since it lets us put a reference check on the candidate and the reference, while we can start working on other things. Setting up Xref was very easy, and today, we're quite pleased with how smoothly everything works. Additionally, even without using the integration with Workday Recruiting much, it's quite easy to manually place reference checks through Xref's online platform.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

The integration between Xref and Workday Recruiting is not that great, and we don't utilize it very much.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Xref to complete reference checks efficiently, saving time and identifying fraudulent references, which helps us avoid bad hires and preserve resources.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

The most helpful thing about XRef is that it is candidate driven. It gives the power to the candidate to be responsible for their references and also aware of the process

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

The only downside to XRef would be that you can't get the tone of the reference as you would with phone call reference

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time it takes to obtain a reference. People are more likely to login even in the evenings when they have a moment to complete a reference rather than playing phone tag for days

It's important to remember that when references are conducted via telephone, the most overtly positive ones can sometimes be fraudulent. Xref tracks a far greater number of data points and surfaces unusual activity and benchmark insights, enabling you to make a more informed and data-driven hiring decision.

If you still feel the need to make a quick call to the referee, all their contact information is readily available on the report for you to do so.

I like the reminder emails that go to candidates and referees.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

When I click on the candidate the cancel button is on the right hand side. When I click on export and want to exit screen, the cancel button is now on the left hand side. It would be good to have consistency and have the cancel button on the same side of the screen irrespective of the page. 

I've shared this feedback already. Would be good to review the survey questions when selecting the survey. It's difficult to view them on a different page and then make the selection on a different page, especially when templates have similar titles. 

There's a bit of troubleshooting needed every now and then as referees see error messages when they click on the link to answer survey questions. would be nice to resolve this and make it seamless.

Less time taken to get reference checks done.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

The process of entering the information is very simple, and the system is extremely reliable.

Not having to manage the process when you can't get in touch with a referee - We all know how time consuming it can be to get hold of a busy person!

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

That the completed references don't get sorted in the order they are completed (they are ordered by when they were sent out) which makes it more difficult to find slow returning references.

One other improvement would be to have the ability to give the referee a reminder on those occasions when they forget to complete.

It would also be good if the 'customisable wording' to the applicant and the referees could be saved by survey.  For example we often use XRef for volunteers - and this requires different wording as the standard is obviously employee centric, and we have to go in and change both sections (note to candidate, and note to referee) every single time.  It would be great if the Volunteer Survey could be saved with that different wording.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduces the amount of time we spend conducting standard checks as we don't need to collect the referee details and don't need to chase up referees.
It also allows anyone in the team to see where a reference process is at and so we don't need to enter data into a shared sheet.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

I’ve had a really positive experience using Xref. The platform is very easy to use and streamlines our reference checking process significantly. What used to take days now takes just hours and the automated system ensures everything is compliant and trackable.
Candidates and referees have also responded well to it, often commenting on how simple and convenient it is to complete references. 
Overall, it’s been a great tool for our recruitment workflow, and I’d definitely recommend it to other talent teams looking to save time and improve consistency in their hiring process.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

One area that could use improvement is the scoring system. While the platform provides a numerical score based on referee responses, we’ve found that it can be misleading for hiring managers. The score often appears to be based more on word count or response length rather than the actual quality of the feedback. This can create confusion, especially when a candidate receives a high score despite vague comments.
We’ve had to remind our team to look beyond the score and read the full responses to get a true sense of the referee’s feedback. A more nuanced or sentiment-based scoring system would be much more helpful in guiding hiring decisions.

Xref has significantly improved our time management during the recruitment process. Reference checking used to be a manual, time-consuming task that often involved chasing referees and coordinating calls. With Xref, the process is automated, fast, and trackable, freeing up valuable time for our team to focus on more strategic parts of hiring.
It also helps ensure consistency and compliance, which gives us peace of mind and saves time on follow-ups or corrections. Overall, it’s made our workflow more efficient and reliable.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

It connects with the references for you. No worrying about managing your time, schedule and whatnot to meet their availability. No back and forth. Xref takes care of all that for you.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

I wish it could perhaps not send as many automated reminders out to the candidates and/or references, especially on the weekend, it feels slightly invasive and some find it tedious. I wish we could control the frequency of the reminders. Also, I wish we could perhaps have a minimum number of words for some responses. Yes or No answers from references is not very helpful, we need elaboration.

Automation is helping us manage or time better, work smarter, not harder. Take some of the busy-work off our hands.

Customer service team has been able to assist understanding life cycle if needed
Xref continually notifies candidates and references until completion. This assists as people may forget it one day but see the next days notificaion

In previous update it was able to how specific pages on the main page. Now indicators say 'In progress', 'completed', requested. Personally I found the symbols of the last version easier to understand at a glance.

Less 'phone chasey' with references means we can actually do our job recruiting candiates

We have found Xref to be very easy to implement and use, a huge time saver in our recruitment process. The platform streamlines reference checking, speeds up turnaround times and the overall experience more efficient for both our team and the referees, It has definitely helped us move candidates through the process faster and more confidence.  Highly recommend for anyone looking to simplify and modernise their recruitment.

Their customer support has also been excellent, responsive, helpful and quick to resolve queries.

Honestly, we can't think of anything to dislike, it has been a smooth and positive experience from start to finish.

The only think I can say, and its really not a problem is that you dont get the opportunity to actually talk to the person on the other end. But this is a part of the time saving attributes, so i would't want to change that

I appreciate being able to request all background checks at once. This feature makes the process much more efficient and saves time compared to handling each check separately.

In my opinion, we might have included a few more reference surveys than necessary, but that's an aspect we can adjust if needed.

Previously, we had to rely on multiple providers for various services, which was inconvenient. Now, our team can simply log into a single platform and request all the necessary checks in one place.

Working in a scaling international company where we are hiring multiple candidates per quarter, it has made my life so much easier as the People & Capability Manager to collect references. I don't need to worry about time zone differences or following up with candidates or referee's. Saves me hours of admin!

Some referees find the frequent reminders are disturbing. 
Sometimes candidates missed the last step to click "Submit" and their referees' details did not come through without them knowing.

Collecting referees' details in an efficient way. Referees are contacted instantly after their details are submitted. Referees are reminded to complete the reference via email. Any unusual activities are picked up easily.

**What do you like best about Xref?**

The ease of use - I can send a reference check request in less than a minute and the platform experience (especially since the upgrade to the new platform) allows me as a recruiter to customise as I go. We have partnered with Xref for 6 years and the customer support from the team has been fantastic and prompt. I am looking forward to the future integrations with other platforms i.e. CV Check.

In some instances it can be a little more valueable to complete a reference check over the phone, however considering the time saved, efficiency and positive feedback from referees the platform is an extremely valueable tool.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Xref is a great solution to save time as a recruiter when completing reference checks for candidates in the recruitment process. The platform allows the referees to complete the form at a time that suits them (even outside of work hours) and we generally recieve robust and considered responses. The 'opt in' for future opportunities for the referees is a great way to pipeline and identify future talent for the business.

It is easy to submit and send the reference details. Being able to save templates means that I spend less time drafting emails and formatting. It is efficient. It is also clear to read referee details. I use it for most references and it allows referees to contact us easy too.

Sometimes the AI description being at the top of references is confusing. It also sometimes formats in different ways, e.g., there can be a blank page at times.

It is making it easier to send references and to make sure people answer all mandatory questions when describing relationship with candidate. Streamlines ref check process. Support staff are very fast responders and kind.

It is super simple to use and is integrated into our CRM which means you can send off for references and know the candidate will fill out and get reminders and then it saves the references back into the CRM.

It has some back office functionality issues if you dont follow the traditional 2 references per candidate model.

Not having to conduct our own verbal reference checks, wasting time waiting for refereees to call back. The fact that background checks are included, integrating with our ATS, flagging suspicious activity and their customer service. Easy to use on a daily basis.

I don't like how the surveys are presented. The word count is a little strange and hard to explain to hiring managers what a good reference check looks like. Another piece of feedback received was that responding to the questionnaires can take a long time. Just something to be consious of when building the questions.

Ralph has been able to integrate with our applicant tracking system smart Recruiter making it a more streamlined process for recruiters to initiate checks and ensure that we are compliant.

What I like most about Xref is that I don’t have to chase down references anymore—referees can complete them at their own convenience, which saves me a lot of time and hassle. I also appreciate the security feature that tracks IP addresses, so I can feel confident about the authenticity of the responses.

**What do you dislike about Xref?**

One thing I dislike about Xref is that I sometimes lose the personal touch that comes with directly speaking to a referee. While it’s convenient, the automated process can feel a bit impersonal. Additionally, if a referee is slow to respond, there’s not much I can do to speed things up, which can sometimes delay the process.

**What problems is Xref solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Xref is solving the time-consuming problem of chasing down references and manually coordinating schedules. With referees able to complete their references at any time, I save a lot of time that would otherwise be spent following up. The platform also adds a layer of security by tracking IP addresses, giving me confidence in the accuracy and authenticity of the references. The platform is easy to use, and the integration is straightforward. I love that there are extra features like Pulse surveys and Exit interviews. Jackie our account manager and Jonathan have both been great at providing updates and timely personable support. The best support compare to other products we have.

The only thing we wish was possible is customising metrics and questions for pulse surveys along with exporting results and reports but apart from that it's a great.

Simple and really made our process of running checks so seamless! Saves my team hours of work a week by implementing Xref. Use this for every single person we hire and was extremely easy to implement and teach out.

When it maximized contact attempts, it just says expires. A user has to contact the candidate to use a prior sent link to complete. WIsh there was an option to send a link on demand.

I've used a lot of online systems but Xref is probably the most user friendly system I've come across. It easy to navigate around and makes my job so much more efficient.

The only thing that I would say is a negative, is that to resend an existing survey to a candidate, you have to reach out to your customer contact. I negative isn't too bad really!

Taking out the complication of asking candidates for their referees ourselves and how time consuming it is. Xref puts the control in the both the candidates and their referees hands.
