It's fairly easy to create a custom theme and control the visual aspect using CSS. the modularity of the system allowing you to scale it as needed, without impacting performance visibly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about XOOPS CMS? In all fairness, there are other CMSes that raised above the bar and remained on the market as leaders. Support, updates are lacking and when I started working with Xoops, WordPress was acting as a plugin for it. Currently, WP is a leader in the CMS field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering XOOPS CMS: It's suitable for small to medium size projects, but I'm certain there are other tools that would fit the bill much better. I managed to create a community way before Facebook was a thing. I delivered turnkey websites that withstood the test of time and brought value to my clients. It is a product with a lot of experience as it has been on the market for quite some time. Its installation is quite simple, since being completely web-based, only a web server (such as Apache) and the MySQL database engine are needed, all of which are free and open-source. It is completely based on modules, so if the necessary module is not available, it can always be sought among third-party products or even created by ourselves if we have the necessary knowledge. Although it has a theme-based interface system, the visual aspect has become a bit outdated and requires a lot of design work to give it a modern look.
