I have been using Xmind for at least 4 years to create concept maps and I like it a lot. The stickers are my favorite part, and I love how dynamic and customizable the schemes I can make are. I love the fact that you can view the map both as a list and as a whole image, and I appreciate how many things you can add, like links. I find it extremely useful to simplify concepts through stickers, especially considering that I have a visual memory. I have used plenty of mind mapping apps since the early 2000s. Xmind's AI integration makes getting started 100x easier than organically having to build the map. For example, I needed a map to track job hunting steps (including preparation for interviews). Xmind's AI built a solid plan that only required minor tweaking before it was perfect. This saved me hours of work (and considered many things that I did not). The company also provides plenty of videos to get you started.

The UX is pretty good--not perfect, but way better than average. A traditional toolbar would have given it a perfect score, but of course, you sacrifice visibility to gain this function. That said, for the price, and performance? The value is quite clear and positive. Either way, I am quite pleased and have added Xmind to my "vital" personal and professional tech stack. I find the process of linking with the online version of Xmind not as smooth as I'd like. It's frustrating that I have to upload files separately for the online version and the desktop version doesn't automatically sync to the cloud. Sometimes I find the process of copying thoughts over into Xmind using OPML markup a little clunky. I'm not sure that that's Xmind's issue entirely, but it might be the fact that you need to move stuff from one place to another. I like the ability to customize Xmind in the best possible ways, and that it is easy to use. I find it very easy to configure, very intuitive, and the initial tutorial explains very well how to use it. I find Xmind useful for organizational hierarchy, system design, and system architecture. Plotting is very good, especially for contractors who don't have direct team access. I can directly customize the color scheme and structure/hierarchy of the graphs, which makes them easily readable and ensures they fit the design of whatever project we are working on.
