Depending on the length of the code, RTL synthesis and bitstream generation take a long time and slows down other applications, especially when you're computer is relatively old. Basically, it is a platform for front-end coding in VLASIC. The best part is that the structure of the code and syntax are easy to understand, making programming easy. As a student, while the test bench is not necessarily written in code, it gets generated automatically, making it easy to test and verify the circuit. Verilog is easier than VHDL.
