Great service for managing wordpress sites, and if anything goes wrong with the service they offer, or your site in general then they are available with live chat to assist. Often but not always they simply can fix the problem for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about WPMU DEV? Not much to dislike, but I do have two complaints... One is that the monthly price of hosting is very very high for low traffic or non-business sites. The other gripe is that they really offer no support or assistance for wordpress multisites (to be clear their management services and plugins do support multisite, they will just not assist you with migrating to a multisite), and it kinda seems like their products are engineered to make it difficult to save money on hosting by moving from individual sites hosted with them to a multisite. I have several personal (and a couple business) low traffic sites which I would really like to host with them without having to pay the full price of their managed VPS for each one. To save money on hosting these sites I need to set up my own VPS and manage it myself, else I have to pay $18/mo for each very low traffic site. Overall, I wouldn't let either of these issues stop you from using WPMU dev. If the hosting is too expensive for your low traffic or personal site then you can still host elsewhere and use their management service, and their products do work on mulitisite, it has just always proven impossible for me to successfully move my existing sites to a multisite using their backup system, and I never wanted to build them again from scratch. Though I would prefer to host all my sites with WPMU, it's just very expensive and they seem to make migrating out deliberately buggy and non functional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is WPMU DEV solving and how is that benefiting you? Lots of time saved when managing my own, and client sites. Great tools for security, speed optimization, client billing etc. Their managed hosting also is excellent and a great time saver (I already mentioned the small issue with it in terms of cost for low traffic sites.) We did have (and still do as of Apr 2022) individual plans for our products such as Smush. Smush is actually priced at just $6/mo per site \* (Actually, it's for 2 websites, 1 which would be your main site, plus an additional one should you use staging for example!). On top of that, Smush can also be combined with our Hummingbird plugin, which is the best pair when it comes to optimizing websites. The price for that package (Performance Package as we call it) is at $7.5/mo. Last but not least, I would also like to point out that you can use Smush as often as you need. For example, you could subscribe just for 1 month, optimize all of your images and cancel. You could even have 1 million images, the price wouldn't change either, plus, at that $6 price, we would take all the heavy lifting of optimizing your images on our own servers, so your website doesn't take that load. After the expiration of your account, the optimized images would remain intact, and you could always subscribe back at any time further down the line and repeat that process should you have more images to be processed. There's no question--Smush was my gateway drug into WPMU. It's a heck of a plugin and works really well on client sites when the client knows little about how to optimize images but continues to upload them, regardless. Regarding "All 11 Pro Plugins" that you mentioned, we actually do offer "combined packs" in order to cover that gap. For example, (and since you love Smush!), we offer the Performance Package which includes both Smush and Hummingbird plugins, which are considered the best pair when it comes to optimizing a website. Similarly, if you would be interested into our SmartCrawl plugin (for SEO), we also offer the SEO & Marketing Pack which includes SmartCrawl, Forminator, Hustle, Beehive and Branda. And the price difference compared to just 1 plugin VS 5? $2.5 (as of Apr 2022). I do understand that if you would be able to just add "plugins" in the cart and checkout (ultimately, creating your own "packs" the way you prefer) would offer more flexibility. However, if you also compare the prices from our current Packs, and even our Full Memberships, you will see that we're actually offering lower prices compared to what it would cost by adding all of those individually. I have been a WPMUDEV member for a few months now. I run 30+ WP client sites and 3 fairly large MultiSites. I joined primarily for the plugins - but overall have been unhappy with many of them. if you manage multiple sites and want to automate stuff WPMUDEV is a good choice. When you get into using them you find they are lacking in features or have serious bugs (mostly when integrating two or more of their plugins - that say they are totally compatible and integrated) they go unfixed for months. The same can be said for feature updates. A lot of the feature requests are for basic features that most other similar plugins already offer - and again - no updates for months. The main attraction of WPMU is a large collection of free and premium WordPress plugins and a suite of tools that include site management, backups, CDN, image optimization, and quite a bit more plus user forums and a support team available 24/7. The newer forms plugin, Forminator, is quite fun and unique. It's available for free, however, and doesn't require a membership. It's nice to have all these tools and resources in one place but... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about WPMU DEV? I paid for membership for a year, maybe a little more, and It is nice to have all these tools and resources in one place. WPMU is constantly adding services, tools and plugins. HOWEVER, literally everything offered here, other than the 24/7 general WordPress support I have to admit, is available from other sources or vendors for free or for much less. More importantly, I didn't find a tool here that was best in class. Hummingbird, for instance, does get good reviews for its speed optimizations but I've had several problems with both the free and premium versions because it doesn't work well with other plugins. I always have to manual empty the cache or the my site will be scrambled. I eventually standardized on Breeze with the same benefits. Similarly, Smush Pro image optimization looks like the best tool for the job but I get more http errors when uploading images than with other services. One thing that WPMU won't tell you is that the open source software behind the image optimization is similar to or identical to the software from other vendors, most of which are free. Being a member requires the installation of a hub plugin which is often hard to disable, I've found. Also, many of the plugins in their repo have not been updated in a while, other than maintenance releases, such as the membership plugin. After a year of paying quite a bit of money I decided that the main triumph of WPMU Dev was in branding and marketing and design, and the service did not present compelling reason to pay $49 a month.
