## WP Engine Reviews
  ### 1. Hands Down, The Best WordPress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas M. | Senior Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

From their top notch support to their rock steady servers, we've never had any issues - we continue to love and grow with the platform as a company thanks to their scalability, pricing, and future optimizations (such as Atlas).

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

For a single site, the pricing can seem high, but for an agency - it's a great value. On real room for improvement is tied to version control and GitHub integration, but this appears to be getting better in the future with their headless and Atlas builds.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalable and high performance websites for ourselves and our clients.

  ### 2. Solid hosting environment from Wordpress experts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike I. | Chief Information Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPE shows a commitment to improvement of their platform on a regular basis. Whether through improvments to their portal or the introduction of tools like the Atlas headless CMS, they don't rest on their laurels.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Their support desk used to use an industry standard tool which was replaced with their own application. I preferred the legacy tool due to familiarity and user experience.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of updating the wordpress core as well as php make staying up to date a low risk proposition. Restore points and the ability to download a snapshot make it easy to roll back if necessary.

  ### 3. #1 Choice for Website Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy A. | Co-founder + Creative Strategist, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Their platform is specifically designed for WordPress sites. The servers, security — all of it is specific to this platform, which makes for a fast and extremely secure network.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

We honestly don't have any complaints about WP Engine.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine's easy-to-use dashboard makes it easy to pull backups before making WordPress updates. The inclusions of an SSL certificate with the site provide great value and savings to our clients. Their customer support is timely and extremely helpful.

  ### 4. Reliable, fast, and helpful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy O. | Sr. Web Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love that whenever I have a question, no matter how small (or big), I can chat with WP Engine support and get help instantly. I never feel like a noob, or that they judge me for not knowing something. They're proactive, helpful, and good to work with.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There is nothing I don't like about these guys. They're super friendly and helpful, so I have nothing to complain about.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My website is fast, and I'm confident that it's secure with WP Engine. It's fantastic not to have to think about it.

  ### 5. Simply the Best for WordPress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPEngine has the most awesome support staff - they always resolve the question or issue and it does not matter what time of day, I get the same great support. WPEngine has all the tools you need - staging and development sites, access to your database with phpMyAdmin (how can hosting companies not offer that -- but they do!) The process to migrate a site is dead simple.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Some people complain about the costs but not me! The price you pay for hosting is more than made up by savings for developers needed to resolve hosting issues -- because you do not have any hosting issues! No unexplained 503 errors, no hosting company jumping in behind your back and blocking users. Even when you exceed your storage allotment, they work with you instead of shutting your site off. ALL of these issues, I have with other hosting companies.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WP Engine has a lot of staff -- many times more staff than some of the other companies doing WordPress hosting. Whether my site needs are a single site or I am working with 25+ sites, WP Engine is flawless for running fast and secure WordPress sites. They offer tons of support but do not prevent you from running your sites the way your business requires.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multiple environments mean I can test and develop without impacting my sites in production. I moved several sites from a VPS hosting situation where high-dollar developers where needed to address VPS issues -- often issues not in our control. Nothing like that with WP Engine. They have automated processes to use a CDN for image delivery -- critical for the businesses I support.

  ### 6. Nicely organizes all of our sites into one succinct place.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Able to see everything in one dashboard. Works so I can simply log in and update everything at once rather than keeping hundreds of usernames and passwords on sticky notes around my office.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The initial setup of everything wasn't as easy as I would've liked, but still very intuitive all things considered.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping all of my sites organized, up to date, compliant, and top of mind. Without this program I would surely forget about some backburner sites we tend to.

  ### 7. A hosting platform to increase your business performance within a highly secured environment.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Farhan A. | Senior Mean Stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

We have managed to get increased revenue with an enhanced audience across all our social channels. I can not resist but say that this product has been the best choice that we have made since we started our business. It has given us all control over our security management by allowing us to constantly monitor our security preferences to eliminate any potential risks. We benefit mostly by using a variety of WP plug-ins.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Its prices could be unaffordable for some small businesses. It sometimes is not so efficient with notifications to all of our team members and sometimes we get delayed emails. But I do not consider these minor issues as a setback for this amazing platform.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe that I have chosen the best marketing companion for me and my marketing team. It has allowed us a robust environment of speedy hosting with perfect hosting tools pane which is always getting more and more improved. We are at flexibility to manage and scale our hosting capabilities to comply with the growth in our web traffic. Our system never goes low on system resources because of its built-in caching feature.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I did not have problems with the service yet, a few things could be more clear for the user but if you have some experience it works fine

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting many wordpress website in a reliable and fast server

  ### 9. WP Engine was a life saver for my company.

**Reviewed by:** Lou A. | Owner, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine support is excellent. They take on small and big tasks and fix the problem while I'm on a support call or chat. They are super responsive and affordable.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Nothing, their support is complete, and their interface is very intuitive.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have nearly 100 websites, and my previous host company was slow and expensive. The backup, SSL certificates and professional guidance make it possible for a small agency like mine to do big things!

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

The ease of use for backups and restores!

The panel can be a little overwhelming if you are not in there daily.

We have several servers and host hundreds of our client sites on their platform - we have been using them for over 5+ years now and have been overall pleased.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The support is second-to-none and available around the clock.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There isn't a lot that I don't like. There are some restrictions that are enforced as to plugins that may be installed on a shared server, but it is for security/performance reasons.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's very, very easy to deploy between environments, meaning that we can make sure everything is in perfect working order before going live.

  ### 14. Easy to Manage WordPress backup tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly Michael S. | Digital Transformation Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love the integration WP Engine has with Wordpress. Every time I go to make a plugin or theme update it reminds/asks me if I want to backup first. This helps me make time-critical updates.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Not often, but I have occasionally had to wait in a short queue waiting for a support member to handle my inquiry. When they have assisted me, they were always great and resolved my questions.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine allows to schedule automatic backups and take manual ones whenever necessary.

  ### 15. Best web hosting services for our CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giancarlo V. | Administration, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The hoster offers us very many options and features to customize the webspace. It is very optimized for our CMS and also offers automatic installation. Updates can be saved and done automatically.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The SSL certificate has given us problems before - we then reset all DNS settings with support and now everything works.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The webhoster offers us the possibility to present our homepage well. We have done a speed check and with this new hoster we reach 70 points for mobile use and almost 100 points for desktop view. It doesn't get much better than that. The prices are also very good.

  ### 16. Excellent Tech Support and Server Specs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

It is excellent to work with a tech team that actually understands my client's technical needs and is able to assist quickly.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Recently they seem to be understaffed in their online chat.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company hosts 100+ of our client's website. We have never had a problem with security or site speed.

  ### 17. Best WordPress Hosting for Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh L. | Developer Advocate | Instana, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine pairs world-class support with great technical features and an easy to use dashboard.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There are some quirks to the automated deploy and backup systems that take getting used to if you are coming from standard PHP hosting

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer worry about my sites' security or performance or uptime.

  ### 18. 1 month here, now running away

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I originally liked the idea of shared hosting designed for wordpress, and was comparing WPEngine with MediaTemple vs self-hosting for a simple WP website with not that much traffic. Decided to go with WPengine considering all the praise. Now regretting it.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The offering is horrible. I started having issues on day 1 (just while signing up) with their authentication provider (auth0), and I couldn't sign up. When I finally was able to sign up, we started building our website from scratch (no migration). After about a month, whilst we are ready to move to production, the "Copy Environment" doesn't work, meaning we can't go from prod to staging or staging to prod.

* THE DOWNTIME

Today (Aug 26th 2020), we've been having 502 gateway error problems. When I called their customer support, their response is (verbatim) “it looks like the server restarted itself a while ago, and the load is a little too high right now”, “you have a noisy neighbor and they are taking care of this right now”.

It looks like I bought a $2 shared host from lowendtalk.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to get away from self-hosting

  ### 19. WP Engine - What you need for high traffic WordPress site hosting.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Amazing support. Really truly the best there is. Hooks up to New Relic for performance metrics. One dashboard for many sites. Easy production site / test site / dev site management.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Nada. These guys rock. A lot. UI is groovy.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Just go for it. It is the best. Better than any other site management solution out there.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Site hosting, management, PHP updates all in one place.

  ### 20. Excellent Customer Service. Fantastic Host

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Ease of signup. The backend is very easy to use, even if you're not tech-savvy. The server uptime is amazing.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Sales folks can be a bit pushy at first, but they are very helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

I would highly recommend WPEngine. We have been very happy with their customer service, hosting, and backend software. Migrating the site was easy and the setup was a breeze.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We switched hosts to WPEngine as our old web host was having up-time issues and was unable or unwilling to resolve the issue. WPEngine also offers more hands-on service tailored to WordPress which was important to us.

  ### 21. Best WordPress hosting providers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karthick S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

On time support to resolve live site issues

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

We don't have fully control for the servers

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All WP technical problem solved with WP-ENGINE team and it's a fastest solution for WP sites.

  ### 22. Low-quality support and pushy salespeople for "dedicated"

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Fast front-end site deliver-ability out of the box.
CDN setup and security done for you.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

A few months of less 99.9% uptime. Downtime occured during peak hours with ads running.
Ongoing support doesn't monitor mysql uptime or website for errors and plead ignorance in multiple cases.
Slow backend wordpress pages. Painfully long times to update website pages.
Had to use Cloudflare to get the site to have redundancy.
Pushy salespeople to move you to "dedicated server" which isn't actually dedicated, just the core virtualization.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast CDN website hosting. No maintenance required. Security upgrades, updates and plugin security holes taken care of.

  ### 23. Robust solution for managing WordPress sites.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. L. | Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Customer service is phenomenal. Functionality is broad but can be confusing at times. The customer service team is responsive and makes things very clear.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Sometimes functionality is confusing/complicated. If you know what you're doing, this allows you tons of control over your site.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving website management issues with WP Engine, particularly rebuilding and hosing issues.

  ### 24. Most Flexible and Easiest to Manage Wordpress Hosting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve Y. | Technology Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The simplicity in setting up a new site. I was able to quickly add a new virtual server for Wordpress and then in no time it was installed asking me to add an admin user.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Lack of understanding of the underlying environment underneath the Wordpress install.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Try it out. For not a lot of money you can determine how well it and they perform.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have small technology companies and need to quickly add new site, change themes and have good performance.

  ### 25. A premium web hosting solution that makes our websites load quickly and securely

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaiah J. | Marketing Strategist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine keeps their web hosting service simple and allows our WordPress websites to load quickly since the hosting environment is designed for WordPress. The account tools are easy to use and mostly self-explanatory in nature. We can update our core WordPress files and plugins through the WP Engine system. The pricing is good for all of the features and enhanced hosting performance that we get. The customer support is also very helpful and pleasant to communicate with.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I can't complain about a whole lot with WP Engine, but I think it would be great if there were more built-in visitor analytics in our standard account features. I think that some of the analytics regarding site performance aren't really that useful for us from a marketing and user analytics standpoint.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Most basic hosting plans can usually host WordPress websites, but I'd suggest using a web host that is geared specifically for WordPress like WP Engine to give your website visitors the best, or at least a highly optimized, experience when viewing your website content.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine gives our company an optimized web hosting environment for our websites that reduces the amount of time commitments we need for account management and maintenance. Our web pages load quickly most of the time, which I think maximizes the website visitor experience and leads to conversions in sales or increases in form sign ups or service inquiries.

  ### 26. WP Engine the tool that works hand in hand with WordPress

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesús T. | Product Marketing, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I am very pleased that the technical support is 24 hours a day attentive to the requests presented by users, and at the same time to guide you while you handle the tool, it is an extremely important factor that not all tools have. This tool will provide you with backup and backup copies of your clients' websites so as not to lose any relevant information for the organization.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It would be ideal for the tool to send notifications to the email of the users to know the release of the main updates of the tool, so that the user immediately devotes himself to update and to know his new options and versions.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WP Engine is a recommended tool for all organizations, whether large or small, since the price becomes quite accessible and competitive for small businesses depending on the staff they work on. WP Engine allows people to focus on content creation and not site maintenance. It gives you reliable and secure security through automatic daily backups. Your backup system will not fail, truly recommended.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use WP Engine in the organization to work together with WordPress.org, these two tools are responsible for working on the management of our websites and blogs for our customers. We use WP Engine to host and support all our websites, it provides reliability and security to safeguard all the information that is handled regarding the websites. It is responsible for managing the backup copies of our clients' sites. The ability of WP Engine to create and organize sites easily and transfer data makes it an ideal and powerful tool for our organization, its use in the organization is vital.

  ### 27. WP Engine is a simple solution to get our WordPress website running efficiently

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aiden P. | Web Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I think the ease-of-use is one of the best things about WP Engine. We can get our WordPress websites imported rather quickly and also create new websites from scratch with the WP Engine installation and management tools. Making updates to our WordPress core files is more streamlined in the WP Engine system compared to updating the software through package downloads. I like that we can get regular updates of activity regarding the use and security of our account.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The only thing that is not as good as standard hosting plans is the fact that the pricing for WP Engine is much higher than many of the basic level plans. For some WordPress installations that don't require lots of plugins or complex programming, I think that the page load differences aren't going to be that much improved in WP Engine.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WP Engine can save you lots of time and effort from the maintenance involved with WordPress website installations. You don't have to mess around much with technical programming or any other complicated tasks and maintenance. You may be able to see dramatic improvements in page load speeds compared to standard web hosting, so that's a big reason I would recommend using them.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine makes it easy for us to install and maintain our WordPress websites. We run lots of important websites for business through WP Engine and need to make sure that they are up and running and are performing as quick to load for visitors as possible. The uptime for WP Engine has been excellent and we often get great page loading speeds. We can also get extended metrics that allow us to analyze the effectiveness of our web page designs.

  ### 28. Sticks to the essential items we need for our WordPress websites

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco G. | Digital Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

When I tried loading websites at other hosting accounts, they tended to not load WordPress pages as efficiently. WP Engine is great since the structure is designed especially for WordPress installations. We can also get insightful data on visitor activity and the performance of our pages. We often have to install plug-ins to fulfill the design specifications that we have for our websites and WP Engine gives us a platform to be able to download and activate plugins more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Though WP Engine has been super for WordPress installations, it isn't really as much of an open-ended environment for more advanced design and development needs. It is somewhat rigid in terms of the way we can add on features to our hosting account.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Many popular web hosting companies nowadays have a WordPress specific hosting package and you may want to check those out if you already have a hosting plan with them. However, I think WP Engine is one of the more efficient companies to go with because they're dedicated more strictly to WordPress.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine has been a great way for us to get faster page loading speeds and be able to update our WordPress extensions and security features more effortlessly. When we don't use a WordPress hosting package like WP Engine, we often have to deal with more malware and coding bugs. WP Engine has reduced the amount of malware attacks we've had on the whole. We can make basic design updates more efficiently and make updates to the content in less time.

  ### 29. Best web hosting for Wordpress Website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love how easy and simple WP Engine is to use. They have so many useful tools that they offer like automatic backups and instant recovery from a backup that just makes this a must use web hosting client for people using wordpress sites. They also have a really solution for creating and testing changes on a staging site so you dont have to push major updates to your main site which could cause problems. They're servers and settings are optimized for Wordpress so you wont have any issues with that. They're online support is very helpful and fast.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The service is going to be a little pricier than your generic web hosting plans like godaddy but you'll have way less headaches than dealing with other hosts like that.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the staging site has been great for testing major site updates. I love the auto updates of the WordPress version for our sites and how it checks to make sure that the updates won't adversely affect your site.

  ### 30. Awesome Support and Website Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Russell Carr E. | President & Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

We used to use Hostgater, which was a nightmare due to very poor support and at one point they even shut down our site due to some technical issue.

Moved to WP Engine and it's been an awesome experience,

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Only one bad experience when a new support person answered on a weekend. Even that wasn't very bad!

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

By far the most outstanding, knowledgeable and available technical support I've ever rec'd from a marketing platform.

If you're a very small business like us, with very limited technical knowledge of Wordpress and webhosting, etc. you can't go wrong with WP Engine.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website performance, reliability, and super strong technical support.

  ### 31. Solid hosting for WordPress with support that can be helpful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel C. | Web Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I like the ease of use of WP Engine. I don't need to worry about upgrades, patches, security issues, performance, DR, and time-consuming administrative things like that. It is all taken care for more by WP Engine. I can focus on delivering sites that perform for my customers.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

User account management can be a little quirky as you have accounts inside of your WordPress instances and a second set of accounts in WP Engine. Also, installing and updating custom SSL certificates is not automated on their site and requires opening a support ticket.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

I think that you should't hesitate to go with WP Engine if you are looking for a quality hosting solution. WordPress is a terribly complex piece of software. Generic hosting providers like GoDaddy just do the install and then leave the rest to you. WP Engine sticks with you throughout the lifecycle of your site. Also, self-hosting WordPress is a nightmare unless you have dedicated staff for it.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have enjoyed the fact that WP Engine is very easy to use and the dashboard is very user friendly. We can do everything from the dashboard such as setup SSL, create SFTP users, CDN, cache, domain mapping, setup staging, etc. It has very good chat support, they are always available for our help. The WP Engine team can take care of our websites. They email us every day regarding the vulnerabilities of plugins. They can take care of WordPress updates.

  ### 32. Best WordPress Hosting of All times

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Calvince N. | Service technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The user-friendly interface and the faster loading times are one of the best things I like about WP Engine. Through the WP Engine servers, my WordPress website runs quickly and smoothly. The support team is very knowledgeable, and I always get instant feedback whenever I have technical issues. One can easily contact them through their live chat. WP Engine allows me to see live traffic on my website and account data and updates are done automatically.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Their prices are on the higher side. They also have a limitation on the number of websites I can connect to my account. Similar hosting companies offer an unlimited number of websites under one account at the same pricing.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

I would highly recommend WP Engine if you want to host and manage WordPress websites in one place. It is ideal for WordPress, and your website will have faster-loading pages. There are different hosting plans to choose according to your budget.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a solution that could provide backups, automated updates, and secure hosting services, and I found WP Engine. WP Engine does most of the maintenance work for my website and has freed up a lot of time, which I use to concentrate on other parts of my business. The marketing department has scaled up with hosting services from WP Engine.

  ### 33. Not reliable anymore: outages because of other customers, no solution and no monitoring

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leon H. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I used to like their premium customer support and service. The interface and use of is very simple.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Recently we experienced a few outages with WP Engine and the way they have been handling it, is unprofessional and doesn't actually solve the problem. I can't recommend WP Engine as a reliable hosting service.

My own (external) monitoring alerted me that all of our sites hosted with WP Engine were offline. This happened a few times in the past for a few minutes, but this one was longer.
When I contacted their support, the response time was quite slow and once I got to chat with a customer rep. he was telling me it has something to do with PHP7. Only later he corrected himself and admitted there is some problem with the server my sites are on. WP Engine is a shared hosting service and even though we're paying >$100, our sites are together with other users one the same server/cloud instance.

Our websites ended up being offline for 7 hours during main business hours. I had to contact them, as it seems they weren't even aware of the problem in the beginning. I was promised we would be moved to a "quieter" server and this shouldn't happen again.

A week later, our sites were experiencing outages again. Again, I only found out because of my own monitoring. Again, their support thought it has something to do with PHP7 in the beginning and only then found out that we were AGAIN experiencing outages because of another customer's site. Our sites were on and offline during evening hours on a very important day for one of the websites for four hours.

We were yet promised to be moved to a quieter service, but I was told this can happen again. I can't comprehend how they don't monitor for this themselves. Referencing to their SLA I was only offered some credits.

I'm now looking to switch to a professional WP hosting service that is reliable.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Use more reliable hosters

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managed Wordpress hosting. Not having to worry about hosting.

  ### 34. A simple and secure WordPress management solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sophia L. | User Experience Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine has a tight system in place to strengthen the performance and security of our WordPress websites. We don't have to pay frequent attention to configurations or monitor activity from external threats. The user interface of WP Engine is neatly organized and allows us to change settings quickly without complicated procedures. The pricing is quite reasonable and competitive with similar WP management solutions I know about.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Using WP Engine doesn't quite give me the flexibility that I had when working with a standard hosting platform. Though I like the metrics that can be viewed in our dashboard, there aren't as many advanced metrics included. I would like to be able to add more extensions to give us more data and integration options.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

With all of the security issues out there now that could effect website performance and user privacy, it's very important to have an website management solution that can give you efficiency and protection that exceeds basic requirements. I'd recommend WP Engine as a platform that can deliver that at a reasonable cost.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't need to constantly monitor activity on our WordPress websites. WP Engine runs our websites in a stable environment that's less prone to malware and negative performance issues. Our web pages usually load as fast as industry standard page loading speeds. We can maintain our WP website settings, databases and other elements in a concise and secure environment that allows us to focus more on content creation.

  ### 35. Account Managers, hosting speed, support - everything is top notch

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam P. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The Account Managers are great. I worked with my account manager Oscar Saldivar, who went out of his way to make sure he took ownership of my problems, executed with urgency and raised the bar as far as account managers go.

The hosting is fast. REALLY fast. I came over from host gator and I was pleasantly surprised how fast it was. NEVER GOING BACK.

Support is great. 24/7. You can easily get online and get help with anything you need.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I wish I could call in for support. Sometimes it is easier to explain what isn't working on the phone versus typing it out.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast hosting. My client's websites were not a tiny site by any means and WP Engine handles them no problem.

  ### 36. WP Engine is best in class WordPress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is a fantastic managed hosting platform for WordPress. We have used them to scale our business with the headaches of upgrading hardware and software because they take care of it for you. Wp Engine continues to innovate with Staging, Development and Production sites rolled into every site you have on your account with them.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

This is hard to say. W Engine has really come through with excellent features and incredible support. Honestly there is nothing to dislike!

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

We recommend WP Engine to everyone and have used it forever. If you need CPanel or server controls they might not be right for you. It is managed hosting so they take care of this which is a relief for our company. You won't be disappointed with less work!

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to scale sites quickly without worry about hardware or server issues. This truly is a platform you can grow with. WP Engine allows us to free up website maintenance time with their simple daily backups, custom control panel and great support.

  ### 37. A fast and intuitive platform for WordPress websites

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zach B. | Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Our WordPress installs run extremely quick and smooth on WP Engine servers. The user interface is easy to use and we can get set up in less than an hour. The pricing is quite reasonable and not much more than we'd expect to pay on standard web hosting servers that aren't optimized for WordPress. We get great data on visitor activity in our account.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is such a straightforward and simple service that doesn't often require frequent maintenance, so it's hard to point out anything I really dislike. It might be complicated for people that aren't familiar with WordPress though.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

You should strongly consider WP Engine for your WordPress website(s). It might be hard for some to tell the difference in performance, but the difference is definitely there and it's actually often substantial.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to run our WordPress websites very quickly in a server that's optimized for this particular CMS. We have more stable pages and few issues with malware. We can host pages for a variety of marketing applications and know that they will load reliably.

  ### 38. WP Engine has changed the way we do the web for our business and clients

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared M. | Sr. Director of Engineering & Architecture, Logistics and Supply Chain, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is a great product for managing website consolidation, quick M&A turnaround and new properties that you need stood up quick. It also makes it seamless for internal and 3rd party development with good staging and production flows to roll things up and down as needed.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Most of the items I have had suggestions for improvement for over the past couple of years have been implemented on the administrative and support side, so no complaints here!

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Depending on how many properties you are going to manage investigate going dedicated vs. shared as there are benefits to both sides with the biggest consequence mainly being you will share resources with other shared tenants (and at times it could be not speedy). We elected to go dedicated and have never had a single problem with in 2.5+ years. Also, when pricing your enterprise tier do your homework on how many sites you need now and how many you will need so you do not overestimate your initial first year of your dedicated instance.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduced # of CMS to support, providing single pane of glass for managing and administering platform, delivering marketing faster time to market on website instance stand-up. Benefits are type 1 ROI on license savings from moving from other platforms and reduction in cycle time of time to market of delivering an available website for editing. Other benefits are providing great ease of use in WordPress and freeing up internal IT resources from day-to-day management of wordpress.org properties.

  ### 39. Solid tools and performance for more complex WordPress installs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karl M. | Account Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The fast loading times are probably one of the best things about WP Engine. Being able to manage a hosting account that is specifically suited for WordPress is very convenient and reduces much of the clutter of less relevant features in other web hosting services. The WP Engine support team is very knowledgeable about common installation, coding and malware issues. I like that we can see live traffic and account data in our user portal. It's also very convenient that we can set up access to content delivery networks.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The pricing is a bit on the high end. I don't like that there is a limit to how many websites we can include in our account. Other web hosting plans with similar pricing often offer hosting of an unlimited number of websites. Due to the limited number of websites allowed and save money, we also use other hosting packages for less complex WordPress websites.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

If you have multiple WordPress installs, WP Engine is a great way to keep track of and manage them all in one place. The hosting structure is ideal for WordPress and you should be able to have faster loading pages compared to standard web hosting websites. If the pricing is too high, you can select a lower tier plan to host only your most important websites.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The WP Engine platform has been a smooth and easy way for us to host and manage many of our critical WordPress websites. We not only use them for marketing and allowing easy access to online forms, we also use them for client websites and other digital asset needs. WP Engine gives us a good amount of web security and allows us to WordPress pages more efficiently, which creates a better experience for the end user.

  ### 40. Powerful service for your wordpress website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cezar A. | CEO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I have been found many websites suffering malware, this is the tip: if you can't fix the problem but only clean your website.. I'd suggest you to move to WP Engine, they can handle this issue forever.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

They should offer better rates, the cheapest one is about $35

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security issues as malware, you know when you start adding plugins and themes... they can leave the back door open...

  ### 41. By far the greatest hosting by anybody I have ever used, especially for Wordpress!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love everything about this service; everything from their lighting fast support, to the tools they offer for users of their service. First the support, if you ever have an issue, which I rarely do ( and most of the time I have a question about something I need to do) they are there within seconds to help you and or answer any question you might have. Second the tools, if you have ever worked with WordPress, you know how important it is to make backups of your websites. WP Engine has tools in place that will automatically backup your website multiple times. You can also initiate a backup. You can deploy your website into staging with the click of a button to test before you deploy. You get free SSL certs for every website, for FREE. It is the best money I have spent.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I have been using their service for the past year and a half and I have yet to find something I dislike about their service.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

The money you will spend with WP Engine will be money well spent, everything from the automated backups, free SSL, and lighting fast reliable support, you can rest assure that your site is run at it best with no issues.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved the frequent and sluggish performance we were experiencing with other hosting providers. WP Engine offers superior hosting for WordPress and it is lighting fast and secure..

  ### 42. Lousy support

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I thought that WP Engines would be an ideal hosting company. But this is yet to be determined.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I was chatting with a support person from WP Engines to get some help to reset my PW to a staging site. Being a newbie to WP Engine, I was not successful at resetting this. When I asked the WP Engines support guy to walk me through it, he said he would not and said to read the instructions he sent, which I already did. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. How hard would it be to simply stay on line (via zen desk chat) with me while I tried to do it? They would not. So I'm totally stuck here.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Good customer support appears to be woefully lacking.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

nothing yet

  ### 43. Ideal Server Setup for WordPress Websites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ★ STACI J. | Production Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

We use WP Engine as our WordPress server. We know that there is requirements for each website that is setup and it helps to keep the WordPress websites running as fast as possible.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

At this time, there is honestly nothing to say as an item to be disliked. All in all, WP Engine has a certain way that they are running the server for the WordPress websites that we run on the system and we've found that it helps to keep all the sites we host on the server to run that must faster.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Hands down, if a client is running their WordPress website on something other than WP Engine, you might want to do a comparison and really determine if that is the best choice for you.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously we had websites running on another server that ran into DDOS attacks at the time. When this was happening, we looked for a new server to get our sites moved over too so they could be up and running. We like how WP Engine is powering their servers as it helps us to report to our clients with just about each month with 100% up time. Keeps our clients happy and us.

  ### 44. Best professional hosting for Wordpress

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Collin B. | Lead Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2017

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine support and backend is the best I've ever had to use. They're UX is and Cpanel are clear and modern. The 24 hour chat support and phone support is staffed by technical people and i haven't had an issue yet. Deploying sites and creating staging environment is super fast.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

very little is wrong with WPengine. Sometimes it can be a bother to not have the customization of adding on extra thinks (like a client portal built outside of WP) but thats extremely small and rare.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Wp engine is fantastic if all your needs are met within the wordpress ecosystem. otherwise it can be challenging to find work arounds.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WpEngine has a no worry solution for automatic backups and free SSL is great for $30/month. They scale to our needs as well so we never have to worry about being throttled if we get a lot of press. and at $1 for every 1000 visitors over your quote, hits one of the cheapest solutions

  ### 45. The Best Managed WordPress Hosting Ever!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivelina D. | WordPress Web Designer ♦ Graphic Designer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is the best choice for hosting your WordPress website! They offer so many great tools for your website - from migrating, to automated backups, free SSL certificate, levels of security...support is 24/7, the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful, going above & beyond!

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I like everything about this company! I have used them for about 3 1/2 years now, and it just keeps getting better!

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

If you have a WordPress website, don't even consider hosting it anywhere else but WP Engine. It is all well worth it! A few clients have had their websites compromised in the past, while using other hosting companies - it was a nightmare to deal with those issues. Ever since those clients switched to WP Engine, we can all relax and have a peace of mind because of the level of security and excellent support WP Engine provides!

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website backups, website security, managed WordPress, easy WordPress website migration, easy user portal navigation, chat available 24/7 for any issues, easy SSL certificate setup, excellent support

  ### 46. WP Engine is one of the best hostings for a Managed Wordpress Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine makes managing hosting for a wordpress website super easily. They provide a top notch hosting environment for hosting wordpress. Installation is one click and they offer an easy to use staging area, which most hosting of this price range does not. Moving from a staging to live area is as easy as a few clicks using their web interface. Rollbacks are equally easy to accomplished, and a feature I have had to use a few times when updates did not go as planned.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Being a managed Wordpress hosting environment there are some limitations. They turn off revisions history by default, which for some people can be more then problematic. Some plugins also dont work well in their environment and they expressly tell you which ones wont and that they will be deactivated if installed. Really minor details.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WP Engine might cost more then your basic shared hosting plan but is a much better product. For a bit more a month you get real auto backups and a staging server. You can also produce on the fly backups with a click, something lower end hosts dont have.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine helps me solve the issue of limiting hours required for routine tasks. WP Engines auto backs and rollbacks allow to not have to spend time making tedious backups and setting up staging servers, which has greatly freed up time. I am able to focus on development and rollout of sites instead of maintenance taks.

  ### 47. Really helps to maximize your WordPress website's performance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is great because they are dedicated to hosting specifically for WordPress websites. With the abundance of issues that could arise from your WP install, from connectivity problems to server compatibility, WP Engine takes away much of the stress from fine tuning your WordPress install so that you can focus more on your content and business. They have a detailed dashboard that keeps you updated on your latest visits and other performance data.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The pricing is generally much higher than standard hosting plans. For larger websites, the costs can get very high if you have increasingly more website visitors. Some of the information involved with setting up and maintaining your website through WP Engine can be confusing for some beginners or those not acquainted with the basics of WordPress websites.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

I suggest you analyze your website's performance on your existing host as much as possible to see if the move to WP Engine would give you much value. Though it is generally a great service and should allow your WordPress site to perform better, the upgrade might not be noticeable for simple websites.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine lets our team worry less about the technical details of our WordPress websites. They have updated server software, like PHP, and highly informed support team that can guide you through performance issues to maximize loading times. We can use our WP Engine websites to create landing pages that display information about services, events, news and promotions.

  ### 48. An awesome platform for efficient WordPress website performance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I think the best about WP Engine is that optimizes the performance of our WordPress websites. Using WP Engine has been surprisingly easy. In my opinion, WordPress is typically complex for the average person to implement, so I expected a WordPress hosting platform to be complicated to use. However, the user portal's interface was straightforward and provides us with many tools to help us optimize performance and shows us data about visitors, storage and bandwidth usage.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Though I find WP Engine to be a solid performer compared to other hosting companies, I think the pricing is rather high compared to the average hosting company package. For very basic WordPress installs, there probably won't be a noticeable difference in performance. Also, though the customer service is generally helpful overall, they are often limited in the amount of help they can give you about particular website issues.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

If you have a WordPress website that has a large amount of auxiliary code attached or uses a complex database, WP Engine can likely improve the overall performance of your web pages and facilitate a more pleasant user experience for your visitors. It can also allow you to focus more on your business, rather than keeping up with technical maintenance issues.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine has given us a ton of piece of mind when it comes to our websites and landing pages. WordPress is constantly changing environment with hackers on the prowl to exploit and holes in the system, so having WP Engine's security features in place has been great for uptime and keeping our WordPress assets accessible to our visitors. Also, WP Engine allows us to not have to focus on changing WP standards or server requirements. We can focus more on the content of our websites.

  ### 49. Poor customer service, Expensive: exceedingly poor value.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** doug l. | owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2018

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The platform is easy to use. The salespeople trying to sell me their product were very polite, if not very knowledgable.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Support staff are arrogant, generally not knowledgeable, and have a tendency to rely on excuses and scapegoating.

Customer and/or tech support was never live. Instead, relying upon a ticket system and an antiquated back and forth email communication structure....is this 1996?

WP provide the kind of customer service that I've come to expect from shared hosting platforms that cost 10% what WP charges. Thus, the service is EXPENSIVE, and the value is poor.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Its expensive. The value is poor.

If you're really small, and price is no object, then fine.

If you want a good value, good customer service, and a no-excuses attitude about tech support, DON'T CHOOSE WP ENGINE.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Once upon a time, WP had a product that was unique. Now everybody offers the same product; most cheaper, most better. Better in terms of the value and the customer support, both of which are poor with WP.

WP technology is no longer novel, with alternatives currently available that exceed the offerings of WP Engine, with the added advantage of LIVE customer support.

With WP, tech support is no more than a few email exchanges and a day or two away. Did that sound acceptable? Then maybe WP is for you. For those who like to fix their problems immediately, without excuses or scapegoating, DON'T choose WP.

Their service is comparatively expensive...meaning their value is poor. Their service agents are arrogant, and negative feedback will cause them to non-stop email you in an attempt to compensate for the poor service their company offers.

Lastly the "speed" they offer you is a pipedream. My site had a D rating for speed, despite having paid extra for their apparently useless CDN software. I was advised to add a plugin. Couldn't I have done that on a shared server? Did I really need to pay a premium price for 18 months for you to tell me the speed I was paying for was ultimately determined by a 3rd party plugin?!

As I started to see the poor value that I was getting from WP, I asked them to outline what exactly I was getting from WP. What I discovered is that they do not manage anything at all. In fact, they don't even do DNS. (You'll have to get your DNS from a third-party.) They’ll keep your WordPress software updated, and keep a daily backup of your site. But that is it. For what they charge, I'd assume they would offer services that are beyond what the free plugins would accomplish. Guess I was mistaken.

When directly confronted with WHAT they had actually done for me, they balked. I requested, in writing, a rundown of the services they offered. He copied the text from their webpage into an email. Clearly, he had no respect for me…or apparently customers of WP in general.

Lastly, the same web development professional that introduced me to WP acknowledged that the company has gone downhill significantly as it pertained to customer service in the time I'd been with them. (Going on two years). That same web development professional recommended I get the same product for less money at any number of outlets.

So let's see, WP is comparatively expensive and a notably poor value. WP’s customer service is somewhere between poor and none. WP doesn't live up to hype or expectations that they themselves promoted. And everything they offer is available from their competitors for equal or less money. In short, there’s no longer anything special about WP…except its poor value.

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

There is a CDN built right in for faster performance. The features the come with the hosting are fantastic and very useful. The chat support is always easy to reach and super helpful. This platform is fast and secure, which are critical when choosing a web host.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It would be nice to add more storage to your account without going to the next level. Adding SSL support can cause issues when at some point after installing it. Otherwise, not much to dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Pretty much any company can use the security, quickness and reliability that WP Engine gives you. The the monthly cost should be reasonably within most budgets for small business. It works for us!

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team doesn't need to make extra effort to back up or keep our WP Engine software updated. Needed stable, fast and secure hosting. We have closed our accounts with all other hosting providers.
