WP Engine is one of my preferred hosts I use. I recommend it to clients and work on client accounts as a delegate user. Support is great, and the features make sense.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The user interface feels slightly unintuitive to me, but that's probably because I'm bouncing between hosts often throughout the day.

Good, high quality hosting for my clients

 ### 5. Fast, Reliable Hosting and Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

The WP Engine support team has been great to work with the few times we've needed them, answering tickets almost immediately.

We've had some intermittent issues with the CDN feature, but WP Engine has always been proactive about communicating with us and offering solutions.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 7. Great service with great features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raymond M. | Web developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The customer support team is fantastic, and the launch system for moving copies of websites from dev to live is a timesaver. Their website managment dashboard is also very easy to navagate and has all of the tools I generally need to manage a hosting account. Daily backups of both the products and staging and dev environments are also nice, as is the abilty to one-click restore to a back up or download just the database or certain folders like the plugins from an old backup is also great. I also like that they manage the server side caching for us so that we don't have to rely on a wordpress plugin to get that feature.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

You can't manually edit the nginx directives which can be an inconveience when needing to reach out to support to get minor things adjusted, though the good part is that their team works with you quickly to get any required directives into place. You don't have the option of using the old standard htaccess file when running the latest version of php though you do have the option to downgrade if you absolutely need an htaccess file.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WPEngine is a fantastic service and should be able to host just about any WordPress site. I recommend cleaning up your site, getting it running on their service, and removing unneeded tools like caching and backup plugins. You may also want to clean up your database to remove old post revisions and unapproved comments.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting management for nearly 800 websites across 7 wpengine servers dedicated to our business. We've seen better performance and less downtime since moving to wpengine and we find that their service makes on-boarding or launching new websites very easy while these tasks could be a pain in the past.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajeev B. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is more of a technology company that is developing solutions centered around WordPress CMS. They have proprietary tools for migration, backups. agency billing. Armed with pro Studio Press themes that you get with your hosting for free, your WordPress site looks great that is powered by the Genesis framework. Recently, Atlas is their endeavor to make WordPress sites headless. You get almost 100 percent uptime with a 24x7 chat support. Features like one-click login to WordPress admin dashboard from WPEngine make your WordPress experience the best.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Pricing is on the higher side with the starter plan @25$ per month. While this is still cheap for a service that is designed for a mission critical site, most small bloggers, businesses will find it infeasible.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting our WordPress sites on WP Engine. Managing a site on WP Engine is smooth with pro StudioPress themes, 24x7 chat support and more.

 ### 13. Decent, hands off, and a tad slow.... But very reliable overall

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua M. | I, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

They are a white glove sort of company with very good customer service, rather easy to get working, and just enough options while not too many things to get lost.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The performance is a tad slow for woocommerce and they were never able to get it faster.
They offer plans by the number of visits and without the ability to increase resources.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy managed Wordpress housing with a hands off experience and quick/responsive service.
They feature automatic backups and plugin updates with security alerts.

 ### 14. Takes the SysAdmin work out of wordpress

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine makes it so that I have a hosting partner for wordpress.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I wish there were a dedicated account manager like there is when you have a Shopify store.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine allows us to work with WP sites without needing to pay additional resources for hosting/monitoring/sys-admin, etc...

 ### 15. Excellent hosting, excellent service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa S. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPEngine truly does provide world-class hosting. CWS has used its dedicated custom hosting service for years.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

We've been a customer for a long time and WPE service levels have changed over that time (up and down and up and down). Thankfully we had a copy of our service agreement.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before WPEngine, we had a couple of brute force attacks take down our dedicated server (at another host) twice in two weeks. WPEngine helped us onboard and immediately our brute force attack issues ended. WPE's customer support has been super-helpful as well.

 ### 16. The Absolute BEST

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny H. | UX Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love how they have daily backups and it's so easy to revert back to a prior date when the website breaks down or there's a bug. On top of that, I have access to their awesome staff. They're super helpful with any issues I run into.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I haven't ran into anything issues with WP Engine at the moment. Everything has been super easy and streamlined, so I guess I don't have anything I dislike about WP Engine.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

It can be pricey, but saves you a lot of headache in the future when you run into issues. It's an investment on your time!

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving a lot of technical issues that come up when updating our websites. Also it saves our team so much time to have easy access to all the back ups rather than manually downloading them and transferring files via FTP.

 ### 17. A Good Choice but not for me

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Support & Environment Options (Staging, Development, Prodiuction)

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

WP Engine appears to have some internal caching that doesn't always clear easily and causing a delay in being able to see updates to the site's live.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Management of some customer websites, with an easy dashboard, that makes it easy to switch between clients and their websites.

 ### 18. WP Engine has been a lifesaver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magen H. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Their support team is always available to help with all of our questions. They are extremely knowledgeable and are always helpful.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There is nothing I dislike about WP Engine.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

The support team. They know their stuff and can assist me and my team when we need their help.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a web design company and their premium hosting is great. For what we have received in assistance with them, it is well worth the cost that we pay.

 ### 19. Best hosting platform for performance of WordPress website

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Malang P. | WordPress Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

If we are not starting from scratch with WP Engine, we have an option to migrate our website completely from another hosting provider to WP Engine. And this migration process is very easy and automatic. We can get here many security features such as when there is a plugin which can harm the site it notifies us.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is very costly as we can get cheaper hosting providers in the market of the same or less cost with exact specifications. So, I think they should have to work on their pricing structure.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier, we have used WP Engine for hosting our WordPress website. But then we switched as it was way too costly than other platforms. Apart from cost, it has the best performance for hosting of any WordPress website.

 ### 20. Poor technical knowledge of staff - site went down for a long time due to their error

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Not much at all unfortunately - they charge like a wounded bull for what?

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Terrible customer service. Broken promises to refund me the $100 credit after I left for Kinsta. "Divya" specifically promised it over the phone and then denied she promised it.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Avoid at all costs. Claim to be premium service but that is far from the truth.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not much at all really. I guess thats why I'm writing this review.

 ### 21. Rock Solid Hosting with Attention to Security and Performance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Director of Digital Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPEngine routinely updates its infrastructure to make sure that your site is running on the best-fit version of PHP and WordPress. They encourage and auto-update installations to keep you from lagging on security, and if you have a plugin with a known security issue, they notify you. I feel like my sites are safer on WPEngine. I have also never had a problem getting their support people on chat, and they work hard to resolve whatever issues arise.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

You pay for what you get. WPEngine isn't the cheapest solution out there. Recently they've also been adjusting their models and offering new services which don't quite fit my use case as well as the older models. They've been good about respecting existing customers and keeping us where we're happy, but at some point, I'll probably have to reevaluate our package with them.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've solved our website hosting and been able to grow and develop our presence. Like I said above, I feel more secure on this platform, and I still have lots of room to grow and develop our web presence in whatever directions we need to.

 ### 22. WPEngine review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

They offer extremely easy to manage WordPress installations. You don't have to worry about server setup, upgrades, etc. They also make it very easy to roll back to a previous version of the site if you make a catastrophic mistake.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Difficult to integrate into a modern development workflow.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WPE allows us to work nimbly with a lean team. It also allows our creators to rapidly publish content which increases productivity.

 ### 23. AMAZING!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I love how my team and I are able to access ALL of our websites' backups, FTP credentials, etc., all in WP Engine. It's been a HUGE lifesaver when updating our websites, and all of a sudden, we see a critical error. The support team is absolutely amazing and has been incredibly helpful.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I don't know exactly how much our account costs, but I do know it's very pricey. That's the only thing that pops up at the top of my head. There isn't really anything I dislike about WPEngine - they're amazing!

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

It's super worth it if you work for a company with many websites that needs managing.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alleviating the issues of having servers and manually backing up our websites. We've also alleviated the issues of having a developer because someone like me with minimal knowledge about development, WP Engine has helped guide me through the right steps in troubleshooting our sites.

 ### 24. Solid Hosting Option for WordPress

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam B. | Sr. Public and Government Relations Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine offers a reliable hosting platform with excellent customer service. It's easy to connect with support by chat and their staff is both friendly and helpful. The website management dashboard is easily navigable and it's fairly easy to find everything you need to manage your various websites. We have 11 sites currently set up on WP Engine and we've been very satisfied with its performance.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Not much. We're very satisfied with the product and service so far. You will pay more than you would for some of their competitors, but the value they provide is worth it to us.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have 11 websites set up on WP Engine and it has been a great resource. It helps us keep our WordPress sites up-to-date and provides a secure, reliable backup for all of our websites.

 ### 25. Costly but good WordPress hosting provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shishir K. | Deputy Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is a good solution for building Websites, It is very fast, and users can quickly build a website on this. The best part is we can add free plugins, which adds an additional feature to the web page. We can also easily migrate WordPress websites to WP engine, which saves lot of effort. It also gives a dashboard which tells how my website is performing. The Analytics report also helps so that we can make necessary changes to the page

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The things which i didn't like is it is costly compared to the services it is offering, person can easily choose Godaddy which offers similar features for lower cost. It also doesnt allow some plugins from the worpress and other websites which is a let down. Its UI also needs some improvement as the search is poor. If we remove cost factor then I would say its the best.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allow the page to be hosted in much better and faster way. It is also scalable so i dont have to worry about addiional traffic coming to my page. It also uses caching thus page loads much faster.

 ### 26. WP Engine is a great partner in Word Press site hosting and management.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter R. | Director of Development, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

At the time I used it, the very best feature for us was the on-demand backup option. We were creating a lot of pretty extensive technology changes and content changes and the ability to easily backup and restore the project was very helpful if there was ever a bug introduced. The upgrades options and dev server generation tools were also very helpful.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There really wasn't much that I disliked. As a service, the cost has been prohibitive for any of my smaller personal projects, but that is more about my budget than an excessive pricing model. I think the support and stability you get from it is worth the price, and for businesses, it is more than worth it for the peace of mind.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem being solved was stability throughout development and content creation. We transitioned to a ReactJS based UI utilizing WP API's from a fully integrated PHP software. That was a very extensive project, so the scheduled and unscheduled backups were ideal for maintaining performance for our users even throughout development. It definitely checked all the boxes for hosting and content restoration. During that time we encountered a few large scale outages from Amazon as well as some issues with common JS dependencies that brought down our site. The ability to restore quickly and mitigate those disasters was essential.

 ### 27. WPEngine does not seem to care

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Customizability in features and offerings.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

- All views expressed in this review is my own and not represented of the company --

Well, where to start. We've taken over a WPEngine plan that was in the responsibility of our DevOps team and in our initial contract, we were overcharged in our plan based on our actual consumption by 300% and had a poorly-designed hosting architecture, which WPEngine failed to tell us about due to it being "competitive." We've been having issues that cause outages on our production sites, and this is due to WPEngine's implementation of different WordPress tools and functions such as updates - something essential for moving to a WP MSP. To top it all off, our account manager doesn't know how to help us and is recommending that we go to advanced support plan (more money) to fix architectural issues of there implementation of Wordpress hosting for us - not ideal. It just doesn't seem like the account manager cares that they might potentially lose our business and it really is a bad experience all around.

I came from a WordPress hosting company and SaaS agency so this review might be biased, but boy oh boy this is horrible.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting, that's about it. Managed services are poorly architected.

 ### 28. Thorough and user-friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pete D. | Digital Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine is always sending out tips and tricks as well as super helpful reminders. They make it easy to take advantage of new features with ste-by-step instructions. Backing up my site and/or changing settings is also super easy.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Can't really think of anything. The pricing is even great. Anytime I've had to contact customer service, I receive pleasant and quick help. Definitely recommend!

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website hosting that is secure, user-friendly and a good price

 ### 29. Best Wordpress Hosting company - in the world.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark B. | Full Stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Support: Best in class. They are quick to respond, they do not use call centers and are extremely knowledgeable and proficient. They do not upcharge to fix most issues and are very helpful in every aspect.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The only caveat is the price. They are not by any means the cheapest hosting, but the service and reliability of uptime make it a non-issue the majority of the time.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not having any issues with them whatsoever. The main benefits are speed, reliability, support structure, and the fact that they are US based all insure for great service.

 ### 30. Reliable up time and excellent customer service

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I simply no longer need to worry about my sites getting hacked, becoming outdated or going down.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It's a bit pricey for startups. There's a big cost jump between lower levels and the mid-tier.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They saved my website from an awful hack that took my business down for some weeks. I haven't had any more problems since switching to WP Engine.

 ### 31. Good, I think

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura L. | Social Marketing Specialist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

It backs up my website daily and automatically in case I make any mistakes.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I think it has more capabilities than I understand how to utilize.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website hosting and extra backup security.

 ### 32. Been With WPengine for years and love their service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erik E. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPengine works so nicely with WordPress websites. We never experience any outages and the runtime seems to be above 99% which is generally what hosting providers offer.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

I don't believe they offer email services. Although it's not a huge dislike, it certainly would be nice to be able to offer some of our clients email support through WPengine.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We host a bunch of websites on our WPengine account. This is a huge benefit because we are able to host hundreds of websites under the same package that WPengine offers.

 ### 33. Best Customer Support for WP Hosting Solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Crystal S. | Digital Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I know my sites are secure, and I have a great team working on the support side if I ever have any issues. My servers are always up, and rarely do I ever need to contact for support.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The cost of a dedicated server is slightly on the high end, but other than that can not complain.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dedicated servers with security with great load times. I manage and maintain all our sites myself with ease.

 ### 34. Exception Customer Service!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kasey C. | Digital Marketing Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Easy to use platform for someone who may be new to Wordpress hosting and wonderful customer service!

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Nothing so far! I can see how some of the menu options can be confusing to a newbie, but an experienced developer would find this platform easy to use

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our clients are able to self host their website now so they don't have to rely on a web developer

 ### 35. A true partner

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Levi M. | President/Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine provides exceptional customer service and also works as a guide to help you enhance and grow your website presence.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There really isn't anything I dislike about WP Engine.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

If you need a quality website for your business, WP Engine is the one to go with.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our site was growing almost exponentially in terms of content and visitors at one point. We actually out grew our previous hosting service.

 ### 36. The Best WordPress Hosting Ever Used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin D. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

A superior quality hosting company with excellent support gets you an all-around great hosting service.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

For being a hosting company with a lot of technical details, there are some options that require a more thorough understanding in order to be effective.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast and secure hosting are the two best things I've experienced compared to other hosts.

 ### 37. Hands down preferred hosting for WordPress

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer H. | Co-founder & COO, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Their chat support is always available and ready to help whenever you need it. Many of their techs go above and beyond, helping to troubleshoot and identify issues. Overall, the hosting service is great — stable, secure and reliable.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Some recent changes to chat support require extra steps to get connected with a human, which is a little annoying. As a pro user, I've typically already done initial research & sleuthing, so by the time I open chat support, I'm ready for a person. Not a deal-breaker, but a noticeable difference from their previous chat structure.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WPE is a great option for WordPress hosting -- whether you're a power user or a relatively new user. Their more recent plans offer competitive pricing, and they are consistently looking for ways to improve their users' experience. They truly listen to user feedback, reach out for clarification, and have teams working to incorporate & address changes.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I provide hosting solutions for my clients, both through my own Enterprise account and by referring my clients directly to WPE. As such, it's important that my recommendation be met with quality, reliable service. WPE helps to make site maintenance & management turn-key, so I can best serve my clients.

 ### 38. The best thing is...

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh C. | Front end web developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The chat icon in the lower right in the admin. The people that respond to that chat are not just some random person that doesn't know anything. They help you fix the problem and help you understand the problem. They have saved me so many times with my dumb questions and problems, and they pretend like your problem isn't dumb! :)

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The only thing that I dislike is that the platform doesn't integrate well with working with a team on GitHub. We've worked our way around it by having a separate GitHub for version control, and then use the Local App tool for deploying, but that process still leaves room for human error. I'm not saying it's impossible. You can integrate it a bit, but it works better if there's only one person working on it.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Use the Local App tool they provide.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Frequent and super easy backups. Pulling and pushing locally is stupid easy. Working locally is also stupidly easy to do. The hosting is solid and there is HELP for the stuff I'm not very good at, like setting up domains and such.

 ### 39. Solid Wordpress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh N. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP Engine support staff is simply the best. I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes to chat with a support agent, and 9/10 times they are able to resolve my issue or question. In the rare case where they need to escalate my ticket, I receive a response within an hour or two. Depending on how complex the issue is, we can usually resolve within several hours.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

The ability to use multiple environments (production, staging, development) is great. But depending on your storage plan, it can be very easy to exceed storage limitations. They make it easy to delete these environments to reduce storage usage, but you cannot reuse an environment name when you need to create a new staging or development copy. It's not a big deal, but it can be a little annoying, depending on your workflow.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

WP Engine is expensive, yes. But if you are willing to spend the extra money, it is well worth every penny for the level of support and confidence their hosting provides.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The abilities to backup a site on demand, spin up a new environment, and copy between environments are very convenient. So much in fact that I find myself frustrated when using other web hosts that are missing these features.
It's also very comforting to know that WP Engine has our site security in mind at all times. We are constantly receiving alerts when a 3rd party plugin has a vulnerability that needs addressed. This way we can act quickly and resolve the problem before it affects a client site.

 ### 40. The absolute best customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin J. | P, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The hosting platform is great and easy to use but the thing that sets WP Engine apart in my mind is the customer service. It is pretty much unmatched in any industry... but especially in the hosting arena. Usually calling a host is the worst part of my day, but calling WP Engine is always a breeze and they are always so friendly and helpful. We try to get all of our clients to let us host them because we know it will be a better experience than any other host out there.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It's a little pricey. It works well for dev companies but I think most people who are hosting on their own would go elsewhere because they want something less. They don't know how great the service is... but still a bit pricey if you aren't hosting multiple sites.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The backups are wonderful. It's great to know that we have really solid backups at our fingertips if needed. The assistance with issues when we are setting a site live is also VERY valuable to me. And the WP Migration tool takes 95% of the stress out of setting a site live. The only remaining 5% is all on the domain. and when we are lucky enough to be working with a domain that connects with WP Engine, then the go-live process is 100% stress-free.

 ### 41. One CMS for all!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Connie D. | Web Development Product Owner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Regardless of experience, WP is a great platform! We manage over 15 web properties on WP Engine and the reliability of the site as well as the ease and speed of deployment is unlike other platforms.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Compared to other platforms I have used, there isn't much that I do not like that doesn't exist across web development as a whole. Sometimes extensions and plugins can cause some headaches in integration or compatibility, but with a seasoned dev team, you can work around it or create build your own plugins. All in all, no complaints

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

No matter the need, the WP platform can serve all your needs.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From simple community blog sites to complex marketing sites for SaaS products, the flexibility and speed in development affords us the ability to pivot when the business changes direction. For our stakeholders, the ability to content author pages easily is a huge plus without needing web development knowledge.

 ### 42. WP Engine is the best WordPress host!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael H. | Software Developer / Business Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Free Migration plugin, very intuitive control panel. free SSL, Content Delivery Network, Caching options, easy Domain setup. Staging Sites. Daily backups, easy restoration process. Excellent customer service. FAST performing websites. Very skilled support team that can help you find out why you're having issues. Their advanced level support reps have solved issues for me many many times.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Some of my clients do not like the price of the hosting options but I believe the value you receive for the hosting price far exceeds the cost. People are cheap these days but you get what you pay for with WP Engine. There are other cheaper options like GoDaddy and BlueHost but these companies are very poor performing hosts and their customer service is very bad. You will spend forever getting in touch with someone to help you solve and issue and they usually don't know how to help you. WP Engine has extremely knowledgeable support staff and if they can't solve the proglem their ticketing system will get you hooked up with a support tech who can deep dive into your issue.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

You will not be disappointed with WP Engine. They are an excellent WordPress hosting company.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've launched many websites personally and professionally with WP Engine. From small local farmers listing their locations on a map, to nationwide hardware store ordering systems and real estate agent CMS integrations to selling medical supplies to dental offices and hospitals. The benefits are that a small team of developers can launch high-performing systems quickly and inexpensively. We have even raised over a million dollars for non profit organizations through multiple annual fund raising campaigns.

 ### 43. The best hosting specialized for WordPress websites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Petar C. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

Very simple managing the websites, everything is on one click such as free SSL, free CDN, backups, staging-production sync...

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It's very expensive for hosting a small number of websites. there is no cPanel

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In addition to hosting more than 200 sites on VP Engine, we managed to restore the deleted instance after few days and that saved the reputation of our company.

 ### 44. WP Engine Is the Best WordPress Web Host I've Used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas P. | Wellness Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I've used many different web hosting companies in the past, and once I experienced WP Engine, I moved ALL my clients over to them. Their platform is secure (they disallow certain plug-ins), their hosting is fast (needed to keep Google happy), and their tech support is the best I've ever experienced. I know my way around WordPress pretty well, but when I get stumped (which is rare), their support is right on it.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

They're pricier than everyone else, but you get what you pay for. I'm happy to pay the difference and refuse to use any other hosting company.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WP Engine has provided the solution to many issues I've had with other hosting companies in the past: web server speed, security and tech support that is available 24x7.

 ### 45. I use WP Engine on a daily basis. Great product!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garrett B. | Director, Operations and Brand Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP is easy to navigate, easy to use group think, and easy to build out pages.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Sometimes WP will jump down pages when i'm editing or saving which causes some frustration.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website building specifically. We host nearly all of our pages on WP. The benefits are WP is fairly easy to use, and complex pages can be made in about 10 minutes.

 ### 46. Simple as well as awesome hosting service

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2022

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

With it's one click install feature you can install famous CMS for your website in one click like WordPress, joomla, drupal.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Its provide late updates for plugins under CMS service.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides simple web hosting service plus firewall for your application. That is a great service for website security.

 ### 47. Easy Multi Site Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel B. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

The automatic updates for plugins with a visual check for errors

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

manual creation of Dev, Test, and PRD sites

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily manage multiple client sites and keep their WordPress up to date and secure.

 ### 48. Great Platform and Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob W. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WPEngine has an excellent portal for managing your Wordpress sites, including the ability to manage and migrate between sites and environments (such as dev, test, staging, etc.). Other hoster's portals are often clunky and complicated, but this is not the case with WPEngine. The support is also exceptional. I'm very technically adept, and usually by the time I have to contact support it is due to a more advanced and complicated issue. This can be frustrating with other support departments since the first and second-tier agents are often not very technical. WPEngine support is refreshingly different as their first-tier agents are very helpful and capable. They have always been able to understand the issue, communicate it efficiently and help me every time I've needed to contact them.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

There isn't much I dislike about WPEngine. I can honestly say they are easily one of the best hosting platforms I've used (and I've used a lot).

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used WPEngine to host our largest websites (~200MM/unique/year) and CMS systems for our flagship products.

 ### 49. Unstable web servers going down - taking our website offline.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

WP-Engine support responds quickly and I like that there are automatic backups nightly.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

Their web servers are unreliable. We use StatusCake to monitor uptime and our site goes down periodically. The worst-case was on April 21st when our website went offline and support was able to get it working again for a short time, but it went offline again. If your public website is an important aspect of your business, this may not be the hosting company for you.

**Recommendations to others considering WP Engine:**

Pay close attention to uptime. Shared servers are unreliable as we've experienced some serious issues with downtime. Support can't seem to fix these issues so we have no choice but to change hosting companies as soon as possible.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking for a reliable and cost-effective solution. At this point, we are seeing more problems than benefits.

 ### 50. Good hosting for smaller sites

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about WP Engine?**

I think it's very easy to use and simple to setup for most WordPress sites. It's also affordable and has good support.

**What do you dislike about WP Engine?**

It's not the best or most heavyweight hosting platform for larger sites, so sites with a lot of traffic may want to consider upgrading to a new host.

**What problems is WP Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The only real problem is bandwidth with larger sites. For a smaller site it's an excellent tool. If you're getting under 100,000 page views a month you shouldn't have any problems with WP Engine.
