WP Cloud is a WordPress-as-a-Service platform built and operated by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. It provides hosting companies, domain registrars, and agencies with enterprise-grade WordPress infrastructure through an API-first architecture, including real-time multi-region automated failover, integrated CDN and edge caching, DDoS protection, a web application firewall, managed WordPress core updates, and vertical auto-scaling up to 110 PHP workers. Partners integrate WP Cloud beneath their own brand via the Atomic API and set their own pricing, plans, and customer experience. WP Cloud powers over 500 million page views per day across partners including WordPress.com, Pressable, Bluehost Cloud, Porkbun, and Convesio. It eliminates the need for hosting companies to build and maintain WordPress infrastructure from scratch, reducing time-to-market from 12-24 months to weeks, with zero upfront costs. WP Cloud also includes embedded AI functionality: AI-powered spam protection (Akismet), real-time threat detection in the platform's security layer, and the WordPress AI Assistant, a built-in tool that lets site owners edit layouts, generate images, refine content, and manage their site using natural language directly inside the WordPress editor. In Review Signal's independently run 2026 WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks, WP Cloud-powered hosts (including Pressable, WordPress.com, and Bluehost on WP Cloud) earned Top Tier recognition in every pricing category they entered, from entry-level hosting through enterprise and WooCommerce.
