I think the mechanism isn´t completed yet, but "this is the way" to do it and the whole world must know it and learn it to implement it even in other areas but software development. The tech is right there, we just need to know how to use it and make it the right tool for all our processes. Therefore, in my opinion, Woven has shown how the hiring proccess must be done in order to be fair and let the people to show the best of themself when you replicate a real world environment, rather than make a bunch of question in an interview, where everybody can just read a hundred of books, websites, even talk with others and learn answers to those questions. What companies are looking for is "ingenium", the origin of "engineer" word, and that means "talent" and "natural abilities", and you don´t learn that on books while searching for a job, that something earned on years of experience and trutly hard work. In the same waym you can´t express that talent answering questions but fixing a problem, highlighting the point where system fails and explaining your arguments providing a solution. Most takehome exercises hide how long anyone took. * I had a couple questions for Woven that were answered promptly and with care -- thanks Woven! * The company I was interviewing for used Woven to test me in three areas, which I found to be absolutely genius: raw coding skills as well as note-taking and commenting approaches, PR reviewing (YUPPPP, the thing that makes or breaks the careers of any employee -- and everyone around them), and system design. The system design question was presented as a debugging thought exercise, and while that was true, it was a clear indicator of system design exposure. PR review writing is a critical component to mentorship, culture, psychological safety, etc. I really appreciated how seamlessly Woven supported me as an interviewee to connect to an instantiation of a test repo in Github (that was private to me) and then to return to other exercises in Woven. It also removed my access to the repo at the allotted time -- so cool! * Language-bias is a common problem when interviewing a candidate in a language that may not be their first. Woven allowed me to select my preferred language, thus allowing me to more accurately compete with fellow interviewees. * Handling tests during the interview process is a common issue. Woven made having starter tests super easy for me as an interviewer. It seemed to also allow the interviewing company to have other hidden-to-me tests, which I'm assuming provided reliably consistent scoring of interviewee code and further reduced human bias.
