WorkingScript is free screenwriting software that runs in the browser. Type INT. and it is a scene heading; Tab for a character; the page is Courier with the industry margins and breaks where a screenplay’s page breaks. The script is a plain Fountain file on your own device: no account, no cloud, nothing stored about you. It opens and saves Final Draft .fdx, imports PDF scripts, and installs as an app that works offline on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook. Index cards and a story canvas, a cast with character profiles, a table read with a voice per character, live co-writing over an encrypted link and tracked changes are all included. WorkingScript Pro, £50 + VAT once, adds the production layer: locked pages, revision colours, actor sides, watermarked PDFs, natural voices and the full version history. Schools and colleges can buy one key for every machine by the year.
