"Effortless Navigation and Comprehensive Document Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I like how Workday Adaptive Planning is very easy to work with. You don't need training to navigate through it, and it's easy to find where things are. Doing and undoing tasks is straightforward, making navigation simple. I find it perfect as I don't waste more than fifteen minutes a week, just going in and doing everything I need without any complications. This ease of use is its greatest part. It also helps our company register hours, add extra hours, sign documents, and verify things like quarterly bonuses. Notifications point you right to where you need to look, which makes finding necessary information a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I think it could have different languages in there. I'm Mexican, and I use it, well, in English, which I don't mind. My company is in The US. But I think it could be easier to sell if you have more, like, languages in there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Financial Planning with Powerful Reporting"
4/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I mainly use Workday Adaptive Planning for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. It helps me keep budgets up to date, compare actual results against forecasts, and generate reports for management. Having everything in one place makes it much easier to collaborate with the team and reduces the time spent managing multiple spreadsheets. Overall, it has made our planning and reporting process more organized and efficient. The biggest issue it solves is reducing the amount of manual work involved in budgeting and forecasting. Workday Adaptive Planning centralizes everything, making collaboration easier, reducing errors, and allowing us to generate reports much faster. It also gives better visibility into financial performance, so decisions can be made with more confidence. I like how easy it is to keep budgets and forecasts up to date without relying on multiple spreadsheets. The platform makes it simple to collaborate with different teams, and the reporting features provide a clear view of financial performance. It saves a lot of time on routine planning tasks and makes the overall budgeting process much more organized. Keeping budgets and forecasts updated is much easier because changes can be made in one place and are immediately reflected across the planning process. This helps us respond more quickly when business priorities or financial assumptions change. The reporting features are also valuable because they make it easy to compare budgeted and actual results, identify variances, and share clear insights with management. Together, these features save time, reduce manual effort, and make planning decisions more reliable. We use Workday Adaptive Planning alongside our ERP system and Microsoft Excel. Workday Adaptive Planning brings everything together for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, making the overall process much more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

One area that could be improved is the user experience for new users. Some of the advanced planning and reporting features take time to learn, so more built-in guidance would be helpful. I've also noticed that larger planning models can sometimes take longer to load or refresh. Improving performance in those situations and making advanced features easier to navigate would make the platform even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Design, Efficient Forecasting, Limited Flexibility"
4/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I use Workday Adaptive Planning mainly for budgeting and forecasting, and it helps me get a good sense of cost impacts when adjusting cost drivers. The biggest benefit is its speed in forecasting, as it handles formulas and functions automatically, saving me a lot of time. I appreciate how intuitive it is to use, and it simplifies scenario analysis, which was tricky in Excel. Another nice feature is the ease with which I can create dashboards to present KPIs to stakeholders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I find that one drawback is the loss of flexibility compared to other software like Excel. You can only really work in the fixed environment that Workday Adaptive Planning provides. On top of that, there's a performance limit as all the calculations take place in the cloud. The good thing about Excel is that the calculation limit becomes the limit of what your personal computer can handle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Weekly Planning, Challenged by Initial Complexity"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I find Workday Adaptive Planning really helpful in organizing and collecting my thoughts and notes, ensuring everything I'm planning for the week forms a cohesive action plan. What stands out most for me is its ability to organize tasks in an ideal manner that's sustainable for workers. I appreciate the dashboard, recording, and KPI tracking, along with the AI and predictive planning features. They align my tasks with my goals, making it very helpful for me to see what I need to complete. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I think there's a learning curve with Workday Adaptive Planning. New users may take some time to become comfortable with the interface and the models, especially if they're used to something like Excel. Also, I do think the reporting has a lot of flexibility, but that can be overwhelming for someone not familiar with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid planning tool, but API and performance need work"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

The most valuable aspect for me has been the flexibility it offers when building custom financial models. As someone who works closely with finance and data teams, I've found the OfficeConnect integration particularly useful — it lets our finance folks pull live plan data directly into Excel without waiting on engineering every time. The version control on models is also something I didn't expect to appreciate as much as I do, but being able to roll back a broken formula logic in a shared plan has saved us more than once. The API access is decent enough to push actuals from our data warehouse into Adaptive without too much friction, which matters when you're trying to keep plans in sync with real-time operational data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

The API documentation is, honestly, my biggest frustration. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great either—there are clear gaps where you end up having to rely on trial and error, and that gets old quickly. The REST API also feels a bit dated compared to what I’d expect from a modern SaaS product in 2024.

Another issue is performance: load times on larger models can become noticeably slow, especially when multiple users are running calculations at the same time. For a tool that’s meant to support real-time collaborative planning, that kind of lag feels like a contradiction. The learning curve for new team members is steeper than it should be as well; onboarding a new analyst to build even a mid-complexity model takes a couple of weeks at minimum.

I’d really appreciate better sandbox or testing environments so we can validate integration changes without touching production data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Greater control over data and more accurate forecasts"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

The aspect I appreciate most about Workday Adaptive Planning is the ability to centralize the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting process on a single platform. In a retail context, where it is necessary to constantly monitor sales, margins, operating costs, and store performance, the tool allows for quick updates to forecasts and the simulation of different decision-making scenarios. Additionally, the flexibility in creating reports and dashboards enables the provision of timely information to management, improving the quality of analyses and reducing the reliance on complex Excel files. Collaboration between different business functions is more effective thanks to the availability of shared and always up-to-date data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

The aspect I find least effective about Workday Adaptive Planning is the initial learning curve, especially for users who do not use the platform daily. Some advanced modeling and reporting features require specific skills and an adequate training path. Furthermore, in complex contexts such as large-scale retail, with numerous cost centers, sales points, and large volumes of data, maintaining the models can be challenging and may require the support of expert users. Also, the customization of some reports and analyses could be more intuitive. Overall, these are improvable aspects that do not compromise the value of the tool for management control and business planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Real-Time Modeling with Room for Performance Upgrades"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

What I like best is its combination of ease of use and powerful, real-time scenario modeling.

Moving away from error-prone, disconnected spreadsheets into a centralized, driver-based platform has drastically reduced our planning cycle times. I love how intuitive the interface is for non-finance business users to input data and collaborate, while still offering robust multi-dimensional modeling (via its Elastic Hypercube engine) and instant variance reporting for FP&A teams. Being able to run "what-if" scenarios on the fly and see real-time financial impacts gives our organization tremendous agility Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

While Workday Adaptive Planning is a robust platform for financial modeling, its main drawbacks stem from performance bottlenecks and reporting constraints. As multi-dimensional models scale with large datasets or complex driver-based rules, users often experience noticeable system latency and slow sheet load times during peak consolidation cycles. Additionally, while standard financial statements are easy to generate, building highly customized visual dashboards or ad-hoc reports can feel surprisingly rigid compared to dedicated BI tools. The platform also carries a steep administrative learning curve, requiring specialized training or consultant support to build and maintain advanced logic, while the Office Connect Excel plugin can occasionally suffer from stability issues when updating complex, linked report templates. "Streamlined Financial Planning, Some Setup Challenges"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Workday Adaptive Planning?

I love the flexibility and ease of collaboration that Workday Adaptive Planning provides. It allows multiple stakeholders to contribute to the planning process while maintaining a single source of truth, which greatly reduces version control issues. I also love how easy it is to update forecasts, build different planning scenarios, and generate reports without relying on complex spreadsheets. The dashboards and reporting capabilities are great, making it easy to quickly understand performance, trends, and share insights with leadership without spending hours creating reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Adaptive Planning?

The initial setup and model building in Workday Adaptive Planning is quite complex, especially for businesses with sophisticated planning needs, often requiring experienced admins. Some advanced reporting features have a learning curve and could be more intuitive. Simplifying the initial setup would make it easier, and while flexibility is a strength, it also allows for ambiguity and can be overwhelming for new users and admins. More guided tutorials would be helpful. I'd like to see more drag and drop features across reporting as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
