  ### 20. Powerful, Flexible, and Fully Customizable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

As a solo entrepreneur, having full control over my online presence is non-negotiable, and that's exactly what I get with WordPress.org. From the very beginning, setting up my site with a hosting provider was a smooth process. What truly stands out is the ability to grow and adapt without being limited. I can start with a simple theme and add functionality as my business evolves, thanks to the vast ecosystem of plugins.

I'm not a tech expert, but the WordPress interface makes it simple to manage everything from content updates to site maintenance. The power to customize my site using semi-custom themes gives me the best of both worlds: a unique look without the complexity of coding from scratch. This flexibility has been a game-changer for my business, allowing me to focus on my passion instead of technical headaches. For any business owner who wants a scalable and powerful website solution, I can't recommend WordPress.org enough.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

While the core of WordPress.org is a fantastic free resource, the costs can add up quickly. It's a bit of a "freemium" model where many of the most powerful and well-supported plugins and themes require a paid license. As a budget-conscious business owner, it can be frustrating to find that the perfect tool for a specific need is locked behind a premium subscription.

Furthermore, managing all the moving parts—WordPress core, themes, and various plugins—can be a bit of a juggling act. Regular updates are crucial for security, but they can occasionally lead to compatibility conflicts, which can be time-consuming to troubleshoot. It's not a deal-breaker, but new users should be aware that some maintenance and potential costs are part of the deal.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org is an exceptional solution for anyone who wants to build and manage a professional website without breaking the bank or needing to hire a full-time developer. As a business owner, the biggest problem it solves for me is providing complete control and flexibility over my online presence.

I'm not tied to a specific hosting company or a closed-source platform with limited features. I can scale my website, add new functionality, and change its look at any time. This adaptability is crucial for a growing business, and it's all possible thanks to the huge library of themes and plugins that let me add anything from an e-commerce store to SEO tools.

  ### 21. The Most Flexible and Powerful Website Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayur Z. | Web Developer and SEO Expert, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

WordPress offers unmatched flexibility and control. I love that I can build anything—from a simple blog to a complex e-commerce site—without needing advanced coding skills. The huge library of plugins and themes allows for endless customization, and there’s a strong community for support and troubleshooting. It’s open-source, SEO-friendly, and integrates well with almost any third-party tool.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Sometimes managing updates (plugins, themes, and WordPress core) can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re running a site with lots of integrations. Also, without proper security plugins or best practices, sites can be vulnerable to attacks. A small learning curve exists for beginners, but it’s manageable with a bit of effort.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org solves the problem of building and managing websites without the need for expensive developers or proprietary platforms. It gives me full ownership and control over my website, including access to the code, which means I can customize every aspect to meet my business needs. With its vast ecosystem of plugins, themes, and community support, I can easily implement SEO, e-commerce, security, and performance enhancements—saving both time and money. The open-source nature also means there are no monthly subscription fees, which is a big benefit for small businesses or individuals with limited budgets.

  ### 27. Flexible open-source CMS with a powerhouse plugin ecosystem

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vitalii V. | Technical Project Manager, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

WordPress combines low entry barriers with enterprise-grade scalability. The intuitive Gutenberg editor lets non-technical staff publish content fast, while more advanced users can extend any site with 60 000+ plugins and countless themes. The REST API, mature developer docs and broad hosting support make integrations straightforward, and the global community means quick answers and frequent security patches. In short, it is a cost-effective platform that grows seamlessly from a simple blog to a multilingual e-commerce storefront.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Because the ecosystem is so vast, quality control varies. Incompatible or outdated plugins can slow sites down or trigger critical errors that require manual debugging. Performance optimisation often demands extra caching and image-handling tools, and major core updates occasionally break custom themes. Ongoing maintenance, backups and security hardening are therefore mandatory overheads, especially for business-critical projects.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress lets us launch and iterate websites quickly without heavy engineering overhead. The block-based editor and vast plugin ecosystem shorten time-to-market, while WooCommerce turns the same codebase into a full e-commerce channel. Centralised content management, SEO plugins and multilingual support cut operational costs and help us scale traffic and revenue on a single platform.

  ### 28. Flexible and Well-Supported Platform for All Needs

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

You can make things as simple and complex as you like and well supported.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Can sometimes produce quite heavy sites if not modified.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For certain websites, it provides a strong foundation that we can build upon. Fantasic established plugins expands this further allowing you to focus on the areas you wish to focus on.

  ### 29. A great open source CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean L. | Freelance wordpress developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

What I like best about WordPress.org is the complete freedom and flexibility it offers. As an open-source platform, it gives me full control over my website’s code, design, and functionality. I can build completely custom themes and plugins, optimise performance, and tailor every aspect of the site to meet specific client needs. The huge ecosystem of plugins and themes, combined with an active developer community, makes it a powerful foundation for everything from simple blogs to complex custom applications.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

One downside of WordPress.org is the steep learning curve for beginners, especially when it comes to setting up hosting, managing updates, and dealing with technical issues like conflicts between themes and plugins. While its flexibility is a strength, it also means you’re responsible for security, backups, and performance optimisation—which can be overwhelming without the right technical knowledge. Additionally, the open ecosystem can sometimes lead to compatibility issues or poorly coded plugins/themes that require extra troubleshooting.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org solves the problem of building and managing websites without being locked into a proprietary system. It gives me full ownership and control over my content, design, and functionality. For developers like me, it provides a flexible, extensible platform that can be tailored to virtually any project—from blogs and portfolios to eCommerce and complex client sites. The huge ecosystem of plugins and themes accelerates development, while the open-source community ensures continuous innovation. This freedom translates into lower costs, faster delivery, and highly customised solutions for my clients.

As a teacher, I've found WordPress very easy and useful for building a class(es) blog(s) and sharing learning materials with students. It’s easy to use, even without a technical background, and offers plenty of customisation through themes and plugins. I appreciate how I can update content quickly and organise it in a way that supports my teaching goals. The learning curve is minimal, and it gives me full control over how my content is presented. Highly recommend it for educators looking to create a professional online presence, as it is an Intuitive editor with customizable layouts. It is also ideal for blogs, class sites, and portfolios. It is very easy to update and integrate with other tools and resources, and can be used very frequently for updates.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

1. Need for self hosting, 2. Plugin/ theme conflicts 3. Time required for updates and security. 4. Some advanced features require paid plugins or hosting

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org solves the problem of needing a flexible, cost-effective platform to build and manage a professional website without relying on technical experts.
As a teacher, I needed a way to share resources, class updates, and lesson content with students and parents in one central place. WordPress lets me do that with full control over layout, privacy settings, and updates. I can easily publish blog posts, upload documents, and even embed videos or interactive tools. It’s saved me time, reduced email back-and-forth, and helped create a more organized, accessible learning environment outside the classroom.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

While WordPress.org offers a huge amount of power and flexibility, it's not without its downsides. One of the main things I dislike is the initial learning curve and the ongoing maintenance. Because you have so much control, you're also responsible for a lot more. Setting up your hosting, installing WordPress, choosing and configuring themes and plugins – it can be quite daunting for beginners. And then there's the constant need for updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins to ensure security and compatibility.

I also appreciated how well it integrated with other tools and platforms, making content management and publishing smooth and efficient.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anshul N. | Technical Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

So, I am using this platform since 2017. My first startup was Heapooh and it was all about blogs. It is easy to use as I could just upload a Soledad theme and be done with it and just customize it to my taste.

I like that we can integrate not just php, but node.js and combine other JS technologies rather than just be stuck with Wordpress plugins. In fact, I used chatgpt to create some plugins and they worked well for my Wordpress.

I have three sites like now and it is all Wordpress. It integrates well with wozcommerce if you want to sell and have some cool integrations for mail services and payment systems like square and stripe.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

It is too heavy. I have a dedicated cloud server and it still feels slower than Wix and shopify. Also, lately the free part is missing and most plugins have useful features that are paid.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) You can upload themes and you do not need to design on your own.
I personally use Soledad and Newspaper theme. It is on 12.7 version now.
I can use some other builders like Elementor and Gutenberg which is great.
2) Rank Math and Yoast SEO are great to rank organically. I like Rank Math better.
3) Rocket Loader might give a boost to the site.
4) Easy cloud flare integration is a must mention.
5) Easy to integrate this thing with wozcommerce and include mailing services and stripe payment gateway.
6) No more coding and actual work done and require less then a day to setup.
