What I like best about WordPress.org is that it is one of the most widely used CMS platforms, so it is easy to find documentation, tutorials, plugins and support when needed. This makes it very useful for managing a website even when you are not a full-time developer. I use it to create and update pages, publish content, manage basic website structure and keep our activities visible online. The main downside is that WordPress.org is not always immediately user-friendly, especially when you need to manage more technical parts such as plugins, themes, updates, security settings or layout customization. Wordpress allowed me to administrate a faculty blog for my institution typically hosting 5-6 unique authors per semester. At times managing various user roles and inviting guest contributors feels clunky and outdated - it doesn't seem built for collaboration. I use WordPress.org as one of my main website builders. It makes quickly prototyping and developing websites for any situation super easy. The plugins and theming system is one of the most valuable features, with millions of plugins and themes at my disposal, making creating any type of website super duper easy. Just click install, and you're done. Plugins and themes are beneficial for my business because using these features at the click of a button and having it ready within a few hours is incredibly valuable. We need to add new features and prototype additional designs quickly, and WordPress's plugins help us A/B test and release features fast. The initial setup was very easy. I really like WordPress.org's fantastic ecosystem, which offers lots of great tools to use, from entry-level to more advanced options. The set of developers behind it is impressive and dedicated, making it a familiar and flexible platform. It's not as restrictive as other platforms like Squarespace or Wix. I appreciate the ability to scale up my skills and use better tools in the Bricks Builder ecosystem as I grow, with helpful add-ons like Next Bricks, Fancy Bricks, Brixies, Core Framework, and Advanced Themer. Bricks Builder, which I primarily use, is great and allows me to build and design sites efficiently and enjoyably. The initial wordpress setup is also simple and very easy, which adds to the overall positive experience. AI tools are making their way into the WP environment, and while they do have a ways to go, the future is promising. Support - well, it's a bit complicated because you have to use their forums, reddit groups, Facebook groups, etc. WP.org doesn't have direct support. Pricing is also a bit misleading, because while technically WP.org provides a free software, you still need to buy hosting and a decent amount of plugins and add-ons to get your site to look really good. It's just I feel like you need additional tools to make the admin panel to your liking. You know, there's no custom fields. There's no SEO baked in. I mean, that's great for the ecosystem, but basic SEO should be kind of baked in. The admin panel looks like it was made in the early two thousands and is still living in that time frame. There are other tools I use that cover some of the basics, but you have to purchase them to enable basic functionalities that I think WordPress.org should allow or at least update to, and they don't for whatever reason.
