## WordPress.com Reviews
 ### 1. Outdated and finicky

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

It hosts your website for you, I guess...

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Ridiculously outdated product. We needed to hire an external consultant to navigate the nightmare of the clunky interface and all the little workarounds you need to be able to stand up a semi-modern website.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosts our marketing website

 ### 2. [AVOID] The Worst Website Experience Possible

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emiliano G. | Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2024

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Absolutely nothing good to say about WordPress.com.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

- Bad Interface. Their user interface is the worst I've ever seen. It looks like something out of the mid-2000s. Hard to use, difficult to understand, and just all-around atrocious.

- Support is horrible, there is no option to contact them via their support chat and they don't list their support email publically.

Do not use. Literally, go with anyone else.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress claims to make web design and building easy. They do not.

 ### 3. I kick myself anytime I go near that sign up key.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chuck W. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2021

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

I suppose access to plug ins? But that's a double edged sword. There's not much to like, if being sincere about it. Everything that seems nice, complimentary or cool has a weird, evil doppelganger of a problem that seems pointed exactly at what you are seeking to acomplish.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Wishy washy 'help' provided by support. Blame always placed on 3rd party. If you use advanced terminology to even the superiors to the superiors no one knows what you are discussing. In ten years of on and off again service with WP, I've never been emailed back in accordance to a request for an escalation (which I'm told can only be done by phone). AVOID!!!!

Get a computer from 1986 and run Dos out your garage. You'll be so much better off.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

Don't. Like, really, don't. I know they have huge market share and they make it sound very enticing. I'm aware, I fall for it every time. Your call, of course. But, I do mean what I say here.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I run into at least a period of 6 months of slow down no matter what venture encounters WP, unfortunately.

 ### 4. Prefer GoDaddy editor

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Janis B. | Team Lead - Construction Accounting , Real Estate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2020

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

There is actually nothing I like about the software

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Not user friendly and requires tons of add ins to make your website work - any one of the add ins can crash and make your website crash and you will get no warning and very little support from the company

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

Use GoDaddy instead

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. Everything that I do within this site I can do easy in other website editors.

 ### 5. Difficult User Interface

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer B. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

I hear rave reviews about WordPress from people who love to use it as a blog. I have only ever created websites that are stores or multi-page websites. I personally don't have any positives for this site. I would not recommend WordPress to anyone who wants a fully functioning website.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

I originally tried WordPress.com because a client had signed up with that site to create their website/web store. The client hired me to create said site and store. This website was not functional for the client's needs. WordPress.com has many screens you must go through to select your page. I do not feel that it is very user friendly. This site was just not usable for my client's needs and I was very dissatisfied with it as a user. I ended up switching from WordPress.com to Wix.com to complete my client's project.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

I had a lot of trouble with the customer support from WordPress.com. I tried many times to reach a customer support agent via email or phone but I was always rerouted back to the WordPress.com forums to look for answers from other WordPress.com users. When I switched to Wix.com, one of the reasons was because you can easily reach a customer service representative with ease.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was trying to create a website/web store for a client using WordPress.com. However, this site was not user friendly and did not seem equipped to build a multi-page site with an integrated web store. I hear from many people that WordPress.com is a great resource for bloggers but I do not have experience with this personally.

 ### 6. i do not like Word Press

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monica V. | Marketing Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

I am not a fan of word pres. It takes forever to load and the coding is so different.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

I hate the coding and the lagging. It takes forever to run WordPress

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel like it was supposed to solve some website problems but it seems to be causing more problems than actually solving them.

 ### 7. Good only for basic needs

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2018

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Very easy to use. If you just want to write a straight blog with words and not worry about technical details then this is the one to use.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

It is not consistent when inputting code. For example, I past Twitter links in my posts all the time but some times a straight link works, while other times I need the code.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

Only use it for a bare bones text site or a journal. It is lacking in so many areas that it drives me nuts. It can be improved in so many ways but the interface and their need to make money supercede any improvements you can make. It is frustrating.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well it is where I keep my site. It is also easy to use.

 ### 8. Very difficult to find like-minded writers.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Wordpress has many different blog layouts to choose from, and is incredibly customizable. It's also super easy to upload a Wordpress blog to your own domain.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

The matching and tag algorithm is variable at best. It makes it exceedingly difficult to find others who write about topics you are interested in. I have much better luck googling a blog topic than I do finding it through Wordpress itself.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

Blog with Tumblr instead - the tag function and sharing your work is so much easier than using Wordpress.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am writing mental health pieces and compiling bits of my own research through Wordpress. It is incredibly easy to write and create a blog, as well as interpret statistics about your blog, but using it to find collaborators is impossible.

 ### 9. Too Complicated for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria P. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

The open platform allows for broad customizations. There are a lot of possibilities for the site.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

It isn't intuitive or simple. I have to do ALL the precise footwork in order to make small changes.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

If you want an easy, less time consuming website, do your research.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

People say our website is beautiful. It is eye catching and memorable. Customers can see class schedule and pricing.

 ### 10. A frustrating experience

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick M. | Marketing Content Developer, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

It is pretty easy to use when you operate within the basic confines of the templates they offer.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Constant trouble with plugins breaking our website. Always struggling to customize things in a way that fits with our custom template.

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

If you are going to use WordPress, stick to their basic templates and don't try to venture too far outside their basic setup.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a website. We can usually edit it.

 ### 11. Wordpress.com IS NOT Wordpress.org

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew A. | Business Development and Marketing Specialist, Banking, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Wordpress.com is for the blogger who really has no understanding of content management systems or website design. For this person it may prove to be a simple way to start a blog or simple website.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Wordpress.com seems to operate under the guise that it is Wordpress.org. This can cause some frustration to users who want more control of their content management system. Wordpress.com is very limited in its scope of customization. You will have Avery hard time deviating from the theme you select. If you have a vision for your website, avoids Wordpress.com

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

You need to make sure you did not mean to get Wordpress.org. Make sure you find a host that supports Wordpress.org if this is the case. Wordpress.com does not.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company previously used Wordpress.com to create a blog for our business. Unfortunately the user was confused when setting it up and we were on Wordpress.com'S hosting platform even though our content management system was Wordpress.org (they do not communicate well). This caused quite a bit of frustration and confusion for the original user. Enough that we had to find a way to transfer the site away from Wordpress.com.

 ### 12. Wordpress Review

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren W. | Owner, Public Relations and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Wordpress is a great site for coding if you're looking to have a website from scratch. It doesn't offer a lot of user interface for beginners, so it's a better website for those that are advanced in graphic design or the website industry specifically.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Not easy for beginners to create a website or manage.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to code your own website and unlimited design choices.

 ### 13. A necessary evil

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

when i lament to others about how terrible my wordpress experience is they are familiar, and can lament back to me. its a bonding experience

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

essentially everything. the pages load terribly slow, it crashes all the time, plugins randomly break pages, and most of the worst websites I've visited or worked on are built with wordpress

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use it as a marketing website. It's better than not having a website

 ### 14. blahblah blah

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

 ### 15. Outdated hard to use platform

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

That it is free- that is probably all that I see as a positive.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

It is not user friendly or versatile in the least.

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The folks who built one of our partner websites used wordpress as the back end and it functions terribly. The only benefit is that it is cost-free.

 ### 16. Horrible

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam M. | Sports show host, Broadcast Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2017

**What do you like best about WordPress.com?**

Absolutely nothing. It is the worst product I have ever used as a website

**What do you dislike about WordPress.com?**

Everything. It is slow, clunky, unresponsive, unintelligent and makes it very hard to use

**Recommendations to others considering WordPress.com:**

Do not consider WordPress

**What problems is WordPress.com solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are no benefits to this product. I work on a magazine website and it does absolutely nothing.
