Word Perfect **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2016 **What do you like best about WordPerfect?** I use Word Perfect for my business PC and it offers me the ability to 1) Write and use auto-correct features as I go or it highlights incorrectly spelled words and offers suggestions to fix them 2) Offers the ability to save documents in PDF form which saves times and does not require the use of additional software 3) Exports easily into software sharing like Google Documents 4) Allows me to insert tables from Excel or photographs 5) Imports older versions of Word Perfect and I don't really even realize it 6) Is fairy affordable and offers pay as you go features that are annual or monthly 7) Offers online and in store support. When I had an issue with Word I called in by phone and when the issue could not be resolved, I took my computer into the store and they ended up replacing the whole computer with a newer model! **What do you dislike about WordPerfect?** Microsoft introduces new software design changes and it these issues have happened 1) I was forced into upgrading into Windows 10 about a year ago (early 2015) before the market was really prepared for it. I wasn't prepared for a big transition at that moment and because my computer was updated and replaced for free there was no choice. I didn't like but it wasn't really that complicated after all. 2) The Microsoft store, which services the software, has a lot of very young technicians. Some are very good and some really don't know what is going on. My computer was handled badly, which resulted in a new computer, but it did take some time to weather the storm of changing over. 3) The inserting feature for photographs is very awkward 4) When you upload Word Perfect to Google Docs some of the formatting is lost (especially in the footnotes, headers and footers). **Recommendations to others considering WordPerfect:** If your company uses WordPerfect with Google, a lot of formatting an be lost in the footnotes. **What problems is WordPerfect solving and how is that benefiting you?** My business is solving the problem of raising capital in environmental markets (e.g. conservation of water, energy, and forests) and getting polluters to pay the true cost of pollution. My firm works in energy efficiency, stormwater management, renewable energy production, and reforestation. The firm assesses market analytics, produces market demand and supply forecasts, creates methodologies for projects, manages projects, and raises capital. ### 3. That is, to incorporate it into my text for professional use. It is much easier to work with data as well, as in Word it is a bit of a hassle, with this I found it a breeze. It is also easy to save as a PDF and Ebook formats. **What do you dislike about WordPerfect?** On rare occassions, it is limiting with the PDF format exports, but I've found compressing the images (not great for quality) to resolve this issue. **Recommendations to others considering WordPerfect:** If you're looking for a much cheaper alternative, as a low end user then I recommend this. Image insertion is a doddle compared to Microsoft word. **What problems is WordPerfect solving and how is that benefiting you?** None as such, but the image issue can be solved by compressing it. Otherwise, it is a much cheaper and better version of Microsoft Word for lower end users. ### 4. Its common interface from past versions, and chapter handling make it a great program for previous WordPerfect users. The program has some interesting features but its best one is the ability to work well in the reveal code mode. Another great feature is the ability to save files in multiple file formats which can save time when transferring documents into multiple formats for distribution purposes. Best of all, it has Ebook editing features not found in MS Word. **What do you dislike about WordPerfect?** WordPerfect has some downsides. It has a less than intuitive user interface that can be unresponsive at times. Its PDF handling can also be difficult, sometimes resulting in crashes of the program when converting documents. It also lacks some features such as a ongoing word count found in Word. **Recommendations to others considering WordPerfect:** Ongoing iterations of WordPerfect can be slow with some features needing improvement over time. It is very capable and easy to navigate, I would definitely recommend for a friend or colleague. **What do you dislike about WordPerfect?** My biggest gripe is that the interface isn't quite what I'm used to because I have used Word for most of my school and career. However, once I got the hang of it I was able to utilize functions quickly and easily.
