The desktop and online versions work seamlessly with each other and the keyboard shortcuts are intuitive and make creating full mindmaps from the keyboard easy. This make it ideal for note taking when learning and doing meetings. I use it almost every day for notes on everything and for putting together skeletons when architecting new technical solutions or writing technical scope documents. I always found with Mindjet software and Mind42 that it was good but not great. The AI I use a bit but probably not as much as some people would just due to the nature of my profession but when I have used it for business plans etc its been incredible how good it is to have this type of capability built into mind mapping software. Its not a big thing but I didnt like the default styling but I changed it in a matter of an hour or so and now the mind maps are styled how I like by default. It is extremly useful. Studying and memorizing information can be hard; EdrawMind makes it easy and sexy. It is good not only for creating mindmaps, but also to visualize them in different ways (as a pdf file, with bullet points, etc) and from different platforms (table, desktop, mobile, etc). I started using Edrawmind from 2020 onwards, as a simpler version of ppt. The concept of mindmapping really made my teachings much simpler and easier. Low and behold, I realized this is not just a teaching tool, but my ultimate STrategizing tool, note taking, project management and so much more. I finally purchased the pro version on 2024 august, and I must have recommended this tool to atleast 100 souls, who are benefitting massively from it. I feel the default themes and font can be made a lot more personalized. I have my brand colors, and my main font is poppins, but I am not able to see them in the tool, and I continuosly have to keep making the changes from the default theme given. The second thing will be use of emojis. I want my mindmaps to be visually appealing, but we are only allowed to use the in-built limited emojis, even the ones I copy and paste doesn't get saved. Extremely easy-to-use software, with instructions on how to create and design different types of graphic organizers. There are a wide variety of options to customize your design and make it easier to capture a topic in a visual outline. You can add images and you can sort and connect data by color, shape, size and hierarchy in unique ways. It is very useful when studying difficult and extensive topics; instead of reading and reading pages of text, you can create a map synthesizing the information in a creative and easy-to-learn way. Being a study app, its use is greatly limited by the small number of characters you can use to ask its AI to design a mind map. In terms of aesthetics, the customization options are very limited, generally resulting in ugly maps that do not encourage their use for study. The mind mapping s/w is awesome - allowing one to work purely from the keyboard. Has brainstorming mode and some other very useful templates.

I have the lifetime license from Wondershare - recently they have added a GEN AI based helper - which needs additional tokens. ( You can use the s/w without this add-on)

VERY fast, no lag at all when using the platform. Very easy and intuitive to use, not much of a learning curve. Maps look great, the styling is nice. I've used many other mapping products and EdrawMind is the best one so far. No major cons, the only annoying thing that I have found is when you share the link to a map with someone who doesn't have an account there is a few pop-ups that won't go away for those users. The software is limited you when it comes to free-flowing layout basically you cannot do it, everything is rigidly based on a template or tree structure, pulling nodes to move them far apart disconnects them from the mindmap, this is very frustrating and I have to use Simplemind for free flow mindmaps.

A mind map should allow a large degree of flexibility this software is more geared to using templates to create predefined mindmaps. Moving things around breaks the mindmap and can get you very frustrated, it would be also great to have a design mode where you can make your own templates and add to the pre-defined ones. Easy to start using the software and there are no distraction while creating the mind maps. You don't have to go looking for tools or anything. After a quick setup you're good to go.

There are tons of valuable tools and templates and many other useful features. They provide great assistance in creating an elaborated version should you need one. But if you just want a quick recording of ideas, you don't have to deal with them.
