One thing I really liked about Windows 8 was how fast it booted up compared to previous versions. It felt lighter and more responsive overall. I also appreciated the new Task Manager — it was easier to understand and gave a clearer view of what was running. Honestly, the biggest issue was the missing Start Menu. It felt like Microsoft took something familiar and essential and just removed it without a proper replacement. The switch between the desktop and the tile interface was jarring and confusing, especially when using a regular PC without touch. Basically the startup screen and the whole UI is designed for toch control devices like Mobile and tablet etc. So it is very confusing and some times uncomfortable to use some options. The operating system is not user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The biggest complaint was the dual interface—the new Start Screen Metro UI vs the traditional desktop this caused confusion, especially for non-touch users the classic Start Menu was removed, which frustrated long-time Windows users many had to install third-party tools like Classic Shell to bring it back the UI was heavily optimized for touchscreens, but most users had keyboard-and-mouse PCs, making navigation awkward simple tasks like shutting down the PC were hidden or changed, forcing users to relearn common actions the new Windows Store apps didn’t integrate well with traditional desktop apps—running in full screen, lacking flexibility, and feeling disconnected because of UI changes and compatibility issues, many businesses skipped Windows 8 entirely, staying on Windows 7 or waiting for Windows 10 microsoft changed too much, too quickly alienating its core user base with a mobile-like experience on desktop machines.
