**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Better than windows 7 performance wise and it's fast also

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

As of now I didn't find any issues with this.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Use it once definitely you won't regret or find issues with this window.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Daily business work

  ### 2. Keeps getting better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khamila C. | Senior Payable Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

I believe the most useful aspect of Windows 8 is the desktop design. Everything is easy to find and/or search. I especially like the search bar. If I cannot find the icon for the program I want to use, I just type it in and it pops up. The same goes for documents and spreadsheets.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

If anything, I dislike how it's the Window's logo instead of the normal "file" icon to search.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windows 8 has helped me organize my work much more efficiently and find things much quicker.

  ### 3. Getting Better

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

The way the start menu looks, The Simplicity of Locations

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

I don’t have anything to dislike about windows 8

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think windows 8 is much more reliable and has the ability to troubleshoot most issues as and when it happens

  ### 4. Big difference from Windows 7 to 8.1

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tamica S. | Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

I like how it is in tablet form, but a PC desktop usage.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

I dislike the big leap/change from Windows 7 vista because of the accessiblity to control panel and other folders that is not easy to get to on Windows 8.1. On windows 8, you have to drag your cursor to a corner to get the search slot and then type in control panel. It's very hard to get used to, since I am old schoo.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

You need practice on Windows 8 for Windows 10 and some universities or websites haven't fully upgraded to Windows 10 so using Windows 8 is safe.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit is Cortana, asking her to search for something quickly without typing and I like the set up of floating folders that are now apps.

  ### 5. Windows 8 - Start of windows metro

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Onimesh C. | Onimesh Chakraborty, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 came with a metro design, which was the most loved thing in windows. Windows 8 had the support for quick boot and UEFI mode. You needed to enable the UEFI mode from the bios for getting into it.
Windows 8 also introduced the new internet explorer which was better than its older versions. It was a bit fast and reliable. It also brought in the all-new Microsoft Store with all its featured apps. The community and the circle were a bit small in the start but gradually it increased.
Other OS and kernel features were almost the same as that of Windows 7. The icon packs and window styling was a bit modified and attractive.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 was the most flop Windows version ever built. The OS was very laggy at times and the boot-up time after a hard reboot was very long. It had no support for the older apps that were being supported in older Windows versions.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Don't Use Windows 8, instead switch to windows 10, it's way better and has more features than Windows 8.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had increased my problems while using Windws 8, I had to revet back to windows 7 and later update directly to Windows 8.1.

  ### 6. Issues with Windows 8

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ayza H. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

The User Interface. You can switch from one page to other by just pressing 'Window' key which shows you multiple options(application) on a screen within no time. Those are like quick shortcuts. The built in photo editors are good and user friendly.
Software are easily available and due to friendly UI they are installed easily.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The performance of Windows is slow as comparative to other Operating Systems. Whenever you start your system the Windows take 5-7 minutes to just start up. Till then you won't be able to do anything. You even can't open a file.

The video players are of low quality. No built in file management systems. Performance of heavy software is low. Visual Studio or Android Studio take 15+ minutes to just load a project. For a Software Engineer that is more than enough. Sometimes the wifi doesn't work.
When an application is not working no proper reason is given.
Whenever you will start the system your torrent will open automatically either you want it or not.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

If you're a daily user or a Software Engineer. Windows itself is not a good option to go for. It has the worst memory and efficiency management.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a Software Engineer, using computer all day is what I do. I use it for development purposes, watching movies, online browsing etc.

Plenty of software free of cost are available to use for either personal or professional use.

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

As a developer i have to be updated with most of new features of browsers and other software development tools. But as my devices are some old , they cannot perform well with windows 10. Therefore the best solution is windows 8.1. The features of windows 8 are highly fascinating

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

As now it is getting bit old , some windows developer features after 2017 are not compatible with windows 8. And some security features are lacking now.

It is a fast operating system with few flaws. You can use several new features and can operate on several platforms. Its new interface is very nice, great for working, the user does not tire when using it. Windows 8 has improved and a lot in graphics processing, its image has been very beautiful. For users who work with video editing and photo editing it is excellent. Another important point is how we can customize it in a way that best fits our work.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

It presented some flaws, but I managed to correct it next to the technical support channel. Sometimes it presented some slowness when running some programs.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

If you need a fast operating system that meets all your needs, use it and spend time as an experience you will not regret it, it is an incredible tool, and it has a very agaiable and simple interface to work with. It is compatible with several applications of windows 7, which generates a confidence when migrating to windows 8. The price charged by the system have always been affordable, which attracts my clients. In addition to that Microsoft has been in the market for a long time which generates a confidence in its products.

  ### 14. A relatively Good Operating System which is Less Resource-Intensive

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dennis O. | Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 is less resource-intensive and can run on a 2GB ram-computer seamlessly. In fact, it can smoothly on a intel celeron computer. It is one of the best software microsoft has ever produced.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 interface. Although it does not affect the functionality of the system, I don't like an interface whereby large software icons would spread all-over a screen. Additionally, you would struggle to use some functionalities such as bluetooth. Whenever you want to connect a bluetooth speaker, it often refuses to add the device until you restart the computer. When the computer running on windows 8 starts, it often runs into problems because some of the system's components don't properly until you restart it.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a writer about technology-related topics and I rely on my computer which runs windows 8 to carry out my work smoothly. It is highly reliable and it comes with core applications such as microsoft office which are highly useful in my business.

  ### 15. Windows 8 is the best operating platform even till today!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sunny B. | Mr Suresh, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 is very easy to use and not complicated as the newer windows operating system. The interface is easy to navigate and does not cause complications. I wish we can downgrade back to windows 8 one day!

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

I think the product is very good, but sometimes the windows update does take a long time which can be annoying.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits I have realized is that it is pretty straight forward to use and does not need much training unlike windows 10.

  ### 16. Windows 8

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin L. | Credit, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 has so many wonder features that makes every day business at my office easier. The easy to use features this software includes improves process times for just about everything. Windows 8 has a lot of neat features and tools to provide everyday support for all my projects.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The only thing I dislike is that when windows 10 came out, a lot of windows 8 became obsolete. There were bugs and issues with my systems after windows 10 came out. But that is expected when a new system comes out that is more enhanced than the previous.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

I recommend some of the bugs to be fixed from when windows 10 came out.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The only problems I had was like I said above, once the new system came out, windows 10, there were some issues with my systems. It was slow and sluggish. The benefits were that it made working easier.

  ### 17. Good for mobile devices, stressful for desktop (or non-touchscreen platforms)

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marlon D. | Ingeniero de Cisco TAC Nivel II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 inherits many of the advantages featured in Windows 7. The manageability, security (including an integrated antivirus), and the wide compatibility with current hardware and software products make Windows 8 initially interesting.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

For those of us who use desktops and laptops with no touch screen, the new interface will be stressful and hard to adapt to.
Touchscreen advocates will find the Metro GUI very interesting and will dislike the not so much touch-friendly desktop underneath. The opposite way, users who trust the traditional Windows desktop will not be very keen on having to navigate Metro to find settings and apps they easily locate in Windows 7.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Windows 8 tries hart to innovate and improve the user experience, but for the time being, I consider Windows 7 way better.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The impact of Windows 8 has not been the best due to the time it takes to get used to Metro after being a desktop user for years.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** Y H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

To be honest the only upside is the UI style type of softwares.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The dashboard is a downgrade that isn't fast and is unreliable to use and can get you confused and just is less user friendly and worse to use.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Made work less easier and more harder especially if your pc has low ram this is just unuseable and causes crashes.

  ### 22. Great for legacy software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

I like that a huge variety of software is supported. I work with older systems, many of which do not work on Windows 10, so Windows 8 is perfect for me.

I dislike the start menu, as it takes up the entire screen.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

I recommend Windows 8 as it is very well supported and can run all of the currently most-used apps.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to log in to legacy systems and perform my job with ease. The newer laptops come with Windows 10, and many apps are incompatible, so being able to 'plug and play' with Windows 8 is a blessing.

  ### 23. An Upgrade to Windows 7

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naveen D. | Assistant Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 was an upgrade to its previous one windows 7, with good security features. It came with windows app, And even a cloud storing tool SkyDrive. Remote access software is also good. As an upgrade it got a lot of new things like dual monitor support etc but I still feel Windows 7 was better.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

This operating system is very difficult to get adapted to. There is no start button in this. Scrolling too is not so good. Explorer is also missing. If i am worried about security, I will go with Windows 10.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Better go for Windows 10.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an upgrade, used it as an Operating system, then rolled back to windows 7 again. Now again upgraded to Windows 10.

**Reviewed by:** nick g. | Computing Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

I was keen on the full-screen user interface and the options to customise it. It was also stable, reliable and robust. The reset os options were also very welcome. It was underrated in many ways.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The Charms bar was annoying as were the hot corners, it was probably ideal for a table but got in the way on desktop usage.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Windows 10 is the future, why would you run Windows 8 now?

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was a good operating system. As with Vista the unpopularity was related to the amount that it was different from its predecessors.

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows has taken a great leap to impress the users. The main concentration was on the UI and cant help from saying they have finally excelled. All new UI can be seen in the desktop. Softwares and applications are now seen like tiles like they have n=been in windows smartphones and we have separately go to the desktop screen selecting tile which make quick access to certain softwares easy and accessible. The sped in which you copy the documents graphically is .represented which is quite impressive.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

New tile like layout is quite confusing in the beginning and has not impressed everybody. Installation takes a lot of time and there are compatibility bugs for many common softwares that needs to be addressed.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Update to the latest version of the windows and experience the unexperienced. Not the beta version but install the new version.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All new UI which is pleasant and bring interest for the user from the old view which has started to feel boring. New set of themes, customisations and supports that windows offers makes a whole new windows experience. Everything that every windows user wished for. Speed at which transferring of files occurs is appreciable.

  ### 28. Solid entry into Windows OS series

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 offers a solution that meets most needs and provides a user-friendly environment for staff to use, even with limited computer experience. Settings and menus are arranged in a sensible fashion and most operations can be undertaken without input from tech support.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The lack of depth in options for settings can be a frustration for those who are computer literate and want to see more of what's going on 'under the hood'.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

This is a good all-round solution for those looking for a slick and simple operating system

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The use of Windows 8 enables efficient and streamlined staff induction and on-the-job training as it requires no specialist skills.

  ### 29. Typical Microsoft transition OS

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shreya V. | Software Development Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

The new title interface is interesting but nothing really to ride home about. Titles attempt to provide a mobile type experience but fall short in availability and features.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Although Microsoft was ambitious in embracing the metro screen the software seems over hyped and under delivered. Many apps are not present in the windows store and the ones which are lack features. Additionally its irritating to switch between the legacy mode and the new title interface. Although there is some promise the overall software seems too early for commercial use.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Stay on windows 7 or 10. Windows 8 was another "Vista" moment for Microsoft. Too many new ideas but not well integrated.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None - Windows 10 or 7 are much more useful and user friendly.

  ### 30. I've had a much more positive experience with Windows 10

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 is a good software, but it is not the premium product that we have come to expect from the "new" microsoft.
Windows 8 obviously offers more of an upgrade from a windows XP machine, but windows 7 is a much more pleasant experience than a windows 8 machine.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The software now has a bit of an outdated UI and the search features with the tiles is more gimmicky than it is helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Its obviously the industry standard so there isn't much to say about not getting this. If budget allows, please just upgrade to windows 10.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, we need a UI and Windows is really the standard in the industry. The compatibility of products on the windows platform is unparalled so it wouldn't make sense for us not to use htis.

Touch interface was what everyone expecting before the announcement of Windows 8 and it met the expectations. However, the windows 8 fell below average for normal users. It has faster reboot time as compared to windows 7, enhanced security, integration with skytime, Duo-monitor, etc.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The very important thing for any OS is its simplicity. Windows 8 doesn't have that. There is no start button, explorer, scrolling top to bottom. Many users rolled back to windows 8 because of this and I was one of them.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

Windows 7 and Windows 10 are much better options.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My PC used it is as operating system.
