Top Rated Wild Apricot Alternatives
What I like best about WilApricot is that it is like a one stop shop where you can manage memberships, events, booking system, online payment&donations and sending out flyers and newsletters at the same time. There are also templates we can choose on and we can do something and schedule it to go out anytime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it annoying that there is no simple option to set up an event survey. There must to be a means to email the post-event survey to the attendees of the specified event. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Wild Apricot is very easy to hand off to the end -user. It is easy to use, hard to 'break' and nearly anyone can pick up on how to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest downside to Wild Apricot is the the lack of community style functionality. It has great basic features but lacks some of the more modern social features other member driven platforms has. This isn't a major downside, but it is one that can deter organizations that want to build a large online community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Of the options available for a membership organization or 501c3, it meets the needs for gating content, allowing for membership payments, integration with WordPress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unless you have a credit card to pay with, expect major delays or issues. Or, you can pay additional fees to do ACH (something about how WA is set up as an organization in Canada). How can a modern SaaS company not accept debit cards or checks? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wild Apricot enables our critical business processes: New Member Acceptance and Membership Renewal. We conduct hundreds of events and classes annually; registration is all handled online through member self-service on Wild Apricot.
We have a complex multi-step (multi-event) new member process, which is enabled by the ability to control event registration by group assignment. We can change group assignments to allow registration in specific events. Once you complete one event step in the process, we change your group to enable registration in the next step. Since we handle over 1,000 new applications and 84 new member events annually, the ability to manage the new member process with this feature is vital to us.
Numerous features in the membership level setup enable renewal flexibility. Invoicing is a hands-off process for us once we get the setup right. On the first day of our fiscal year, the system churns out over 5,000 email renewal invoices, and the online payment service puts the money in the bank. Absolutely huge labor savings and excellent accuracy. The fewer checks we have to handle, the better we like it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Customer support can be inconsistent. Often, I find a knowledgeable and responsive person; at other times, I have had to repeat myself when reporting a problem.
In the product technical area, two things bother me. One is that the renewal invoice is an invoice for renewal only; it is not presented as an account summary. If a member has an account credit that can be applied to dues, it must be manually applied by the member (or your staff); the system cannot do that.
The other limitation is in the member search capability. We use saved searches regularly, and we have thirteen membership levels. If I want to restrict a search to four levels in the same search, I must exclude the other nine levels in separate arguments. Instead of one search argument, I need nine. There is no way to select multiple levels from a list in a search. This is clumsy and doesn't seem to be difficult to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wild Apricot integrates many of the key membership management functions such as applications, renewals, events, and a website in one platform. Does not require a developer to maintain the site. Can be done by a tech savvy person or team.
In eight years of using have never run into security or hacking issues--unlike other hosts I've used. They're continually improving and upgrading their features and usability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Two concerns:
1. Is the lack of responsiveness to enhancement requests--some of which are basic and obvious. For example:
A. If a member changes their membership level (like going from single to family) instead of extending the renewal date a year they CHANGE the renewal date to the date renewed. This penalizes members for renewing early. They are NOT changing their membership date--they are just changing the type. There are 75 votes in enhancement requests to fix this. Some membership managers keep a separate spreadsheet to track renewal dates because of this defect.
B. The pre-defined dropdown for states for mailing spells out state names (Alaska, Alabama...) instead of the two letter identifier (AK, AL...) used by the post office. You have to build your own. They haven't used full state names since Ben Franklin! An easy and obvious fix--that has been ignored.
2.Formatting pages and text can be a little klugy. Would like to see that enhanced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that I can self-manage the website and create events all on my own without having to reach out to someone to do it for me. If you are tech-savvy then it is relatively easy to navigate. There are many options for reporting and page setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dont like that there is not much live person support if you do have a question on how to navigate something. An actual help line would be great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This program allows you to design or use a template for an easy start-up website. What I like about it is that it integrates the association's function into the website, i.e., our membership process and events. Membership applications and renewals are handled through the website, including approval, invoicing, payments and reminders. Donations are handled through the website as well. Our events are calendared on the website. An e-mail template can be set up for each event and scheduled to send to a select group or entire membership notices about the event, confirmation e-mails, and reminders to those who have already registered. Members can log on to the website, update their information, and access "members only" pages. The website has an easy feature to create a membership directory with photos, link documents, and include your social media buttons. What I really like is the Wild Apricot app that compliments the website functions and membership has an app too to keep up with accounts and registrations! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is not a way to have a "dummy" member to test out features and before going live. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We manage a variety of non-profit trade associations from a variety of occupations that almost always keep everyone...staff and volunteers engaged. It's a fast-paced way to make a living with rarely a dull moment.
Wild Apricot is good about updating the platform on a regular and consistent basis. They are careful not to make major changes without making sure the platform has been tested and adequate time is allowed to introduce new admin updates before it is understood by the staff impacted by the new process. There is always something to gripe about...just because we can! Seriously, little things, like not exporting to the latest excel format makes me grumpy. Having to delete the prior contact name (or part of the name) before beginning to search for the next potential contact for an email that is almost ready to send.
At the end of the day, we have very few things that we truly dislike; we've been with Wild Apricot through six different associations over the years and one went on to another platform under different management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have used and setup over 30 Wild Apricot accounts for various membership organizations. I also use it daily myself for my own small business. It offers a very nice website (nice themes and flexible layout), excellent event management, contact and member management, and email newsletters all in one package that has always worked. The cost is reasonable when you consider all the features/management in one admin tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is little I don't like about the service. The only improvement area would be additional/newer themes to choose from. Like any website editor, you can make it your own but up-to-date and new themes makes it really easy to keep your website looking fresh. Everything else in Wild Apricot works exactly as you would expect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I appreciate that while they are constantly adding features, they do so without "losing" their basic navigation so you don't feel lost. It's our membership database, our payment system, our website, our CRM for members and prospects, our events management, the board archives. It is so functional that every time a member says "we should find a way to..." I'm able to say "we already can". For less tech-savvy users, who worry they will disrupt something, admin can assign how much they can touch down to the page level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They held their prices steady for a long time but now it seems that annual increases are the norm (gotta pay the developers who are programming all the enhanced features). Some of the dashboard tracking mechanisms can't be reset so "most logins" by someone who is no longer a paying member does not tell me who is my most active current member for example. As that person, whoever they are, would be a prime candidate to replace me one day; so knowing could lead to grooming or at least gauging their interest if not for my role for some other contribution to the leadership team.
