"Review: Whimsical Design App - A Combination of Strengths and Limitations"
5/5
What do you like best about Whimsical?

Whimsical offers user-friendly features and a diverse selection of templates to expedite the design creation process.

User-Friendly Interface:

The intuitive interface makes Whimsical incredibly easy to use, even for beginners. Its simple navigation enables quick access to all features, allowing users to effortlessly create stunning designs.

Diverse Template Options:

Whimsical provides an array of templates for users to choose from. These well-designed templates are also customizable to match users' preferences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Whimsical?

Whimsical offers an enjoyable experience with a user-friendly interface and a diverse selection of templates. However, there are a few limitations to be aware of:

Lack of Certain Flowchart Shapes:

One drawback of Whimsical is the absence of some specific flowchart shapes. Users may encounter difficulties when trying to utilize shapes that are not available in the provided collection. This can limit the flexibility in creating more complex diagrams and flowcharts.

Limited Color and Font Options:

While Whimsical provides a delightful experience, the limited selection of colors and fonts may restrict the level of design customization. Users may feel constrained when attempting to tailor their designs to personal preferences or specific branding requirements. Having a broader range of color and font choices would enrich the user's design experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Must-Have Tool for Remote Teams"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Whimsical?

Whimsical is a tool that helps teams work together to create diagrams and ideas in a visual form. It's easy to use, lets you customize your projects, and integrates well with other tools. It has made a big difference in how our team communicates and works together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Whimsical?

The one thing that I personally dislike is not having a proper onboarding experience for the team. For beginners with no design or project visualization knowledge, there should be a proper onboarding phase where they can get used to the interface and functionalities. "Great app for brain dumping and high level strategy"
5/5
What do you like best about Whimsical?

I love how easy Whimsical makes it for me to take what's in my brain and put it on "paper" digitally. As the owner of a digital marketing agency, I couldn't run my business without a tool like Whimsical because I constantly need to be able to create high-level strategy workflows for clients that are easy to understand and visually appealing. What do you dislike about Whimsical?

There isn't much that I dislike about Whimsical. One thing that comes to mind is that sometimes when connecting boxes in workflows the arrows are a bit difficult to get going in the right direction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My review of Whimsical"
5/5
What do you like best about Whimsical?

There are a lot of features which I love. Some of them are:

1. Flexibility - Whimsical is one of the most flexible tools I have ever seen. Except for the document files, you have an open canvas, and that's it. Being a student and a part-time community manager, I need an open canvas to draw out my ideas, a Kanban board to schedule them and a writer to expand them. Whimsical is flexible enough to offer all these elements under one roof.

2. Reduces overhead - As I said earlier, you get a whiteboard + document writer + kanban board + wireframes, all under a single product.

3. Performance - The performance is pretty impressive. Being a web app, I experienced no down times. I have been their customer for the past year, and the experience is fantastic. They even have a status page.

4. Collaborative features - The collaborative features are just top-notch. I collaborated with my friends to brainstorm ideas and my colleagues to schedule some work stuff, and it was smooth. The best part is that it is whimsical and integrates very well with your personal and work life while maintaining a separation between the two. Let me explain; you can create separate workspaces for your work and personal life. Plus, it keeps abstraction between different workspaces; you can add a unique set of users in one workspace who won't be able to see the members or data from another. That's an outstanding balance between collaboration and privacy.

It even allows other collaborators to join without being a member of Whimsical.

5. Management - Whimsical allows you to sort your files in folders and sub-folders. This can be very helpful in keeping track of files without relying too much on search functionality. You can always 'star' essential files for easier access. It comes with a trash folder, which keeps track of deleted files, which is very helpful if you accidentally delete an important file.

6. UX/UI - The UX/UI feels exceptional. The transitions are smooth, the performance feels snappy, and the rounded design is pleasing to eyes.

7. Community and Support - Whimsical team have positioned itself well close to the community. You can find a lot of templates designed by the community. My experience with support was satisfactory. I got a reply for a simple query in less than 6 hours, which is impressive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Whimsical?

While Whimsical is close to perfect, it has some minor downsides:

1. Lack of dark mode - Seriously, we are in 2022. A dark mode is a must to prevent eye fatigue. Not a serious issue, almost all browsers support a forced dark mode, but we all need a native one.

2. Inconsistent performance - Sometimes, the performance gets finicky. Especially when you're on the canvas, it's easy to lose focus. And scrolling can be a hassle. I wish it could be something closer to Miro.

3. Application - Yes, I prefer apps over a browser. They perform better than using them inside a browser. It's just a preference.

4. Fully online - Sometimes, you might want to disconnect yourself from the internet. But being a web app, Whimsical won't work offline.

Other than that, I don't think there is any reason to dislike Whimsical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
