I came across Whimsical around an year back while I was learning to create UML diagrams and sequence diagrams, and I must say I was amazed with what I discovered. Whimsical is loaded with various features which I used to keep at different places randomly prior to this. Like for mind mapping, I used xmind but for flowcharts I used draw.io, lucidchart and even figma, but since I discovered whimsical, I loved how it provides these and various other features right out of the box. I am always on a lookout for centralizing so much of my thoughts, notes, diagrams and whimsical solves for it by giving all these features at one place. Its very easy to use and helps me keep my ideas and notes very visual. What i also love is the way it works in tandem with other tools - like notion where I can integrate it easily, and with chatgpt which has a plugin of whimsical and gives code to directly paste the sequence diagram from chatgpt to whimsical. One thing that I dislike about Whimsical is that the paid version is not much cheaper than the free version. I think they should offer more discounts or incentives for users who want to upgrade their plans. Another thing that I dislike is that the documents feature is very limited and does not have many options for formatting, editing, or collaborating. I would like to see more features like tables, charts, comments, and version history. Finally, I dislike that there is no database object template in the board view. This makes it hard to create and manage complex data structures and relationships. I wish they would add a database object template that allows users to create custom fields, filters, and views. There is nothing I dislike but if they increase the free tools limit then it will be great. Super user friendly UI and easy to get started. The learning curve is non-existent. Whiteboarding sessions can now include all stakeholders to sketch, refine and iterate upon product wireframes and user flows in real-time. I love that it makes both wireframing and process mapping easy. The shapes are there for you to choose. It makes lowfi design work easy on those without a design background. Whimsical allows me to get my ideas down for the design and engineering teams in a consistent way that is not a chicken-scratch design. I also map many processes to improve operational efficiencies and help with training efforts. Whimsical is better than any other piece of software I have used.
