"Best cloud spam and malware block for e-mail servers"
5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

It just works. Can be setup to be simple or indepth for each user. Takes a major load off of your e-mail server by limiting the amount of incoming spam it has to deal with. If you run an in-house e-mail server on a limited connection or have other performance issues, this will help out a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

The admin setup can be a bit confusing at times. But it does add flexibility to their system, so a bit hard to knock it on that. End user training also is a consideration. Anti-Virus is good but could be a bit better too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good, economical, and of quality!"
5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

The fact that WebTitan is cloud-based and you don't have to spend money on expensive physical hardware, and of course the DNS filters which are very important for any website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

At first, I had a bit of trouble correctly setting up the DNS and other settings, but luckily I received help and everything has been going well since then. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clunky and not pro friendly, but gets the job done"
3/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

When it works, it works. I like the AD integration, allowing the use of profiles to create pseudo ACL's to the web based on filtering preferences. On the Go agent is an extremely awesome feature. Employees would just take work assets home and bypass the web filter, but the OTG Agent stops this as it takes over DNS wherever the device goes and applies the filtering rules. ]

The cloud aspect is nice being able to log into the system from anywhere to provide assistance is tantamount to SLA's Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

1. Inability to filter by IP address as well as AD

2. more intuitive tools, like the test feature, it would be nice to be able to select the profile you'd like to test against instead of having to use the ip address of the user (but you can't filter by IP so this seems broken to me)

3.WMI/RPC needs to be running for this system to function properly - this does open security concerns in a production environment some people may be unaware of.

4. whitelisting websites is tedious and labor intensive, if you have multiple profiles and need to whitelist a site, say company wide (which involves multiple profiles), it needs to be added to each one individually. It would be nice if you could select all the profiles to apply a URL to when whitelisting.

5. Mass imports for whitelists overwrites the entire profile instead of the delta - - EXTREMELY ANNOYING

6. Only a single login for the cloud portal - not conducive to a strong CSF when they're multiple techs who need access to the platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dryden Geary of WebTitan Web Filter

Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed and educated review. Some great feedback in here.

Indeed the AD integration and our On The Go agent are very popular features - reflecting real business needs from our user groups.

I'd like to address some of the "dislike" areas:

1. Inability to filter by IP address as well as AD

It is possible to filter by AD. Under ‘Users’ you can create a user and map IP address(es) to that user/server.

2. more intuitive tools, like the test feature, it would be nice to be able to select the profile you'd like to test against instead of having to use the ip address of the user (but you can't filter by IP so this seems broken to me)

Great suggestion. A more advanced policy engine test tool is in the roadmap. For instance, this would allow you to specify any combination of source IP address, authenticated user, time of day, URL etc.

3.WMI/RPC needs to be running for this system to function properly - this does open security concerns in a production environment some people may be unaware of.

We would need more context to answer this properly. Can you drop me a mail so we can flesh this out? dgeary@TitanHQ.com

4. whitelisting websites is tedious and labor intensive, if you have multiple profiles and need to whitelist a site, say company wide (which involves multiple profiles), it needs to be added to each one individually. It would be nice if you could select all the profiles to apply a URL to when whitelisting.

We have a global WL/BL.

5. Mass imports for whitelists overwrites the entire profile instead of the delta - - EXTREMELY ANNOYING

Extremely good point. We think this may be a bug and are looking at it as I type.

6. Only a single login for the cloud portal - not conducive to a strong CSF when they're multiple techs who need access to the platform

We have role-based administration and multiple administrators in the roadmap for WTC.

These are great improvements and are product team were delighted to receive them. We've been working on WebTitan for over 4 years and are always trying to drive improvements and make the platform better.

Thanks again for a great review piece.

"Switching from Umbrella to WebTitan has saved us a lot of time"
4.5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

The best part of WebTitan for us is the interface. Where the Umbrella interface had been "modernized" to make it more "visually appealing" it also made it very annoying to use for quick info. The WebTitan interface lets me login, check all the blocked traffic for the day, and log back out faster than I could even get the view filters set in Umbrella. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

There's not much to dislike because it fits the way we want to work with the info. The one thing that could be improved is a view filter that allows me to see every IP that attempted to visit a specific domain without having to run a report to get that info. "Decent, Cheap web filtering"
3.5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

The web filtering uses DNS as opposed to hardware, so there isn't any bandwidth overhead. On top of not having to employ expensive physical hardware, that's a huge plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

The whitelist keys do not always function properly. We didn't have a lot of success in creating keys on the endpoint to allow certain websites. This is bypassed by whitelisting the site for the policy. We reached out to the support team and they were able to resolve the issue with some troubleshooting, but the solution isn't something most end users could handle, meaning we'd have to get an IT staff person to permit it (as opposed to a manager) so there is some management overhead there. "Simple, easy to use yet powerful web filter"
5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

Deployment couldn't be easier and management is very straightforward. In the simplest form you just need to point your DNS forwarders to their DNS server and add your location IP to the portal.

For roaming users or locations with a dynamic IP a lightweight agent is included for free.

Active Directory integration adds user level reporting and the VM required is also included. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

For AD integration an on-premise proxy is required. I would like to see the proxy eliminated and LDAP direct to the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Went well initially..."
2.5/5
What do you like best about WebTitan Web Filter?

Agent deployment was hassle free. Logging features and dashboard provided good insight with relevant information. Reports were easily configurable and straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WebTitan Web Filter?

Customer support was difficult to communicate with and usually seemed disinterested. Limited scope with regards to troubleshooting. Follow-up often requires reminders and in one case completely ceased when no canned solutions or initial troubleshooting steps worked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
