**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

Webstorm is probably one of the best IDE's I have ever used in my life. It comes with numerous fantastic features. A few of the features, I like in Webstorm are:

1.) Autocompletion: Its very hard to find an IDE which can provide autocompletion for even Javascript, but Webstorm does that for us. When I was not using Webstorm, I always had to look for the syntex on the internet, but thanks to Webstorm autocompletion features. Saves a lot of time.

2.) Inbuilt debugger: Very helpful for web development. You don't need to switch back and fourth between browser and IDE, as Webstorm comes with inbuilt debugger which you can use to debug your application. It has support for firefox and chrome. I am not sure about the other browsers.

3.) Support for external frameworks: It provides a greate support for external frameworks such as, Google App Engine, Angular JS, React, Node, Express and many more.

4.) Customization is possible: You can infact add custom menu as per your needs. This is sometimes very helpful and handy.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Although, webstorm has several wonderful features, but there are a few areas which can be improved:

1.) It takes quite a bit of time to open up at the first time.
2.) It doesn't open multiple projects in one IDE. If I need two projects to be opened, Webstorm open it in two separate IDE which is performance intensive.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

Definitely recommended. Especially for front end development. Makes life very easy.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Webstorm for day-to-day software/web development

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

Most of people in our company who are in development uses web storm for web development. If you are working in JavaScript framework then this is one best. All the projects which required angular and typescript so we uses them and support is great. No need extra plugins. This comes in combo pack everything in one place editor, debugger, version control(GitHub), terminal etc.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

I find that web storm is bit heavy required resources and takes time to load initially.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of web development specially front end is done with angular and web storm provided lots of support and which also helped in version control.

  ### 16. WebStorm: Perfect for MEAN Stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

This is the IDE that I use the most when I need to develop projects in JavaScript.
It allows you to save references between files, maintain a clean project structure and configure a large number of quick shortcuts that make programming much easier.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Many of their keyboard shortcuts are very different from Eclipse, so if you are used to them you have to change the configuration or you need a learning time to develop faster.
The division of the panels is not intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

If you are looking for an IDE to develop your projects with JavaScript, give WebStorm a try.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of the projects I work with are developed with MEAN Stack (MongoDB, Express, Angular and NodeJS).
After trying several IDE, this is the one I like the most for this type of projects.

  ### 17. Probably the best JS IDE there is

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shridhar P. | Web Application Developer | IT Student Assistant, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

-Debugger inside the ide (connect to chrome and firefox debugger)
-You can bind commands and programs to the ide. Then you can assign shortcut and menus to those commands and programs (super useful for custom grunt/gulp workflow)
-Build to be keyboard-centric, every menu is searchable, all shortcut can be changed, a new shortcut can be added.
-It has great git, svn and mercurial support (multiple branch management, log, blame, history and more)
-Support Typescript out of the box
-Plugin manager out of the box
-File watcher execute commands when your files change (use fewer resources than node watch)
-The UI is 100% customizable and offer out of the box a few great themes.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

1. Takes a few seconds to open for the first time (unless you have an SSD)
2. Tries to reopen a new ide every time you open a file outside a project. (you can use scratch files instead of most of those cases)
3. Cost money

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

One of the best IDEs around when it comes to web development.
Everything is customizable within the settings GUI (no config file to learn and maintain, the ide does it for you)
Awesome search engine (shift+shift will search in everything, files, function, variables, menu, settings, action, etc)

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All developers use Webstorm.
The quality of work has improved due to the high customizability of Webstorm. As each developer is unique, they need to customize their IDE according to them.

WebStorm’s Settings dialog it’s known for its live search feature. If you don’t agree with the way that WebStorm indents your code, you can simply type “indent” and the tool will only select the categories related to indenting code.

  ### 18. As powerful as an IDE can be

WebStorn provides all the tools I need for web development, from great smart autocomplete to deployment. It has an intuitive yet verbose version control integration, tools for testing, deployment (even a local web server), terminal, HTTP client for testing, code style and much more.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

All those tools do take a lot of resources.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

It might seem excessive to pay for a coding tool at times, but this purchase would be definitely worth it. Just make sure your machine can run it :)

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WebStorm saves time from setting up plugins, since it ships with most of features supported out-of-the-box. This developers spend more time actually developing.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Webstorm can be slow sometimes but no complaints otherwise

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Really nice features for navigating code and refactoring. The IDE has a lot of plugin for most of the popular frameworks nowadays.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

It'd be nice to have it properly integrated with IntelliJ IDEA as a plugin, so you don't need two IDEs

If you don't code js so often, IntelliJ or Visual Studio Code are nice. But for heavy js development, this is your tool

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease js development (frontend and backend).

Its slows down the PC. Takes lots of memory. Not advisable for devices that has less RAM. You need atleast 8 gb ram for smooth functioning of it.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

Give the easy navigation option from one implementation to another. Really speeds uo the development process.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 24. Simply fabulous

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose luis D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

Easy to use, very intuitive, fantastic integration with Git. It has an option to search the content of all files in a directory, which is very useful.

It has the option to install plugins, such as the symfony one.

Simply put, it's great, since I tried it... I haven't changed it.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Perhaps what I like the least is that it does not have support for managing blockchain projects, specifically with the Truffle framework. If this integration existed, it would be the best.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating git into the project allows us to version the code and provides us with greater agility. The git tool in WebStorm has many functions: create branches, code differences, etc.

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

Dark mode. I mean everyone likes dark mode. Probably my favourite feature is Node.js integration. It makes it very easy to run, debug and test units for Node.js apps. The automatic refactoring is an other thing I really like.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

The IDE itself kinda reminds me of the Android Studio IDE which I dislike because of the colors. It's probably just some getting used to but it's bugging me somehow.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

You should definitely give it a try. Everyone likes different things. If you're doing Node.js, then go for it.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The only place where This tool take a hit is memory management. First it take quite a while to open and then it also related to the amount of plugins you install.

It's efficient, let's me debug during execution, and provides integration with many extensions such as support for running unit tests, managing git version control, etc. All without having to leave the IDE.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Webstorm sometimes gets into a state where it doesn't stop doing code inspection on a file, and it takes up a ton of memory in the process.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to use sublime so having a full IDE has been invaluable. The code inspection and other things webstorm gives us has saved us so much time, and time saved translates in to money saved! It also has cut down on time for code reviews and the number of bugs we deploy.

  ### 31. Awesome tool for JavaScript development

**Reviewed by:** sravani y. | Software Engineer, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

It's very easy to write the code without any complexity. For more complicated projects also, we can easily write and debug the code. We can easily identify the errors by using analysis feature. It's very useful to write the nodejs code. As a beginner of nodejs I struggled with the syntax, in Webstorm It's very easy to handle the syntax problems.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

It takes lots of time to creating a new project as well as to open an existed project. Some times it will get struct while coding.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

It's very useful for large scale projects. After completion of coding, we can easily store the code in GitHub. For beginners of a new language, it's very helpful as they don't know much about the syntax. Error handling is easy.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For large scale projects Webstorm is very useful to write the code. We can easily connect to the GitHub and clone the projects. After writing the code we can easily store in GitHub.

  ### 44. A great IDE for Node and Javascript development

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt H. | Co-founder & CTO, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2018

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

WebStorm has a fantastic indexing engine that really helps autocomplete, refactoring, and navigation through a given codebase. You can simply open a directory (whether it be for a single project or multiple) and WebStorm will quickly organize everything appropriately.

WebStorm also features a best-in-class Javascript debugger, both for server and client (browser) code. It can plug into Chrome, Opera, etc.

It's very easy to use, and developers will be able to get up and running quickly.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

Because WebStorm is written in Java, it can get a bit sluggish and become very resource intensive depending on the size of the project. As a result, it's important to keep the number of open JS apps/projects to a reasonable minimum.

There are so many preferences and options in WebStorm, it can be difficult to know which things you should change. Additionally, some preferences are specific to the project whereas others are global, and the difference is not always easy to understand.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

If you're doing Javascript development, WebStorm and Visual Studio Code are two of the best options depending on need. WebStorm may edge out VS Code for those needing more advanced features, enterprise support, etc. Look at both and choose the one which makes the most sense in terms of need.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

After using a number of other IDEs (e.g. Eclipse), I can say that WebStorm is one of the best. It provides a really good focus on Javascript and shines where other IDEs fail.

My company is using WebStorm to build modern, microservice architecture-based systems built atop Node.js on the server and popular Javascript frameworks on the browser.

After using Eclipse for a time, we're realizing faster and more efficient development cycles, because we don't have to fight against an IDE that was designed to "do everything." WebStorm is focused on making JS development easy, and it does that with aplomb.

  ### 49. Webstrom OK but there are better things in market

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankur V. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2017

**What do you like best about WebStorm?**

I used to love webstorm for its integration with javascript and html. Its code typeahead feature is quite useful. Auto alignment is useful feature and the point that it can read your jscs file and align the code for you is quite useful.

**What do you dislike about WebStorm?**

The only thing I dislike about webstrom that it is another skill, things are not automatic for example in case you want webstrom to read your jscs, tslint etc you would have to configure them. I was hoping webstrom to read them by default.
Even after reading them the default code style is different from JSCS, you could set keyboard strokes to mimic ctrl-alt-l feature but it is not same as default code style.

**Recommendations to others considering WebStorm:**

Webstrom is very powerful but to find its gems you would have to find them. They are not spoon fedded to you. I have not used it but I belive visual studio code is gaining popularity because of its ease of use.

**What problems is WebStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

code cleaning and auto code generation.
