It was risky and vulnerable. For some time we sought solutions. Ultimately, we chose Wasabi because it integrated with the device seamlessly and offered a reasonably prices solution. Soon afterward, we added a remote worker that required the constant exchange of large files that a local team shared with the remote worker. Wasabi easily allowed us to create an additional storage bucket, limite the remote worker's access to only the shared team storage. It worked perfectly with several different file access clients. Our Wasabi system wasn't petabytes of info, just a few terabytes. We accessed the files often while using the remote worker. We've also found the backup very helpful when files accidentally get deleted or misplaced. Wasabi has been a great technology partner for our office. **What do you dislike about Wasabi Object Storage?** We are not mass storage experts. They system to limit access for particular users to particular storage buckets was cryptic. That area was definitely written by software and networking engineers. It could be more user friendly. But, the features are there and useful. The tool you used (text editor really) to set permissions on buckets is very technical and obscure, definitely have to copy and paste another example and edit it. Being able to have a reliable company that treats its customers and thier data with care, is a refreshing breath of air. The ability to have instant access to your data is also a huge plus by not having to wait to restore a file. It also ties in very nicely with Veeam Tools. After the account was set up, it has been easy to use with our tools. We do have scheduled backups every night, and even then we dont have a huge bill. When we were searching for S3-compatible alternatives, we were looking for a few things: - Substantially lower cost per GB per month than S3 - Simpler fee structure for requests - No egress bandwidth charges We were drawn to Wasabi because they seemed reputable and had a very straight-forward fee structure. **What do you dislike about Wasabi Object Storage?** The things I dislike the most: - Unreliable object access - in practice, we've found that object availability hovers very close to 99.90% - so at any given time, one out of every 1000 objects in our buckets with millions of objects cannot be fetched. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason to this, and this availability affects plenty of very recently-added and accessed objects. - You are charged for deleted objects for at least 30 days. At our peak, we kept >12 million objects in Wasabi, using over 120TB. In typical use, Wasabi objects are barely available 99.9%. We've seen objects remain unavailable for 30+ minutes at a time when they're in that 0.1%. However, they had an extended outage on January 24 in their us-east-1 region that prevented us from using ANY of our production buckets for 4+ hours. We could neither read nor write from those buckets during that time, which would put total availability below 99.9% for the entire first half of the year. We paid for premium support last summer. During this incident, support was minimally responsive, and definitely not proactive (we had to ask about the issue to learn about it). I've asked about billing credits and received no answer for more than 3 business days despite being a premium customer. Lastly, we're in the process of migrating to a more stable S3 alternative, and due to Wasabi's minimum 30 day charge (which would be 90 days if we weren't a "premium" customer!), we'll be paying for deleted storage for a full month now. **What problems is Wasabi Object Storage solving and how is that benefiting you?** It was less espensive than AWS S3's standard access tier. I can back up Synology to it. Data restoration works. It's so cheap! I moved my data over from Amazon AWS. I back up about 100 websites and a handful of Synology NAS. The data costs were getting to the point where they were becoming problematical. Wasabi does everything AWS S3 storage does but at a fraction (and I mean a small fraction) of the cost. **What do you dislike about Wasabi Object Storage?** Nothing. What's to dislike. It's a very single focused resource. It does data storage. The implementation of it is quite simple. I generate users, buckets and access keys, use these for websites or NAS backups.
