WampServer, although provides a robust environment for web development lacks in terms of security. That's a primary reason for not using the stack in a production environment. The easiest tool to start web development using PHP. WAMP server incorporates Apache server, MySQL database and PHP backend server support. The tool is easy to install and setup on Windows operating system. Starting the server services and stopping the services is easily achieved. Server configuration like setting up ports for accepting request can be done by updating the configuration files. MySQL database management is quite simple with the PHPMYADMIN web interface. Installation may be tricky, if appropriate Visual C++ libraries are not installed. We have been using WAMP server for developing quite a number of websites. Websites developed on WAMP SERVER have been easily deployed on the production boxes without much efforts. WampServer uses the same port as Skype so you must turn off skype when installing the WampServer. Some errors can happen when a project developed on Wamp is switched to Apache on Linux. It is very easy to configure a local development environment using Apache2, PHP and MySQL. I also like the fact that you can use different versions of PHP. Before implementing any project in a production environment, I usually test it in a local or development environment, so I use WampServer to test and check that everything works correctly.
