When you develop a software as a freelance by remote, usually the client want to know how much you worked on his project or on a specific file during debugging. WakaTime provide to you and your client all the info you need . WakaTime provide integrations with different IDE, chat and VCS platforms to be able to share software commits with team members. All you need to do is create a WakaTime account and add the required plugin to your IDE. Usually the plugin begin to track your progresses when the IDE start on a project. The WakaTime website keep track of all your and your team members progresses on projects and files. Provide the total amount of time spend in writing code and daily average time. What do you dislike about WakaTime? As freelance I'd like to have the chance to integrate WakaTime with Figma when I develop UI and prototypes. I like that WakaTime automatically tracks your time in your IDE, then categorizes it based on language. I can easily see how much time I'm spending on CSS / SASS vs JS as well as how much time I'm spending in each project, or even each IDE. Their dashboard shows you lots of beautiful graphs of stats related to languages, IDE, time and projects (connect to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket to track commits). Much more granular than a desktop time tracker and you can track your output against goals that you set. Want to code more HAML? You can do that. Want to spend less time in your IDE? The UX is still excellent, and the UI works correctly, but it just looks a little 2015. I'm able to much more accurately track how much time I spend actually coding, versus refactoring or writing user narratives.
