I like that Vyond is user-friendly. It's easy to pick up and doesn't require extensive video editing or mass communication skills. There are many templates, AI integrations, and how-to guides that make completing a project easier as the job is already halfway done. I also appreciate that Vyond values customer feedback and often rolls out new product features, which keeps it competitive. For example, Vyond has released, as of end of May 2026, a number of new product feature releases that were previously on my wishlist such as the ability to hide specific assets. A common complaint I hear about Vyond is around their lack of 'realistic' avatars. Some audiences see the 2D animation style as child-like. The AI avatars are a step in the right direction though. While there are plenty of elements to choose from, it doesn’t seem like any new ones have been added recently. My work within my organization is fairly repetitive, so I end up relying on the same elements again and again. It would be great if updates included new icons and other elements to help keep things feeling fresh.

Also, why isn’t the AI text-to-image feature available for the animated characters and visual elements that make up the majority of the platform? The feature isn’t close to where it needs to be yet, but it would be far more useful if it could generate visual elements and scenes for the animated version, since that’s where most of the platform’s value is for me. The AI video generator is a huge time saver! We use a lot of dialogue reenactments / scenarios for training our staff and the "conversation" and script features within the AI tool are very helpful. I still make edits to them in the full editing mode, but the amount of time I save over starting from scratch is invaluable.

One challenge I've encountered is how difficult it is to transition an avatar smoothly from one gesture or action to another. The movement feels abrupt and creates a jarring effect that can be distracting to the viewer. I'm also frustrated by the timeline behavior when working with video and audio clips. If I carefully position all of my audio files first and then begin adding or adjusting video clips, the audio clips shift along with the video. I like using Vyond for building videos from scratch and using Vyond Go to create fast videos for delivering bite-size information. I also appreciate the ability to choose between human avatars and animated ones. This feature impacts the effectiveness of my videos significantly, as animated avatars are fun and playful, helping better absorb information during long videos, e-learnings, and training starters. I love the text/image to video clip feature, but it is a bit short in duration, and I can't give the generated product any movement of my own. 5 seconds of video clips is too short, and you need to create more than one to be used in a video. I think the character library could use some upgrades. Currently, the styles are quite limited; it would be fantastic to have a larger selection of modern, high-quality cartoon characters. Additionally, having more layout and scene options would be beneficial, particularly for compliance, technical, and soft skills training. This would provide us with much more variety and flexibility when creating content. The AI animation feature can feel a bit repetitive. Characters keep doing the same moves or gestures too often. Plus, sometimes their actions don’t really fit with what they’re saying or the context. If we had more varied and realistic actions for the characters, it would make the videos way more fun and engaging. It's not so easy, I must say. I still struggle a bit with Vyond. I was excited about the built-in screen recorder, but the videos are not as clear as when I use Snagit and upload into a video editor like Adobe Premier Pro. I love the ease of being able to create videos that recreate scenes that can help influence learning experiences but are either challenging or expensive to produce in real life. The drag-and-drop interface and timeline editor are intuitive enough that I can storyboard a short training video without needing a production background, and I appreciate how quickly you can turn around content that would otherwise take weeks with a traditional production crew. Being able to upload your own assets is a real plus, and getting started with the tool was fairly straightforward without needing formal training. The template library and knowledge base cover the basics well, though more advanced workflows like custom asset management could use better documentation.

That said, I do think there are meaningful limitations. The character and scene libraries feel restricted, and it can be challenging to recreate certain workplace scenarios with the diversity of poses, expressions, and environments that L&D work really demands. One of my bigger frustrations is the lack of integrations with other video tools or content platforms. There's no easy way to import larger video clips, which means Vyond can't truly serve as a standalone video editor for an organization. I'd love to see direct export options to LMS platforms or the ability to pull in footage from other sources so it fits more naturally into a full production workflow. On the AI side, the script-to-video features sound promising but don't fully deliver yet. The output almost always requires significant manual rework to get scenes, timing, and character actions right, so it ends up being more of a rough starting point than the shortcut it could be. And with the shift to credit-based downloads, the pricing feels less affordable than it used to be. For smaller teams or solo L&D professionals, the cost-per-export model makes it harder to justify, especially when you're iterating on drafts and need multiple renders. The ROI is still there for high-volume content teams, but the pricing structure now requires more careful planning around how many final exports you actually need.
