Vonahi does require a stand-alone box running Ubuntu Server operating system; the documentation is good, but an official instructional process would be helpful. **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** Telelink has been in business since 1989 and needless to say, we have seen almost everything in our 3.5 decades in the IT universe. One item in particular that we are excited about and using extensively is the Vonahi PenTest software program and we find it very helpful in two ways. The first is that it gives us and our clients the peace of mind that we have done our due diligence in finding and removing whatever network and system “holes” are reported by Vonahi, whereby hackers and other black hats could exploit to our client’s detriment. The second area we find very useful to us is that inevitably, we find older systems and equipment that need to be replaced or upgraded which gives us the ability for an added sale. It takes only a couple of minutes to set up. Scans can be done internally as well as externally providing useful information on vulnerabilities and weaknesses. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** Some of the reports are quite large. Which is not necessarily a bad thing but as an MSP we have to go through it and to make it easier for our endcustomers to understand. So more options where the main findings are presented would be good. Another thing is the language, which is currently only possible in english. German would be great for us as an austrian company **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** It basically helps us to gain a useful insight into the infrastrucutre of customers within minutes or hours. A conventional pentest would take much longer and it is great to get rid of low hangig fruits. SO we used it for a risk based approach making it affordable for our customers. ### 6. The ability to setup the internal pentration appliances, even on a device as small as a Raspberry Pi, makes the solution cost effective too. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** There isn't currently an integration into SaaS environments to allow for internal scanning of these environments, for example you cannot integrate and have the back end of AWS, Azure, or others scanned and penetration tests run against them from a trusted user perspective. **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** vPenTest helps us provide cost effective penetration testing on a regular basis (usually quarterly and sometimes monthly) and on an ad-hoc basis whenever changes are made to the environments. ### 7. Also, it has good margins due to its reasonable cost structure. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** For internal pentests, you need to setup a VM or setup a device to connect to the internal network. For the VM, intermediate to advanced knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V is needed to setup the Ubuntu server. Its easy once you do it a few times but could be a challenge for less experienced users. **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** Prior to vPenTest we would have to outsource all aspects of Penetration testing. Days of setup and prep followed by waiting weeks for even an initial report. With Vonahi the process has been extremely simple, an external scan can be done (completed) in 2 or 3 days and an internal takes only slightly longer. They're as complete and detailed as any of the other companies I've used, their reports are consistent and well laid out with versions for techs, leaders and C suite level. They're quite thorough and tick all the boxes that anyone will need. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** The only downside is the inistial setup of the internal agent, if you don;t use the VM Image and want a standalone agent to use. That's offest by being able to quickly re-use it though. Keeping abreat of how many addresses are in your pool is a bit of a headache but really just par for the course. With effective management, you have an exceptional tool available to you and your clients for security. **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** vPenTest allows for a consistent and thorough experience with penetration tests, an area that is often dominated by "boutique" security companies that are often erratic in their reporting or features and can take months to book, schedule, test and report. For customers with virtualization it was simple to deploy a virtual machine. For those withouth virtual environments we were looking at low cost options to give our customers to still adopt Vonahi. I then saw a well documented process for deploying on Raspberry Pi devices and it has been well received. It is easy and simple to execute the scans, the scans have numerous features such as scanning the entire subnet and automatically creating the assets. We got access to our portal a couple of weeks prior to the onboarding call and because of the intuitive layout and great documentation available within the portal, we were able to get the site setup and run some tests before our onboarding call ever took place? Onboarding specialist was knowledgable and friendly and was able to answer the few questions that came up during our testing. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** We are having some issues with the IP Estimator functionality, but have a ticket open with support now to understand why it isn't finding any devices across a site to site VPN connection. Support has been very quick to respond to any questions, so I'm sure we will get this ironed out **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** vPenTest has been a good prospecting tool. Configuration on the web is extremely easy and deploying the VM for the internal network scans is also very easy. Constant notifications throughout the reporting process makes sure you know when things are going on and finished. It also found holes in our APC UPS's that I did not know existed. There are usernames that APC attaches to these but does not readily disclose on the internet as default. I was able to eventually find this information running through logs and corresponding internet searches. It made patching these holes extremely easy and I would recommend using this to other IT professionals. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** The least helpful part about vPenTest is that they give you a lot of the tools that they use, but they end up buried in the detailed reporting folders. If you spend the time to go look for it you will find it, but some information will also be redacted. Some of the alerts it provides for areas of problem do not give a clear or concise way for remediating. You are able to find the answers with some searching. Overall I would still recommend this product. **What problems is vPenTest solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is helping us to make sure our clients have security checks internal and external. The amount of time that I am able to get this scheduled, receive my results, and present our findings to clients. It creates a phenominal process that allows for quick and efficient information gathering and reporting. With this solution, you are also allowed to test and calculate a total IP count prior to any true scans to know how many IP's you would be testing to best prepare for spending your usable IP count. The setup was a breeze and the team kept us looped in the whole time, making the process smooth and straightforward. But what really stood out was the detailed report we got at the end. It wasn't just a list of issues; they gave us actionable steps to improve our security. So, if you're looking to up your cybersecurity game, I can't recommend these guys enough. All in all, Vonahi nailed it—great team, great service, great results. We really wanted a tool that would allow us to do more regular scanning of the network and most of the other bids we got were for 1 annual scan and came with long term committments for multiple years. we were able to sign a 1 year contract and see if we liked the service before committing to more. **What do you dislike about vPenTest?** Kaseya. I don't know why but it seems like Kaseya buys good companies and ruins them. I don't have any specific issues with the Vonahi system or its service but I do worry about future development of the solution with Kaseya at the helm. I haven't been able to find anything wrong or a lack of features at this point but we are also relatively new users to the software and have only completed 3 scans so far.
