It's a very focused product, and it's very opinionated about how you should work. This is a good thing, for the most part, keeping Pivotal Tracker from being like the more feature-bloated offerings out there (e.g. Jira or Rally) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The flipside of a focused, opinionated product is that if you're trying to do something a little different than what they intend, it falls short. For example, epics are clearly an afterthought and a second-class citizen in the world of Pivotal Tracker. If you're not trying to use those as a primary entity, all good. It's integration with git repositories that makes it incredibly nice to work with and its lean UI. If I am free to choose which software I'll use to plan a project I'll go for pivotal tracker almost 9 out of 10 times. I like the fact that one could have several projects going on at once with several different team or sources like for instance i run a security installation crew on one end of my company and clear across the atlantic ocean i hired a gal who is a whiz at building by code additions to my much needed help website still under construction. there is no nesting or advanced linking ability, for example, i cannot make a story a parent story to children stories. i cannot create dependencies. it's hard to keep track of stories when there are many of them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
