"Decent task tracking tool, leaves more to be desired."
3.5/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

Pivotal allows you to keep track of tasks, add notes and update their status. In regards to those features, Pivotal delivers as promised. They also have a companion mobile app which is great for quick reference. It is very specific for software development teams, which is great if you're exclusively working on a software project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

The user interface and onboarding process leave a lot more to be desired. It is very plain and subdued, and no real way for someone new to Pivotal or a project to learn/understand the software quickly. It is set up similar to a kaban board but when you try and drag and drop tasks it won't let you and provides no explanation. I wouldn't call Pivotal a complete project management app, but more of a planning and task management app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A great tool for project collaboration"
5/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

Any inquiries, tickets you or your clients might have can be easily reorganized with Pivotal Tracker, enabling you and your team to multitask to your strengths and avoid wasting time on the trickier stuff. Timetables, sprints, phases, sequential development, you name it. Pivotal Tracker allows you to set rules for the way you work without ever feeling oppressive on your workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

When I first used Pivotal Tracker I remember being a bit confused how to navigate the various pages, e.g. how to find the advanced search function. The UI could be designed slightly more intuitively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for managing multiple projects"
4.5/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

Pivotal Tracker is incredibly intuitive and easy to use out-of-the-box. Some favorite features around here include: setting release targets, creating a Workspace to track multiple projects, assigning reviewers for domain-specific tasks such as QA and code review, moving stories from one project to another, sorting and filtering cards by epic and label, and assigning users to a card. Pivotal has made it incredibly easy for our organization to track the work on multiple projects across iterative development lifecycles. The minimal learning curve also makes onboarding a cinch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

The reporting features are great - but limited. You have access to a variety of canned reports, but no ability to create ad-hoc or custom reports. We typically export several reports to a .CSV file and create our own custom reports in Excel to work around this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Agile Development Tracking Tool of Choice"
5/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

The SAAS model makes it easy to get up and running with minimal effort. It's free to use for a small project with few collaborators. This makes taking it for a test drive a must.

I have to mention the RESTful interface as well. This allows simple integration with other products and services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

The lifecycle of a story within PivotalTracker is perfect for development and business teams to collaborate and continuously deliver value. One thing I would like to see is more lifecycle states after the story is delivered and accepted.

To be specific, I would like for Pivotal Tracker to generate smart release notes for stories that have been accepted and allow these to be emailed out to the team. So much great documentation is gathered during the life cycle, it would be a shame to not leverage the data.

With that said, the data does not disappear so you could very well leverage the RESTful API and create release notes using your language/platform of choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Tool for Tracking Data "
4.5/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

I love that we can keep track of stories between us (located in the US) and our developers (located in Europe). We work at different times so this really helps us to all stay on the same page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

I would like to be able to add images in the description instead of having to add them to comments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Basic agile project management"
1/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

It's a basic sprint board that does what it does. It does a decent job of tracking stories, issues, and overall project progress and velocity. Simple "accept", "reject", and "finish" buttons make it easy to move stories along the sprint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

I don't like how the UI is organized. It also lacks a lot of features and code testing integration. If you have a lot of stories/features, it piles up vertically and horizontally, leading to a lot of scrolling. Tickets can get lost in the pile. The labels are not the best method for categorizing stories since they're so small and hard to distinguish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great project management tool for agile times "
4/5
What do you like best about VMware Tanzu Labs?

It’s really easy to implement agile methodologies and keep track of velocity/burnup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware Tanzu Labs?

I would like the mobile app to be fuller featured. There’s no reason why every feature on the desktop web app can’t be in the mobile one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
